High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2945: Chapter 1163: The Legend’s Duties

Relevant department?

Second responsibility?

Those two words combined in his mind immediately led Zheng Qing to a terrifying conclusion. Without a moment’s hesitation, he quickly waved his hands and shook his head like a rattle.

”Don’t come to me, can’t handle it... it’s deadly, old man!” The young wizard was so panicked that he was even a bit indiscriminate with his words and used the nickname for the gentleman behind his back.

After Zheng Qing entered the school in his freshman year, he encountered several forces both inside and outside the Alliance due to suspicions related to forbidden curses, nearly causing Su Shijun’s tail to be shattered in that sandbox mini world. If he really became responsible for forbidden curses in the future, the pressure he would face would no longer be just secret actions by several big wizards.

Just thinking about it made his scalp tingle.

But the gentleman did not give him the chance to refuse.

”Do you know the organizational structure within the relevant department?” The elderly man examined the scenery outside the window, completely ignoring the bewildered expression on the boy’s face.

”I don’t even know how many vice-deans the school has, how could I possibly know the organizational structure of the relevant department!” Zheng Qing realized the gentleman seemed serious, and he was at a loss: ”—Besides Teacher Baoyangzi and Cat Thirteen, I only remember a warlock code-named ’Forty-one’ in the relevant department...”

”You don’t need to worry about how many vice-deans First University has.”

The gentleman calmly introduced: ”There are supposedly ten, well, now eleven first-level institutions at First University: five academies, four research institutes, the School Works Committee, and the Professor Joint Meeting, with the total number of leaders exceeding thirty, but most people can only remember seven people—the Principal, the two Vice Principals, and the four Deans—of course, in the future, these seven might slowly become two Vice Principals and five Deans...”

”Old Yao holds two principal positions.” Zheng Qing, for some reason, thought of his own dean and quietly muttered, ”He’s the Dean of Jiuyou Academy, as well as the Dean of the Magic Philosophy Research Institute...”

”Because he’s a legend now, and a legend should have legendary treatment.” The gentleman finally turned his gaze away from the window and looked at the young wizard: ”—You’re now a legend too.”

Just a legend through unconventional advancement, Zheng Qing added in his heart.

”... When thrust into a pocket, its sharpness cannot be hidden. A legend, if not properly positioned, will cause turmoil in the entire school’s structure. This isn’t something you can shirk off simply because you don’t want to.” At this, the gentleman paused slightly, his tone a bit heavier: ”This is the responsibility of a legend, and you are already a legend.”

The last sentence sent a tingling sensation from his tailbone straight to his scalp.

He opened his mouth.

Unable to speak for a long moment.

”—Did you not mention the ’relevant department’ earlier?” Zheng Qing swallowed a little, noticing the gentleman did not mention a certain keyword in the eleven first-level institutions.

”A piece of clothing, with face, naturally has lining.”

The gentleman’s tone was leisurely, showing great patience: ”—If the eleven first-level institutions I mentioned earlier are the ’face’ of the school, then the relevant department and Black Prison are the lining.”

Black Prison, you’ve already seen it; although last year it looked a bit embarrassing, it wasn’t fundamentally broken, and rebuilding it is quite easy. The structure of the relevant department is even simpler than I’ve told you before—the relevant department was originally set up to manage forbidden curses, so its organizational settings are closely related to the several forbidden curses mastered by the school, categorized by generation into three departments—

Mount Buzhou, which manages the first-generation forbidden curses, responsible for administering ’Wild’ and ’Genesis’;

The Garden of Eden, managing the second-generation forbidden curse, responsible for ’Twilight of the Gods’;

Babel Tower, managing the third-generation forbidden curse, responsible for ’Dragon Han Disaster’—still remember that Profound Yellow Array in the Black Prison last year? It’s derived from the Dragon Han Disaster, and the people from the relevant department that showed up that day were wizards belonging to Babel Tower.”

”Which institution does Master Bao Yangzi belong to?” Zheng Qing thought about his professor for that ’Principle of Convergence’ course—if he remembered correctly, this Elder Wizard was listed as ’Judgement’ in the Great Arcana, as it was right next to the ’World’, leaving a deep impression on Zheng Qing back then.

It’s just that ”Magic Wand” offers very little information about Master Bao Yangzi, Zheng Qing doesn’t even know his age.

”Bao Yangzi’s position is slightly special.” The gentleman pondered for a moment before giving an apt metaphor: ”He doesn’t belong to any of the three institutions, roughly equivalent to the ’Chief of Staff’ of the relevant department... much like Professor An of Jiuyou Academy. After all, the relevant department is not a completely closed institution; it needs to interact with outsiders.”

”Then me...” Zheng Qing’s eyes lit up.

Master Bao Yangzi’s position seemed quite suitable for him! It doesn’t require bearing too much pressure, and it can also satisfy everyone.

”You don’t belong to any of them.”

The gentleman calmly looked at Zheng Qing, his tone carrying a rare seriousness: ”The old era will eventually pass, you don’t belong to that weighty world of ours. I won’t hand over the relevant department directly to you. The second responsibility I leave to you is your own responsibility... You need to bear the responsibility for ’Order’, and even some for ’Yin Yang’.”

Upon hearing he didn’t need to fully manage the relevant department, Zheng Qing let out a heavy sigh of relief, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curving into a smile—as for ’Order’, wasn’t it something he had always been responsible for?

”... You keep emphasizing ’second’, is there a third responsibility?” He half-jokingly said this, and upon seeing the gentleman’s expression, the smile on his face froze instantly.

His heart wished he could slap himself a few times.

”Indeed there is one more; don’t look at me with that expression—it’s the last one... Of course, this responsibility, you can choose to undertake or choose not to.” The gentleman looked at the young wizard’s crestfallen expression, unable to hold back a chuckle, finally not piling more pressure on him.

”Go ahead,” Zheng Qing sighed.

The saying goes, ’When debts pile up, one ceases to worry; when lice multiply, they stop itching.’ Two or three responsibilities—or rather tasks from the gentleman—all seemed quite similar to him.

”Edge Academy.”

After saying these four words, Zheng Qing’s expression turned strange. Not because he held any prejudice against Edge Academy, nor did he have any aversion to this obvious big trouble.

He simply couldn’t think of what responsibility the gentleman intended for him to undertake regarding Edge Academy.

”What do you want me to do?” The young wizard’s tone carried a hint of curiosity.

”How about becoming the Dean of Edge Academy?” The gentleman blinked: ”—Like Professor Yao, as a legend, you might need to bear more obligations.”
