High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2926: Chapter 1145: Two-Front Battlefield

Youth means impulsiveness, but also a lack of experience.

Unlike a true legend.

Although the Primordial and Taiyi Giant God Soldiers possess legendary combat power, they are not recognized as true legends, mainly because they have a weakness.

That is, the altar where the Wizard controlling the Giant God Soldiers resides—this is the only part on the legendary existence that isn’t legendary, yet it controls legendary power.

The school is well aware of this flaw.

Therefore, in the initial design, a complete set of powerful defense systems was built, from the outer layer of Gang Qi, skin membrane, bone, and flesh, which are defensive measures owned by Legendary Wizards themselves; to the middle-layer mist corridor leading to the altar; and then to the inner layer centered on the altar with the Altar Wall Guardian Array, along with the additional Guardian Hunting Team configured for suitable candidates.

According to the project’s initial plan, every member of the Guardian Hunting Team should possess Great Wizard Level combat power so that when they form a Battle Array, with the help of the Altar Wall Formation, they could have very strong fighting capability.

If an enemy indeed breaks through the layers of obstacles and intrudes near the altar, they must have already suffered great exhaustion. At this point, the Guardian Hunting Team could wait in ambush, even if the intruder is a legendary incarnation, it wouldn’t be hard to handle.

As for the true embodiment of a legendary wizard personally intruding, that requires another level of response.

Regardless of whether it is the Altar Wall Formation or the hunting team formed by Great Wizards, facing a true legend, it is difficult to make an effective defense. So for a true legend, the project’s solution is ’mutual destruction’—originally due to the limited ’consciousness’ of the operators, the legendary Giant God Soldiers might resist a true legend’s attack, but capturing or closely engaging them is still very difficult, and if they themselves rush in, they obviously assist the Giant God Soldiers greatly.

It must be understood, both Taiyi and Primordial operate based on the ’Yin Yang’ Forbidden Curse, which gives them a natural condition for self-destruction. Exchanging a Giant God Soldier for a true legend, from any angle, is a very worthwhile transaction.

In conclusion, the project team made comprehensive preparations for the altar invasion.

The plan was flawless.

Just a small deviation occurred during execution.

For example, the two Giant God Soldiers had not undergone trial field testing before being directly sent into the battlefield; for instance, one of the confirmable suitable candidates in the end wasn’t just not a Great Wizard, not even a Registered Wizard; and again, originally, the Great Wizard Hunting Team supposed to guard within the Altar Wall Formation hadn’t yet been organized, creating a huge gap in the inner defense system.

Now, Zheng Qing paid the price for this gap.

Due to the lack of hosting from the Guardian Hunting Team, the Altar Wall Formation wasn’t fully effective, Leviathan easily crossed the entrance and mist corridor, appearing outside the Altar Wall.

The good news is, the intruder was merely an incarnation of Leviathan.

The bad news is, Zheng Qing seems to face a nasty situation of ’internal’ and ’external’ double-line warfare.

Bang!

The first attempt by Leviathan to cross the Altar Wall hadn’t felt the power of the Guardian Array before it was heavily whipped back into the corridor by a thick blue tail, the blue anomalous dragon formed by R’lyeh’s obsessions rising high in the rolling mist, showing a grim yet interested expression: ”—— You’re right, young one! Too young! Looks tender and soft, must be nice to eat tenderly! Zheng, leave this small fish to me, haven’t tasted any for a long time, really itching!”

Zheng Qing first knew Leviathan’s true form is a small fish.

Of course, in the view of R’lyeh, descended from the Sea Demon King, probably all beings in the world are merely small fishes.

Compared to the young legend with spare attention on the word ’small fish’.

The mood of Leviathan’s incarnation, which got knocked flying, wasn’t so pleasant.

Dragging a long-handled great hammer, it steps back from the mist and returns beneath the Altar Wall, raising its head to look at the massive blue anomalous dragon, face serious. Originally intended to catch Zheng Qing off guard while Taiyi’s Guardian Hunting Team was yet to be formed, unexpectedly seems to have hit a solid iron board.

The origin of this beast isn’t clear, facing its legendary pressure, actually wasn’t affected at all, instead, the strange smell from it made him unconsciously tense up, hold his breath, inexplicably gain a feeling of encountering a natural enemy.

Natural enemy?

The legendary mind of Dark Beast turned quickly, trying to find information on its own natural enemy from a barren knowledge reservoir, but after pondering for a while, aside from Wizards, these creatures at the top of the food chain don’t seem to have other natural enemies.

”Eat me?!”

The thin lips of the refined Wizard slightly twisted, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth: ”—— Ha, I’ve always eaten people, suddenly hearing being eaten by someone, it’s truly a novel feeling!”

...

...

Boom!

Rumble!

Sullen thunder rolls restlessly over Buji Island’s sky, a massive golden-red Firebird fights a Giant wrapped in black flames in the clouds, red and black magical power twist in a tangle, explosions sound one after another, but both parties have restraint, redirecting most blast aftershocks to higher dimensions, which led to segments of magnificent auroras passing across the sky, signifying energy shocks causing high-dimensional cross-section displays in the real world.

Aside from magic power and physical level combat, the confrontation of Divine Thought hasn’t stopped.

Thought after thought wrapped in both sides’ ideologies smashed towards the other, behind earnest persuasion and clear logic were full calculations.

”—— You say ’wizards wasting time on mutual slaughter is madness,’ yet you claim you’re not mad. If you’re not mad, then what are you doing now? Isn’t what you’re doing now just ’mutual slaughter’? It’s just different rhyme endings of the same poem.” Professor Emma uses Montelio’s terminology to question the rationale of its current battle.

For legends, rounding concepts sometimes matters more than the strength of magic power—in other words, legends can break rules, but must justify.

Montelio cautiously returns a small thought: ”No, we aren’t killing... but awakening wizards’ remaining rationality.”

”Awakening rationality?” Professor Emma laughs loudly at the traitor’s argument, pointing at flashes of spell light under the clouds and beasts attacking the school array: ”—— Is that what you’re using to ’awaken wizards’ rationality’?”

To this, Montelio repeated with great piety what he had told the young crows countless times: ”—— Death transforms us into angels, causing wings to grow from where our scapulae like the claws of crows used to be. We love the school deeply, thus we become angels to protect the tranquility here.”
