Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

19: Chapter 19 Rescue Adventure Group 19: Chapter 19 Rescue Adventure Group Having rested for the entire night, Yang Yu arrived at the adventurer’s guild.

The urgent task was still ongoing; the fate of the adventurers who disappeared in the Goblin Forest remained uncertain, yet the mood in the tavern wasn’t as suffocating as one might expect.

The task board was crowded with people, and at the center, a robust man, oblivious to the gazes of others, displayed his full muscles, his deep, hearty voice filled with kindness and vitality.

“…As the saying goes, ‘At home, rely on your parents; away from home, rely on friends.’ Whether it’s for a living, to grow stronger, or to protect the populace, we gather here, become adventurers, and become friends.

Perhaps most of you have heard that in the past two days, an adventurer team that went to the Goblin Forest has gone missing.

Our friends are in crisis.

Imagine for a moment if you and your team suddenly encounter disaster while carrying out a task in the forest and there’s no one to rescue you.

What kind of despair would you fall into?

It’s at times like these that extending a helping hand to them means that they would surely do the same for you in your time of need.

Some may think we should wait for higher-level adventurers to arrive, but I can tell you clearly that if we just wait for them, everything will be too late, and we will have lost many, many ‘friends.’

Now, the adventurer’s guild is organizing a temporary adventure group to delve deep into the forest and conduct a rescue.

Each of you is free, and we will not compel everyone to join, but we truly need your help…”

The task to form a temporary adventure group was posted, and Andro was holding a motivational meeting.

A new task had also popped up on Yang Yu’s interface.

[Urgent Task: Rapid Rescue.

What exactly is happening in the depths of the forest is unknown.

The disappearance of several adventurer teams has the adventurer’s guild feeling uneasy.

Out of humanitarianism and to prevent the situation from worsening into something unforeseeable and dreadful, the adventurer’s guild is preparing to organize an adventure group to venture into the depths of the dense woods to discover the truth and rescue those trapped.

Task Requirements: Join the adventure group and under the leadership of Andro, help rescue more than 10 missing adventurers.

Reward: 2000G or one Skill Point to be used on skills up to Level 100 (optional), 8000 Experience, and three lottery draws.]

The generous reward, far surpassing his current level, indirectly indicated the difficulty of this task.

8000 Experience was enough for Yang Yu to gain two levels.

Although each lottery draw had left him unlucky, three chances seemed trivial.

Even so, with enough draws, he wasn’t worried about not getting anything but trash—after all, trash isn’t always truly trash.

However, what Yang Yu valued most was the chance to acquire a skill.

The ways to get Skill Points were not clear yet.

Every high-level skill needed a considerable amount of Skill Points.

Skill Points were even more precious resources than free attribute points.

Getting a skill for free could also alleviate the tension of lacking Skill Points.

Even more attractive was that this skill was optional.

What did that mean?

It meant that he didn’t need any luck; he could take exactly what he wanted.

How could Yang Yu pass up such a richly rewarding task?

Not to mention that this game had a frightening degree of freedom.

If it was really impossible to win, facing any danger, he could just run away without a second thought.

“Hey—”

Yang Yu reached out and scooped up Bai Jin, who was beside him.

Startled by Yang Yu’s sudden action, Bai Jin blushed but didn’t struggle as this was her first time being held this way by a boy.

“Getting fresh with a girl so casually is not very gentlemanly.

I am a Curse Mage, and if you don’t let me go right now, I will curse you, hehehe, I can already see your tragic future.”

Perhaps because of her frailty, Bai Jin was lighter than he had expected, and he could lift her effortlessly.

Weighing his options, Yang Yu put Bai Jin down, “No problem, this lightweight; I could carry you away like an empty sack when the time comes.”

“Carry away???

Are you serious?”

“Of course.”

Bai Jin was dumbfounded.

She had thought that what Yang Yu had said in the forest was just a joke, never expecting him to be serious.

At the thought of being carried on someone’s shoulder like a sack, Bai Jin didn’t know what face to make.

“Am I a burden?”

“What nonsense are you thinking?

You’re the main combat power on my side, and a retreat is to preserve our living forces for a comeback.

If I upset you just now, I apologize.”

After confirming Bai Jin’s weight, Yang Yu’s face was relaxed.

Carrying her was much easier than hauling water and fertilizing, no mental burden at all.

As for He Meng, when he wasn’t carrying a pack, she hung on him like an accessory, so he never worried about her getting lost.

Thus, Yang Yu quickly signed up for the adventure group.

Andro, worthy of being a warrior’s instructor, was passionate as fire.

Many warriors educated by him likewise loved fitness and were full of vitality, all muscle and bursting with a sense of justice; they joined the adventure group without a second thought.

As for other professions, they didn’t share the same rapport with the warrior instructor.

Most of them joined the adventure group out of a sense of justice.

The adventurer’s guild was pessimistic about the rescue, thinking that attracting forty or fifty people would be an achievement.

They never expected that one hundred and ten would participate.

Yang Yu’s influence had something to do with it, as others thought, “Hey?

This rookie adventurer is joining, I can’t lose to him,” and so they joined too.

With recruitment complete, Andro, on behalf of the adventurer’s guild, thanked everyone heading into the forest, then started imparting a list of precautions, and afterwards, deliberately left some time for the team members to bond with each other.

Many came to greet Yang Yu, who responded casually.

A person’s energy is limited, and there wasn’t time to greet everyone.

To ensure the smooth progress of the mission, he only sought out higher-level individuals for conversation.

However, the person he most wanted to talk to was Andro himself, a level 42 adventurer instructor.

Andro was the de facto leader of this team, and his decisions greatly determined whether the mission would be a success.

Whispering in his ear to help him make the right choices was also the correct approach.

But Andro was always busy negotiating with the adventurer’s guild, and Yang Yu couldn’t get a word in, so he had to let it go.

The time for mingling passed quickly; time was pressing.

Once the route was decided, Andro immediately led the hastily assembled rescue team toward the Goblin Forest.

Yesterday, when he had seen the gravely injured adventurer fall, he wanted to rush headlong into the Goblin Forest without a second thought, but reason told him that going alone would achieve nothing.

So, he could only apply to the adventurer’s guild for an emergency strategy and, after much preparation, they were now finally setting off.

Every wasted second meant those missing adventurers were hovering on the edge of life and death once more, and he resolved not to let such a thing happen.
