Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

36: Chapter 36: You are Powerful, So I Choose to Split 36: Chapter 36: You are Powerful, So I Choose to Split “Tsk, tsk, can you believe it?” Yang Yu’s voice arose beside the Goblin King’s ear, “Your Goblin Army, though they seem ferocious and brutal, are actually pretty useless.

Ultimately, their attack modes and thinking are too simplistic, and easily targeted.

Therefore, up to now, not a single person from the rescue team has died.”

“What are you saying, your…”

Your elite troops should have been completely wiped out by my assassination squad.

The Goblin King’s words halted before they could leave his mouth.

Scenes of the first failed goblin hunt and the image of the escapees being saved surfaced in the Goblin King’s mind.

Its side had clearly dispatched an assassination squad; why then was Yang Yu so confident that not a single member of the rescue team was dead?

A quick glance at the rescue team revealed that it was Sekamens now in command in place of Yang Yu, and the Goblin King’s brain nearly malfunctioned.

Could it be that they had never had any real elite troops from the beginning, and that it was all an illusion they had created?

That they had only sent out this young man for scouting from the start.

And this young man had exploited my so-called clever brain, making me mistakenly believe there were elite troops, deliberately dispersing my forces.

The Goblin King found it increasingly hard to believe.

Could it be that after he entered the intensive observation area, he chose not to pass directly through but to cause some damage, also to continue this misunderstanding of mine?

“Your next line is, ‘All of this was within your plans,’ isn’t it?”

“All of this was within your plans?”

Uttering this line, the Goblin King’s heart trembled incessantly, confirming all its thoughts; it was completely seen through, not just the attack strategy, but even its thoughts had been entirely uncovered.

“Hahahahahahahaha!” The Goblin King’s sudden laughter made the entire battlefield quiver.

Everyone couldn’t help but look towards the Goblin King whose eyes first lost their luster, then burst aflame with burning fire.

“Indeed, there is always someone better out there.

I ask you, do you know what I’m thinking right now?”

“Nothing more than discarding everything, playing your hidden cards, triggering some sort of ‘rage mode,’ transforming yourself, anything goes for the sake of victory.”

“Never thought you’d see it all.”

The ways a BOSS could grow stronger were limited; there was no need to guess.

Yang Yu had long been prepared; if the Goblin King transformed, fight if possible, and run immediately if not, very decisive.

“Since thinking is useless, I’ll simply abandon thought.

With the purest, most primal strength, I’ll knock you down.

Maybe you saw this coming, so what?

Can you defeat me?”

Laughing crazily, the Goblin King drove his Long Stick into the ground, his chest erupted with a dazzling red light, shooting straight into the sky.

The distant approaching rescue team, just finished dealing with the ambushing goblins, even catching one with leaf patterns on its body, saw the soaring red light and instinctively knew something terrible was imminent.

The crimson light wreathing the Goblin King’s body swelled slightly, its bulging muscles distorting its face.

It was transforming.

Stepping back rapidly, Yang Yu opened his system panel to check the Goblin King’s status and smiled, feeling his sense of crisis vanish.

The Goblin King’s transformation was not an all-around attribute boost, but an adjustment of attribute values, intending to pile all its intelligence into speed and strength.

If the Goblin King had actually completed the transformation, it might have been unbeatable.

However, such adjustments seemed to also cause some real-time impact on its appearance, requiring some time.

As a player, unless there was a cutscene, why would one ever let the boss simply transform at will.

Transforming in full view like this, are you sure you’re not just gifting yourself to us?

Oh, if you think there’s only one enemy to deal with, then it’s fine.

“Mages in the back, follow my command, unleash your strongest magic and fire at the Goblin King.

Warriors in the front, please hold the line a bit longer!”

“Got it!”

Shaken as they were, the rescue team got moving again under Yang Yu’s command.

The warriors in the front began cutting down the goblins that hadn’t yet reacted, while the mages gathered to chant their magic.

“You!

You!

That’s really low!”

The Goblin King, in the midst of transforming, panicked.

Its adjustment was nearing perfection, but a forced stop would definitely rebound on it, and if it didn’t stop, it would have to withstand tons of magic.

It had no idea whether it could hold out or not.

Magic converged in the sky, forming a beam that poured down on the Goblin King, who was forced to abruptly stop adjusting its attributes.

It wanted to pick up the Long Stick driven into the ground for defense, but when it grasped, it caught nothing.

“Fire-roasted Long Stick, Purple Quality, it would be a shame if it were damaged by the magic.”

Somehow, Yang Yu had used “Sudden Killing Intent,” snatching the Goblin King’s weapon as he dodged away from the center of the magic attack.

“You bastard!”

The Goblin King roared, but it was in vain and it could only stretch out its hands to resist the barrage of magic.

Dust billowed from the ground, revealing all the hidden traps as everyone held their breath, waiting for the outcome.

After examining the Long Stick carefully, Yang Yu directly stored it into his System, claiming it as his own.

Just then, a pair of huge hands emerged from the dust cloud, covered in magic and exuding an aura of destruction.

“Stubborn to the end.” Yang Yu flipped his shield to use “Shield Counter,” a red light covering the shield, adorned with crimson spurs.

“Shield Counter” was self-explanatory; it blocked an opponent’s attack with the shield—taking only 10% of the damage while the opponent sustained 100%.

It was a great move against high-attack but fragile enemies.

The only downside was its long cooldown and high Mana Consumption.

Yang Yu squatted back and hurled his shield to meet the Goblin King’s Attack, and the red spurs on the shield sent an electric current straight into the Goblin King’s heart.

“Shield Counter” was Yang Yu’s only skill with a high lethality threshold.

Having absorbed so much magic, the Goblin King was already in critical condition.

Moreover, it was driven to madness by the failed transformation.

If not now, when?

However, Yang Yu didn’t manage to finish it off—perhaps because it had taken too much magic or because the forceful interruption of the transformation had backfired—The Goblin King had not given its all.

“Damn, just a little bit more.”

No matter, what doesn’t kill you leaves you open for a finishing blow!

Swinging his sword, Yang Yu was about to deliver the final blow.

The Goblin King’s twisted face revealed a sly smile as its body split open, with a strange orange-yellow light bursting forth.

“I admit you’re strong, but let’s blow ourselves up together this time!”

The thing could self-destruct?

Self-destructing goblins were indeed terrifying.

Yang Yu immediately put some distance between himself and the Goblin King, employing “Interception” and “Shield Block,” and shouted to the rescue team, “Get down, everyone!

This guy’s going to blow!”

Before his words had even faded, a violent energy burst forth from the Goblin King’s body, like a heavy bomb exploding at the spot.

The storm ravaged through the woods, shaking the cabins until they swayed and finally turned into wooden boards flying into the distance.

The massive explosion could be heard clearly for dozens of kilometers around the forest, and the dust raised by the blast covered the sky, blanketing the entire forest.
