22: Chapter 22 Are These NPCs So Aggressive in Snatching Monsters?

Goblins surged forward like a tidal wave, and stone axes and sharp spears flew through the air like raindrops.

Yang Yu stood in the front, opening his Illusion Shield.

“Interception” – this skill, once activated, could block flying props for a certain time.

Only if the attack power exceeded 200% of the total defense would he take 10% damage from the flying props.

Mere stone axes and sharp spears could never penetrate “Interception.”

Besides Yang Yu, the front-line adventurers were also using all their skills to knock down the flying props.

Several goblins leaped down from the trees, picked up the thrown weapons, and charged.

The mage group, responsible for output, had been waiting for a long time and set off one AOE after another in the forest.

“Blazing Flame Spear Technique.”

“Ice Cone Skill.”

“Lightning Chain.”

The goblins’ levels were roughly between 11 and 19—not very high, but their blood volume and resistance were not bad; they kept hopping around even after taking many AOE hits.

However, this was also somewhat related to the overall quality of the mage group.

After all, not everyone had intelligence as high as Bai Jin’s, which reached over 200.

Many adventurers around level 20 had just passed the hundred mark in intelligence, so one couldn’t expect them to focus and kill goblins instantly; they could only hope to use magic to weaken them as much as possible.

The front-line adventurers and the goblins fought hand-to-hand, each with high spirits, waving their weapons.

Since running away meant death, they might as well go all out to seize a chance to survive, fighting more fiercely and even taking the initiative to charge the goblins behind them.

While the priest group was busy focusing on healing the severely fatigued Andro, they also paid attention to the battlefield and occasionally found time to chant spells to heal others and add buffs.

There were punishment priests among the priests, capable of fighting, but they knew that every bit of their MP could possibly save a life, so they dared not use their skills recklessly.

Speaking of those relatively unoccupied on the battlefield, it was only the Slime, He Meng, who had formed a contract with Yang Yu.

It crawled into a tree hole, slacked off completely, and cheered on with “666.”

Of course, it wasn’t truly idle.

As a prodigy who could nurture clovers, Yang Yu was of great strategic importance to the Slime Kingdom; it couldn’t just watch him die.

If Yang Yu truly faced any deadly danger, it would definitely protect him without regard for its own safety.

As far as the current situation was concerned, Yang Yu hardly needed its protection.

On the contrary, the way Yang Yu laughed as he moved through the group of goblins left He Meng somewhat speechless.

That demeanor hardly looked like someone facing a crisis—it was more like the smirk of a villain who wanted to clear all his enemies.

He Meng even started to be unsure who the real attacker was.

“Ha ha ha!

To think they’d come to me on their own!

How much experience will these goblins give?” Yang Yu swung his Horizontal Slash again and again, fighting vigorously.

Crisis was an opportunity; at his current level, he needed twenty to thirty goblins to level up, which was not easy to find.

“Tornado Slash!”

The blood volume bars of several goblins in front of Yang Yu were already empty; he just needed a few more hits to gain a lot of experience.

But suddenly, a sword qi flew by and wiped out the goblins in front of him.

Meow meow meow?

Have my kills been stolen again?

Turning around, he saw an honest-looking swordsman giving Yang Yu a thumbs-up, “I see you’re fighting hard, let me lend you a hand.”

Damn it, you realize I’m struggling, so why are you stealing my kills?

Don’t you know how long it took Bai Jin and me to lower these goblins’ blood volume?

Complaints aside, the battle was still on, and since Yang Yu’s opponent meant well, he couldn’t voice his thoughts but instead said with a twitching lips, “Thanks.”

Damn it, I’ve been outdone by a mere NPC again.

No way, I must snatch it back.

Scanning the battlefield, Yang Yu quickly targeted a group of goblins with depleted blood bars, bellowed “Demacia,” and leaped at them with a “Horizontal Slash.”

However, not a single goblin fell, because Yang Yu’s attack power was insufficient and a tiny bit of blood remained in the empty blood bars of the goblins.

As he was about to finish them off, a long spear thrust forward like Azure Dragon, skewering all the goblins.

Turning around, he saw a refined young warrior brushing his side bangs.

“Don’t get it wrong, I—I didn’t plan to save you.

I just saw you were in danger and accidentally reacted!

Hmph—”

Dude, if you don’t want to save me then don’t.

And look, do I look like I need saving?…

Also, snap out of it, you’re a boy, stop acting all tsundere on me!

Yang Yu’s lips twitched again, he wanted to say something, but the other had already walked away.

He had no choice but to vent his frustration on the goblins.

Soon, he targeted another group of blood-drained goblins trying to retreat from the frontline and escape back into the forest to send a signal.

After a quick look around confirming no NPCs could steal his prey, he didn’t hesitate and charged at them with his big saber.

Just then, a dark meteor flew over his head and exploded among the severely wounded goblins, leaving none of them alive.

Glancing out of the corner of his eye, a young mage wiped his nose, looking relieved, while several mages around him congratulated him.

Apparently, it took him a while to hit his target.

Faced with this scene, Yang Yu didn’t know what to say and could only silently shed tears of frustration, uttering the words of discontent.

“Shit!

Damn!

Crap!”

The battle heated up, and under the collective healing from the priests, Andro recovered from his severe fatigue.

His body packed with muscles and possessing a level way beyond that of a D-rank adventurer, even his normal attacks dealt tons of damage to the goblins.

Following him were his equally refreshed and highly skilled disciples.

One by one, these musclebound men engaged in battle, tipping the situation instantly.

Before long, the goblins were completely routed, with each one being grounded into the dirt by these muscular men, tears of emotion streaming down.

As Andro crushed the last goblin’s skull, the battle reached its conclusion, and everyone cheered—everyone except one.

Standing in the middle of the battlefield, Yang Yu wanted to scream loudly but couldn’t.

Before the battle, he was Level Nineteen, and after the battle he was still Level Nineteen, with his experience bar growing only slightly more than half, part of which came from shared experience from Bai Jin…

At that moment, he could only mutter “MMP,” unsure if he should even say it, his frustrations towards the NPC’s monopoly over the monsters overwhelming.

Buy buy, leave it be, leave it be.

Perhaps noticing Yang Yu being down from the crowd, Andro approached him with large strides.

“Thank you, Mr.

Yang Yu.

It seems you’re not only exceptionally skilled in fitness but also have a unique perspective in resolving disputes.

Thanks to your accurate judgement of the situation and rallying everyone, we were able to survive.”

“It’s nothing.

I just spoke the truth, and I certainly didn’t want to die panicked in the forest.”

Yang Yu’s eyes were devoid of any spirit; he didn’t want these kill-stealing teammates, but without them, he couldn’t have killed so many goblins.

He could only blame the game’s experience gaining system for not awarding experience if not dealing the final blow.

“Don’t be modest,” laughed Andro heartily, slapping Yang Yu’s back twice before turning serious, “No more niceties, can you tell me now, why you seem so worried?

You’ve definitely noticed something else, haven’t you?”
