Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

12: Chapter 12: Career Planning 12: Chapter 12: Career Planning After some casual chatting, to show his sincerity, Yang Yu ordered quite a few delicacies to treat Bai Jin.

Bai Jin was indeed a rare good character.

As the saying goes, without sacrificing, one cannot ensnare a wolf.

Only by maxing out her favorability would she loyally follow him.

A meal was a small price for Yang Yu.

Unfortunately, the time to check favorability had passed, and he could not check it at will.

He had to feel his way across the river, first figuring out what kind of girl Bai Jin was, then cater to her preferences and address them specifically.

Bai Jin had intended to decline Yang Yu’s kindness, but after smelling the aroma of the food, her stomach embarrassingly growled, and she started eating with her face flushed, respectfully resigning herself to compliance.

While dining with Bai Jin, Yang Yu’s gaze drifted to the receptionist.

Increasing his level had not brought him any skills.

Expecting the skill tree to open automatically upon leveling up was quite foolish.

For a background character who was often treated as just part of the scenery, to die as soon as he appeared without even a name, reaching hundreds of levels with just a few skills was normal.

Not to mention that he was a civilian.

Yang Yu was mentally prepared not to learn a single skill when reaching max level.

A max-level civilian character without skills was essentially just a large experience bag, and he did not want to end up like that.

However, the path to acquiring skills was not nonexistent; it was clear and visible.

After all, Yang Yu had gained the Clover Cultivation skill by farming for a year, which meant that repeatedly performing certain actions could potentially result in acquiring skills.

His system panel showed he had 90 skill points, undoubtedly meant for learning skills.

The union should provide mentors to guide newcomers in learning skills and offer profession changes, though he was unsure what the requirements were.

After drinking several sips of thick soup, Yang Yu put down his spoon and headed to the front desk.

Turning into a new profession didn’t require anything special, mainly talent.

In the VIP room over there, mentors specializing in guiding newcomers are available.

By paying a certain fee, you could learn skills from them.

If your talent is extraordinary, they might even take you as a disciple,” the receptionist warmly informed the newcomer and handed Yang Yu a stack of materials for free.

Browsing through them casually, Yang Yu’s system presented him with a new choice.

[Important: Human energy is always limited.

Unless one is a genius among geniuses, capable of doing what ten thousand hands can do with just two, for the average person, mastering one skill is worth far more than having countless mediocre skills.

You have now become an adventurer; hesitating to choose a direction will only slow down your growth and lead to failure.

Now, countless options lie before you, requiring a decision.

1.

Give up being an adventurer, go home and farm.

2.

Choose a profession.

3.

Choose what?

I want them all!]

Choose what?

I want them all!

…Such thoughts are good just to think about.

Free attribute points are scarce, and it’s not Yang Yu’s turn to mess around.

As for the first option…

he had just left Newbie Village, and returning now to farm would be like swelling his own face, right?

Therefore, only one out of these three options was truly viable.

Selection confirmed, a new task popped up on the panel.

[Task: Change Profession.

Choose a mentor, impress him, and pass his assessment.

Reward: A random main profession general skill.]

Heading toward the VIP room, he saw six doors in total, each inlaid with different emblems representing a shield, magic wand, dagger, cross, sword, and fist, corresponding to warrior, mage, assassin, priest, swordsman, and boxer.

Yang Yu’s target was clear.

Whether in RPGs or in online games, the Warrior, Mage, Priest combination was a timeless, versatile composition.

As the team already had a fragile mage, what was needed now was a warrior and a priest.

Priest as a profession, starts out commanding and watching in the early stages, and by the late stage, playing dirty with Holy Light is quite common; they can even betray the Holy Light and turn into a shadow to deal damage.

Yet, the Priest’s panel in the tavern had an indelible Holy Light Blessing BUFF etched into it, so becoming a priest was, needless to say, a condition met only by the luckiest of the lucky, naturally eliminating the less fortunate Yang Yu.

By the way, the scarcity of Priests also indirectly resulted in many teams having two Mages, one for dealing damage and the other for healing support.

Having one fragile Mage in a team, and then adding another, truly invites a swift death.

All things considered, Warrior was indeed the best choice for Yang Yu.

Speaking of which, a good Tank could determine the limit of a team’s potential, and Yang Yu wasn’t willing to entrust this role to someone else.

Pushing open the door of the Shield, a spacious VIP room revealed a man in his forties or fifties, shirtless, displaying his biceps, his luxurious sinewy muscles crispy and tempting, suddenly filling the air with a philosophical aura.

“emmm…

must have opened the door the wrong way.”

Yang Yu stepped back, closed the door, took a deep breath, and reopened it.

The man on the other side had changed his pose, showcasing his pectorals, the majestic curves outlining his rough and unruly nature.

“Hey!

BABY, want to learn a few skills from me?”

“No thank you, I’ll take my leave.”

Just as Yang Yu was about to lock the door to leave, he was suddenly dragged into the room by the burly man.

“No, you do want to.” The burly man locked the door behind him, posing wildly at the entrance, filling Yang Yu’s vision with his muscles, “Warrior is a pretty good profession!

Besides, conscientious mentors like me are rare.

Others are all about money, but I look at a person’s potential.

My intuition tells me, you have the potential to become a great Warrior.”

Damn, are all the warriors in this game like this?

Is it too late to change professions?

The atmosphere grew tense, Yang Yu’s brain shook, and he pinched his nose just to calm himself down.

It’s somewhat understandable to encounter a few quirky NPCs in the game.

Despite exuding a philosophical air, this was still the adventurer’s guild, they surely wouldn’t normally do anything strange.

Probably…

If he does, I’ll just have to scream my lungs out.

“Oh.

Enough small talk, teach me the skills, now.”

“Don’t rush, my little friend.

Even though you have the potential to be a Warrior, since I, Andro Jack, have barely met you, I won’t teach skills just like that!”

You realize we’ve just met!

Then why on earth did you lock the door without saying a word, freaking me out…

Forget it.

“What kind of assessment do you require?”

“It’s great how the youth today get straight to the point,” said Andro, resuming the pose Yang Yu had first seen, “I’ll keep it brief, just follow me for the next thirty minutes.

Mimic my movements and remember the sequence.

Afterward, we’ll have an assessment; if you remember them, you pass.

Now, get undressed!”

“Why should I…

you really are after my body!” Yang Yu shielded his chest with his arms, sweating profusely, “If you come any closer, I’m going to call for help!”

Andro pressed on, still wearing the same amiable smile, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m not interested in skinny guys like you.

This is just to see if your movements are standard and to make adjustments!

Besides, even if you scream your lungs out here, no one would come to your aid!

Just let me check.”

“Brother Jie, please no!”

“Listen!

Let me check!!”

“No, really no, Brother Jie, no!”

Yang Yu wanted to run, but Andro had already blocked the door, leaving him helpless before those magnificent muscles, leaving only his cries.

“Damn it, if the scenario I’m imagining actually happens, I’m definitely giving this game a five-star bad review!!!”
