High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2948: Chapter 1166: Zheng Qing’s Legendary Level

”——Perhaps because you’ve been at school, I feel you keep underestimating yourself.”

The gentleman’s slow voice echoed among the intersecting bookshelves of San You Bookstore, like a teapot bubbling on a small red clay stove, emitting an invigorating aroma.

Zheng Qing felt as if every shelf had eyes spying on the conversation, but as he secretly glanced around, all he saw behind the shelves was emptiness, not a single shadow.

”Ash Law tells us that acknowledging the existence of a problem is always the first step to solving it.” The gentleman placed a hand on Zheng Qing’s shoulder, signaling him not to look around and to listen more attentively: ”——Only by acknowledging your legendary nature can you receive the blessings of a legendary level...”

”I don’t feel...” The young wizard murmured in a very low voice.

”But to many at First University, you are indeed a legend.” The gentleman smiled lightly, and with no apparent movement, scenes suddenly flashed across the street-side window, each one featuring Zheng Qing.

There were scenes of him fighting with Arthur·Ness, meeting with the Hunters of Absolution, injuring Sepulano with a single shot, the Christmas night parade, and dancing under the moon with three witches.

”A freshman who forced the veterans to yield before even enrolling is a legend among the freshmen; a hunting team established in less than two years that succeeded in registering is a legend among hunting teams; injuring another veteran with legendary traits is equivalent to seizing his legendary traits; graduating within two years is a legend among Jiuyou students; in Shanglin Garden’s Spring Hunting, grabbing the tail of a young girl from the Tu Shan Clan, making her a legend among many aristocratic disciples; participating as a student in the shocking Black Prison event that shook the wizard world, is a legend to all First University students...”

At this point, the gentleman paused, coughed lightly, and finally added: ”——Of course, the most legendary, or perhaps the most shocking and incomprehensible, is that before you even entered First University, you impregnated the most renowned beauty in the wizard world. This, whether inside or outside school, is indeed a legend...”

”I did not! Poseidon was an accident!” Zheng Qing denied urgently, almost desperately.

”Many births are accidental.”

The gentleman sighed half-jokingly, seeing Zheng Qing’s wide-eyed stare, patted his shoulder for comfort: ”Of course, I know that’s not the case. But a legend is a legend because, in the process of being told, it tends to employ exaggeration and intrigue... what colors this tale with a legendary hue isn’t the truth, but Miss Su, the actual person involved, not denying these rumors. This implies that even if it’s fictitious, it can become real.”

Zheng Qing felt his face turning a deep shade of purple.

The gentleman glanced at him, choosing not to continue on the distressing topic: ”——And apart from those ordinary ’legends’, what truly enhances your legendary level is some other matters. For instance, I’ve taken you to see Bubble Yogg and Nicolas... meeting them straight-on and not falling into madness counts as a legendary feat; similarly, having been to The Land of Void, to some extent, counts as ’returning from the dead’; and some wizards know you possess a brand new forbidden spell, as we discussed before, every forbidden spell equates to a legend... as far as I know, within the school and the Alliance, some high-level wizards speculate whether you might actually be a Forbidden Curse Essence, considering the widely known fact that a wizard cannot master a forbidden spell.”

”Do I?” Zheng Qing was equally curious—not that he doubted his lineage, but was unsure if the gentleman might have secretly transformed him into a ’Forbidden Curse Essence’.

With the gentleman’s capabilities, such a matter isn’t impossible.

”No, you’re just an ordinary little wizard.”

The gentleman shook his head decisively but didn’t delve further into the topic, instead returning to the previous content: ”Additionally, some high-level wizards know you’re my last disciple... these relatively obscure legendary deeds, known by few wizards, but each and every one is a high-level wizard of significant influence within the Alliance, capable of profoundly affecting the flow of Destiny. The ’legends’ recognized by them contribute a legendary level that far exceeds that of countless ordinary wizards’ perceptions. In other words, with the recognition of these high-level wizards as anchor points, your legendary foundation is exceptionally solid.

In comparison, Small Colma’s legendary level is far less sufficient. From a big wizard’s perspective, she is indeed very young, but her advancement isn’t universally applicable, and her method deeply concerns both the school and the Alliance... more importantly, with a similarly aged big wizard advancing through a legitimate route nearby, clearly, as a Upper House Member of the Moon Council, Miss Su has a higher legendary level on this matter.

In an ordinary era, achieving a big wizard status at their age might carry some legendary hue. But now is already a legendary era, in these few years, truly legendary wizards have advanced one after another, even including one who successfully became an Ancient One... relatively speaking, a big wizard seems rather ordinary.

In fact, what truly counts as Small Colma’s legendary deeds are her actions in North District. Carving out a chance of survival for thousands of North District Mages, nearly recreating a sorcery tribe. This rivals the deeds of Ancestor of Werewolves and Vampire Ancestor. And her great efforts in establishing the ’Edge Academy’ added some legendary hues to it.

A young witch overcoming myriad difficulties, sending a group of marginalized children to First University, this seemingly ordinary yet almost impossible event is a seed named ’legend’, spreading among wizard groups, evolving into a powerful myth, becoming the spiritual belief of all marginalized individuals... this seed will ultimately grow into a towering tree, aiding her climb from ground to heaven. Unfortunately...”

The gentleman raised an eyelid, glanced at the engrossed young wizard beside him, shaking his head subtly: ”——Unfortunately, not now.”

Hearing that the senior hasn’t lost further possibilities, the guilt in Zheng Qing’s heart slightly eased, belatedly realizing the reason for the gentleman’s lengthy discussion due to the mention of ’Edge Academy’.

His face immediately clouded over again.

”——I still feel that I can’t really be the dean of Edge Academy.” He muttered, rubbing his fingertips as if trying to wipe away some dirt: ”Senior does great, why replace her?”
