Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 514: Chapter 171: The Reappearance of the Thorn Insect Race

The high tower itself didn’t appear to have anything particularly special.

It was merely a large-scale power facility capable of covering the entire city.

However, the lower levels seemed to have other uses.

After observing the high tower for a while, Chen Ming found a collapsed section of the wall.

No Mechanical Race individuals were active inside or outside the wall here, and there was no running surveillance either.

This allowed the robot to enter the high tower.

As soon as he entered the high tower, Chen Ming noticed a large area that could be navigated on the lower levels.

With his observation, he also understood the purpose of the lower levels of the tower, as well as those underground.

This was the control center of the city.

There were some... no, some biologics that once worked here.

These biologics belonged to a now-destroyed civilization, with a high probability of their species being similar to humans.

Thus, the designs here at the tower allowed Chen Ming to easily grasp their general purposes.

Unfortunately, this area was as dilapidated as the city outside.

Chen Ming instructed the robot to continue searching to see if there were any functional control panels, exposed data lines, or whether he could find the city’s database in the nearby levels.

Since many individuals of the Mechanical Race in the city were only dormant and not dead, the same was true within the high tower.

Therefore, it was best for Chen Ming to avoid any destructive actions for now.

During the search.

Instead of finding what he just thought of, Chen Ming discovered an archive.

It contained nothing but paper documents.

This confirmed for Chen Ming that there were indeed traces of the main species of that past civilization in this city, and not just that they planted a flag and left it alone.

This dramatically raised the probability that he could find something valuable here.

But there was a problem.

With the passage of time, these paper documents were barely maintaining their form, and any slight movement would result in their complete destruction.

Even scanning the content of the archives was impossible for Chen Ming, as the texts on these documents were already too worn to be recognized.

Nothing was left in the archive room.

Fortunately, Chen Ming found a still-functioning surveillance device in a corner of the archives, with some protective layers of the wiring damaged.

Chen Ming carefully aligned his view and directly connected the data line of the Gamma Core into the exposed data line connected to the surveillance device.

The archive room’s surveillance was linked to an independent monitoring room.

This monitoring room was quite special, serving to monitor some important equipment, such as the archive room here.

Though many of the images on the monitor were completely blank.

Chen Ming could still confirm the locations of some important equipment through the surveillance.

For instance, the bundled power cables supplying the tower and the city underneath it.

Chen Ming could see many heavy cables extending from outside the city into it.

At the starting point where the cables extended, there was a solar panel array protected by many Mechanical Race individuals.

This was a place that Refraction hadn’t seen last time.

When the Supreme Point scanned this area just after Chen Ming arrived, he realized its significance.

The external power lines extended from underground to the top of the tower.

Simultaneously, countless lines diverged at the base of the tower, connecting the entire city.

The entire high tower now had only the power supply equipment barely functioning.

Without subsequent maintenance, it’s likely these operational devices would also be nearly entirely damaged within a few decades.

Of course, this had nothing to do with Chen Ming; he was merely here to see if there was anything valuable within the tower.

With the location of the archive and the surveillance room, along with Chen Ming’s ability to restore all the surveillance connected to this special monitoring room.

Chen Ming quickly identified the distribution of important spots in the entire high tower, with the main control room’s location naturally revealing itself.

The robot quickly found the way over.

It found an entirely ruined main control panel.

After a simple transformation connecting the Gamma Core, Chen Ming once again used Maintenance Spiritual Energy to restore the main control panel to its original state.

The entire high tower was now under his control.

Chen Ming then discovered that, besides the basic control circuits, there was also much damage in the internal electrical network of the high tower.

This caused a power shortage for both the high tower and the entire city, and if not for many facilities shutting down and many Mechanical Race individuals being dormant, the whole city would have long been paralyzed.

This condition seemed related to issues with some power supply equipment, with a problem at the external solar panels.

This wasn’t surprising, as a large device area outside the city over such long years wouldn’t be in better condition than the interior.

In any case, it didn’t hinder Chen Ming from using the functions of the control room.

Besides the powerful repair effect that disregards Chen Ming’s own technical knowledge.

The Spiritual Energy Chen Ming possessed also had a special effect—no matter if he previously understood it, as long as he controlled it, he could harness its operational method through Spiritual Energy.

Though this only applied to the operational method, Chen Ming still had to spend time researching these devices themselves.
