Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 544: Chapter 178: The Value of the Planet, The Reason for Development_3

But the complexity depends on whether the planet has value in some specific applications.

Chen Ming had specifically discussed something with Bai Quan before.

Why do some star realm capitals and some military patrol team bases choose to station on dangerous volcanic planets?

Bai Quan did not conceal it at the time but clearly told Chen Ming the reason directly.

Because the Empire obtained something from the relics of another civilization that it cannot mass-produce yet.

Low-Temperature Computing Engine.

This is a special device used by that civilization on defense units within border star systems.

It is essentially a supercomputer dedicated to calculating combat-related incidents.

Its unique feature is that it absorbs heat during computation.

Chen Ming thought at the time that such things have issues; things defying the second law of thermodynamics should not exist in this universe.

But Bai Quan wouldn’t randomly lie to him, and when Chen Ming considered what his spiritual energy could achieve, he suddenly felt the existence of such things was much more reasonable.

If the Empire obtained a certain number of Low-Temperature Computing Engines from another civilization, then it indeed should establish patrol teams or military headquarters able to use them on volcanic planets.

After all, sizable patrol teams really need specialized equipment for support.

Used for planning patrol paths within the ever-changing star systems and assisting commanders during combat outbreaks.

Not everyone is a genius, able to map out battlefield conditions within a star system in their mind.

Many ordinary officers rely on computer assistance in command, giving these Low-Temperature Computing Engines their value.

Now that Bai Quan had clearly explained the situation, Chen Ming’s future colonies would be better off having a geologically active volcanic planet.

Therefore, such geographic... no, it should be astronomically apt locations suitable for installing low-temperature computing engines on planets.

Even if besides thermal energy, there is almost nothing valuable on the planet to extract, it can still be assigned to the special level 5 category.

There are quite a few other special level 5 planets too.

For instance, a gaseous giant planet that Bai Quan mentioned to Chen Ming, which appears to contain basic gaseous resources.

Due to the suspected presence of gaseous lifeforms, it directly leaps from its original level 2 to level 5.

And those suspected gaseous lifeforms have been confirmed to exist by a Psychic in recent years, proving their real existence.

Furthermore, there is another giant terrestrial planet approximately the size of a typical gaseous planet, possessing terrifying gravity and countless giant organisms, placing it into the level 5 category as well.

Moreover, this planet’s satellite is also assigned to level 5.

Because this planet with terrifying pressure hosts a type of giant flying creature.

Although they lack space survival capability and cannot survive in a vacuum, upon death, their corpses are forcefully thrown into space by their kind.

Those corpses thrown onto the space orbit gather with remarkable precision, forming a unique blood-flesh satellite over countless years of planetary evolution.

On this satellite, the parasites and microorganisms on those tossed corpses have constituted an extremely unique ecological environment.

Possessing high research value, hence also placed into level 5.

In summary, those in level 5 are either terrestrial planets with high developmental value, or planets like these identified by Chen Ming from Bai Quan.

Chen Ming previously also asked Bai Quan another question.

What other special things, similar to low-temperature computing engines, has the Empire obtained from another civilization’s relics?

And Bai Quan directly gave Chen Ming a list.

Chen Ming glanced over it and saw a heap of evidently bizarre items, some even seemingly defying physical laws.

Yet with the precedence of the low-temperature computing engine and in a world where spiritual energy exists, Chen Ming found it somewhat acceptable.

He clearly etched every recorded item into his mind.

In the future, expanding outward would certainly present many opportunities to interact with another civilization’s relics.

He might also find these inherited items from another civilization listed, which the Empire cannot replicate currently.

In addition, star systems have their own unique valuation systems.

But these require type-specific considerations, be it comprehensive, industrial, scientific research, or settlement types.

Each star system has varying value when applied in different environments.

This assessment is rather complex, not as simple as with planets.

After all, besides the star system itself, factors like the distance to target star systems and other systems need consideration, which demands expert handling.

However, one thing is certain; the final value of star systems is determined by which environment provides the highest value when the star system is applied.

For instance, the star system where Chen Ming previously stayed, which only had one somewhat valuable habitable planet, while other planets were less favorable.

Thus, its settlement value might be assigned to level 3 or even level 2.

However, due to the asteroid belt of Rimu Star housing abundant rare minerals, and the Altrulan space eel groups within the star system.
