Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 541: Chapter 177: Black Carapace_4

It’s not impossible to use this city as a permanent base; Chen Ming can use it as a bridgehead for communication with the Empire.

If something goes wrong and they get attacked, at worst he can just run and abandon this place.

After all, he found the city in the first place, so losing it wouldn’t be painful.

Besides the Mechanical Race, the Insect Queen should also continue to stay on the planet to grow.

Such a large habitable planet with no inhabitants means its entire resources can be utilized.

With more time for the Thorn Insect Race to grow, Chen Ming doesn’t know how far they can develop.

And there was another reason that led Chen Ming to this decision.

When the Insect Queen was recasting the Insect Nest a few days ago, he discovered something extremely unique about the Hive Mind.

All individual consciousnesses in the Hive Mind do not only exist within their bodies but also within the Hive Mind Network.

The death of the body does not mean the extinction of their consciousness.

As long as the Hive Network exists and doesn’t overwhelm in carrying consciousness, the consciousness of Hive Mind individuals can be reinserted into reshaped bodies after the Insect Race bodies are remolded.

The same applies to the mechanical beings of the Mechanical Race with Hive Mind.

It was then that Chen Ming understood why when beings of the Mechanical Race died, they showed no signs of revival after repair.

Evidently, Chen Ming needs to use the Mechanical Race’s Hive Network to split off a new entity within the network and insert it into the mechanical bodies.

However, currently, Chen Ming doesn’t control many entities of the Mechanical Race, even if he controls the entire city, it wouldn’t be sufficient.

Because the Mechanical Race is somewhat special, the level of consciousness needed to support their mechanical activity is completely different from that of the Insect Race.

So although Chen Ming can let the Insect Queen create new Insect Race individuals, he can’t create new Mechanical Race individuals; he still needs to control more Mechanical Race entities.

If it were merely this, it wouldn’t be much.

It would only accelerate the progress of cultivating or manufacturing the Insect Race or the Mechanical Race.

But the key point is that Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy can remotely transmit materials for manufacturing.

Previously, Chen Ming couldn’t use the method of transformation to remotely transmit Dusk entities because their consciousness was independent and extremely strong.

The transformative process during transmission would lead to their death.

But the Mechanical Race and the Insect Race are different; their consciousnesses won’t die because of the destruction of their bodies.

This means Chen Ming can dismantle the Mechanical Race and break down the Insect Race.

Then in new locations, manufacture the mechanical bodies of the Mechanical Race, and the insect bodies of the Insect Race.

The consciousness of these individual entities will be stored in his Hive Mind Network and, with the aid of his Spiritual Energy, appear where Chen Ming needs them, crossing vast cosmic distances.

As long as Chen Ming has a tissue from the Insect Queen to propagate or possesses the manufacturing technology of the Mechanical Race,

he can create the Mechanical Race and the Insect Race at locations of his choosing.

Of course, Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy can currently only manufacture mechanical entities.

The Insect Race is still confined by its biological essence and can only complete this step using the Insect Queen’s tissue, a process also requiring Chen Ming to master many complex biological technologies.

This is why Chen Ming plans to keep both the Insect Queen and the Mechanical Race temporarily on this planet.

The Mechanical Race needs continued control.

The Insect Queen needs continued development.

He himself needs to keep learning.

They all still need time.

So he made this decision.

Chen Ming rethought this matter in his mind.

He confirmed there was no problem.

So he temporarily put aside this matter which doesn’t require much of his ongoing attention.

Unless an external enemy comes to this planet, the creatures here don’t have any power to resist the Mechanical Race and the Insect Race.

They can’t pose a threat to them, so indeed there’s not much need for his involvement.

Anyway, before he leaves, he would definitely leave a Defender here.

It will certainly be useful when necessary.

Speaking of which, Chen Ming suddenly realized that he hadn’t seen the Mechanical Race’s ships in their city and didn’t know the situation.

But it doesn’t really matter; maybe he’ll encounter one in the future since the Mechanical Race is not as rare as the Insect Race.

So this matter is almost settled.

He should get back to handling the main business.

Chen Ming initially just came over to check on the situation of the Mechanical Race, but before he knew it, he had spent nearly a week here.

Next, he must refocus on what he needs to do now, which is finding a colony.
