Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 519: Chapter 172: The Feedback of Hive Mind Cluster Consciousness_2

It would be better to pinpoint the locations of different small databases and have his robots personally run a trip.

Chen Ming didn’t waste any time.

While the Mechanical Race was still handling the battlefield, he had his robots take the core and head to areas within the city that were beyond the influence of the high towers.

The entire city, on the map Chen Ming found, was divided into thirty-six regions, with twenty-three of them still under control.

There were thirteen regions left; today, it should be enough time to cover all of them.

The impact of the battle between the Mechanical Race and the Thorn Insect Race completely subsided three hours later.

And Chen Ming, after directing his robots to cover nine regions, finally found some clues in the tenth region.

Due to arranging the action route based on the robots’ location,

he had only now arrived in this relatively central part of the city.

Then he discovered that the control center’s database here was still running.

Although this database was also partially damaged, the undamaged part happened to retain all the video footage from the past six months.

And it was precisely in some footage from five months ago on a certain night,

that Chen Ming saw a bright light suddenly appear in the dim night sky, with something entering the atmosphere.

Although the darkness around and the fire produced by friction on the thing entering the atmosphere made it unclear what exactly it was, he couldn’t confirm what this thing was.

But at the moment this object entered the atmosphere,

Chen Ming saw the entire city of the Mechanical Race become active in the video, as they prepared for battle.

Even though no actual battle erupted until that thing landed,

seeing the recent Insect Race attack and the reaction of the Mechanical Race,

Chen Ming had ample reason to believe that what entered the planetary atmosphere from space was the Insect Race.

To find out what the Insect Race was all about, he would have to investigate the landing site of the Insect Race and trace the path of the object entering the atmosphere.

With video footage, everything becomes easier to handle.

Chen Ming first confirmed the flight path after entering the atmosphere using the footage, performing simple calculations to confirm the trajectory of the object before it entered the atmosphere.

Then, using the Supreme Point for high-power scanning, he established the positions and paths of all asteroids and such bodies within the planetary ring orbit.

Finally, through calculations, he backtracked the paths of these asteroids five months to the exact day recorded in the footage.

In this way, apart from the trajectory of the object entering the atmosphere, Chen Ming could accurately discern the stellar environment in the ring orbit at that time.

The only uncertainty was the newly emerged or disappeared celestial bodies over the past five months.

But these were already sufficient.

Because on the day that object landed, its trajectory calculated by Chen Ming happened to overlap with several larger asteroids clustered together.

Even though Chen Ming might have some calculation errors, his results could not completely avoid the positions of those asteroids.

These insects must have come from those few asteroids.

At this moment, Chen Ming suddenly wondered if he was mistaken.

First, he could confirm that the Thorn Insect Race was indeed a type of insect often found in asteroids.

Does this mean the Insect Race here also emerged from the asteroids, just like at the Space Station?

And did these Bubble Insects really evolve on their own?

A few questions quickly flashed through Chen Ming’s mind, but such matters need to be seen to be believed.

Chen Ming quickly confirmed the current positions of the few suspect asteroids and locked onto them promptly.

He immediately had the Supreme Point approach, intending to scan the asteroids.

But when he arrived, he found there seemed to be no need.

Because those asteroids had very obvious gaps, one side was missing entirely, revealing an interior that was completely hollow and filled with various disgusting proliferations.

This did not mean Chen Ming’s previous guess was correct.

Instead, it confirmed his suspicion that the insects must have been external invaders.

Because Chen Ming had the Supreme Point conduct a simple scan.

It was confirmed that the gaps on the asteroids were not broken open from the inside out but shattered using extremely violent means from the outside.

The insects invaded these potentially valuable asteroids and after some time, moved to the planet below.

After confirming that no signs of life existed on the asteroids anymore, Chen Ming dispatched a Shuttle Boat carrying several robots into the asteroid, which was about two to three hundred meters in diameter.

But after searching, the robots found nothing of value, only extracting some proliferations and a bit of green gel-like residue and returning to the spacecraft.

Their names were ”Thorn Insect Race Consolidated Secretion” and ”Thorn Insect Race Insect Glue,” and their uses were unclear.

However, at this time, Chen Ming finally found a very detailed research report on the Thorn Insect Race on different research websites.

It was a paper written decades ago by several well-known biologists, names Chen Ming had heard of.

This paper documented the specific details of the Thorn Insect Race in great detail, much more so than Chen Ming previously knew.

The Thorn Insect Race is not actually a rare species; in fact, it’s quite common, to the point of being somewhat rampant.
