Chapter 515: Chapter 171 The Reappearance of the Thorn Insect Race_2

For instance, Chen Ming had never piloted a cruiser, nor had he ever had the opportunity to get involved with one.

But after controlling the Supreme Point, he could activate it, and he could freely use the complex exploration equipment on it.

Although there were limitations, it was still quite astonishing.

So it was the same now.

Chen Ming quickly understood all the functions of the main control room and found the most crucial one among them.

This tower holds the highest control authority over the Mechanical Race within the city.

Chen Ming immediately attempted an experiment.

He attempted to issue a command to a Mechanical Race entity that was in hibernation near the main control to stop hibernating and move.

But he failed.

Chen Ming frowned slightly and tried again.

But the result was the same.

The process of issuing the command was normal.

The process of receiving the command was also normal.

Even the feedback result was quite normal.

However, the abnormality lay in the fact that the Mechanical Race receiving the command did not execute Chen Ming’s order.

It remained in hibernation at the original spot.

Chen Ming immediately used the tower’s internal surveillance to find another Mechanical Race in hibernation inside the tower.

Its exterior was damaged and could be interfaced.

Chen Ming arranged for the robot with the Gamma Core to get there.

He simultaneously attempted to issue a command to it.

The situation was the same.

The process was normal, but the final result was that this Mechanical Race completely ignored Chen Ming’s command.

So Chen Ming connected the Gamma Core and took control of it, opening the panel immediately.

He could see that the name of this Mechanical Race was [Mechanical Race Small Mechanical Unit · Worker Bee].

And in the consciousness section, it was labeled as ”Sub-entity (Hibernating),” not like Dusk’s ”Existence” or ”Hibernating.”

Just as Chen Ming was about to figure out why it accepted the command but did not execute it,

he suddenly noticed a change in the consciousness section on the panel.

It changed from [Individual Consciousness: Sub-entity (Hibernating)] to [Individual Consciousness: Sub-entity (Abnormal)].

This unexpected situation completely caught Chen Ming off guard.

He knew that sub-entity meant an individual within the entire Mechanical Race’s Hive Mind network.

He also knew that this situation was likely because his spiritual energy controlled the Mechanical Race.

But he was unclear about what specifically ”abnormal” after sub-entity meant.

Wait, Chen Ming seemed to suddenly understand.

He discovered that the Mechanical Race he controlled seemed to have disconnected from a kind of network, causing its computational power to suddenly drop significantly.

This Mechanical Race lost its cluster and the assistance of the Mechanical Race cluster within the city.

However, it seemed to have gained a slight ability for independent thinking.

This is what the abnormal sub-entity signifies.

Aside from this, there didn’t seem to be anything special.

Forget it, never mind for now.

Chen Ming put aside the issue of the abnormal sub-entity for the moment.

First, he tried to understand the previous events.

Chen Ming once again attempted to send a command to the Mechanical Race that had turned into an abnormal sub-entity using the tower.

This time, Chen Ming observed its behavior throughout the entire process.

Receive command.

Confirm command.

Feedback command.

Execute...

There was a problem at the step of executing the command.

Like how he couldn’t understand the core of Dusk, he couldn’t comprehend the computational process within the Mechanical Race’s chip.

However, he could see that within the Mechanical Race’s chip, receiving, confirming, and feedback were constructed into a loop.

And the execution of the command was excluded.

Chen Ming understood the significance of this special logic loop that was completely locked.

Because the fundamental logic was locked, it couldn’t be changed, and the only change would mean its death.

This completely cut off its potential to execute any external commands from the very root.

It could only rely on the internal Hive Mind Network to receive commands from the main body, just as it currently received commands from Chen Ming using spiritual energy.

Normal methods no longer had any influence on this or any other Mechanical Race.

After they completely eliminated the possibility of receiving commands,

they became independent mechanical life forms, rather than simply manufactured mechanical beings.

If Chen Ming could slightly understand the way Mechanical Race thinks and express these logics in a way comprehensible to normal humans rather than by using spiritual energy,

he could publicize this situation of the Mechanical Race being logically locked, and he would certainly have enough material to write several papers, earning some awards without a doubt.

Although it wouldn’t compare to an era-defining product like an antimatter reactor, it would definitely mark a significant point on the Empire’s path of further exploration.

Unfortunately, Chen Ming couldn’t do it.

He could only rely on spiritual energy to make himself understand this issue.

Chen Ming shook his head slightly.

He continued doing what he initially came for, searching for valuable things.

With the authority of the main control room, Chen Ming soon completely explored the entire tower.

He actually found a running, undamaged database.

Chen Ming immediately saved all the files inside.

Even though he couldn’t understand the text on the files,

he could understand the blueprints on them.

These databases contained blueprints of the early planning of the entire city’s construction, as well as some design blueprints of the Mechanical Race.
