High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2935: Chapter 1153: An Ancient Yet Novel Concept

”——Corruption is just corruption, why look for so many excuses!”

”The same rice feeds a hundred kinds of people, water entering a cow’s stomach can turn into milk, but entering a snake’s stomach it becomes venom!”

”——Taiyi, the rest is up to you!”

A few scoldings came from overhead.

Zheng Qing, who was hurrying behind Ms. Bella, suddenly stopped in his tracks, looking up. In the night sky, four brilliant points of light circled around the big crow, constructing a triangular Array resembling First University’s emblem, seemingly carving out a piece of space and locking Monte tightly within.

Although not currently riding Taiyi, Zheng Qing could clearly sense the magical aura emitted by those four points, belonging to Vice Principal Ruoyu, Professor Emma, Lady Shi Hui, and Old Yao, respectively.

It was the two witches who had just spoken.

On the contrary, Vice Principal Ruoyu and Professor Yao remained silent from beginning to end, simply maintaining that Array.

Of course, these details were not Zheng Qing’s focus. He strained to lift his head, staring intently at every movement within the triangular prism Array. Soon, he saw ripples appearing in the air, space rippling like water, then a large hand reached out from the ripples, grabbing at the airborne, screeching crow.

It was Taiyi.

No doubt about it.

With just one glance, Zheng Qing clearly sensed a peculiar yet intimate connection between himself and that large hand. This connection seemed not to be one-way; the huge figure following that hand as it reached out from the ripples seemed to perceive something too, suddenly lowering its head, looking down, meeting Zheng Qing’s gaze——

Whoosh!

Zheng Qing flipped over and sat up on the leaf boat, drenched in cold sweat.

The short yet thrilling journey in the ’other world’ had ended just as it began, but Zheng Qing felt no regret. Though his eye contact with Taiyi lasted only a moment, he had already received enough information.

Undoubtedly, that was another timeline of the world’s development.

On that timeline, Professor Montelio lost the opportunity to seize the ’Primordial’, and instead, excessively using magic led to quicker physical collapse. Hence, he had to rely on the power of the Starry Sky to sustain life, but ultimately, due to loss of control and rampage, he turned into a giant crow with legendary combat power within the academy.

The crow, mixing demon and starry sky aura, polluted the entire laboratory building. Realizing it couldn’t completely suppress this monster, the Protect Legal Formation of the school gave the school an idea, and the whole campus ’took off suddenly’—in the truest sense of taking off suddenly. Zheng Qing had heard that First University was alive, but he never knew it would run around like a living thing—but he fully understood why the school made such a choice.

Imagine, you are eating hotpot and singing, and suddenly someone dumps a pile next to you. Even if you kill that pervert and clean up the mess, its shadow remains there.

So, when it’s time to run, you run without hesitation.

”——I wonder what it’ll become afterwards.” Zheng Qing murmured to himself, feeling quite a pity that the exquisite fake mountain by Lin Zhong Lake wasn’t brought along by the school.

”All abandoned campuses are converted into hunting grounds.”

A familiar voice suddenly rang in the boy’s ear, cheerfully answering his question: ”—— Of course, depending on the pollution level, the opening degree of the hunting grounds will also vary. Many of the school’s hunting grounds come this way. Many of the hunting grounds you’re familiar with started as remnants of a school’s abandoned laboratory.”

Zheng Qing jerked back.

Almost twisting his neck.

It was the Master.

Standing behind him with his hands behind his back.

”Master!” The boy’s voice was filled with surprise.

In contrast, the Master’s tone seemed somewhat troubled: ”—— You always manage to create unexpected things. That explosion was one thing, and now suddenly running to such a ’high’ place is another. This leaf, originally, would have the best effect when you grew to a certain stage, at which point I would have already left...”

Zheng Qing opened his mouth, with many things he wanted to say.

For example, he wanted to tell the Master that in a few days he would graduate from school, and outside the school, he had a few more little sprite ’children’, whose identities were hard to define, and that traveling through time often felt dull, while selling Fu Bullets condensed from Curse Power was really profitable!

Also, he wanted to ask the Master why the San You Bookstore was always empty? How was the little sapling in the bookstore? Did those little sprites get Christmas presents this year? After graduation, should he stay in school or venture into a new world?

Moreover, he didn’t even know why he ended up in this ghostly place.

Would using that strange law book have any aftereffects?

He could now harness ’Taiyi’, causing landslides and earth-shattering with a gesture, like a true Legendary Wizard.

Professor Monte stole the school’s ’Primordial’, and his whereabouts were still unknown!

Amidst all the chaotic thoughts that surged at once, what finally slipped out of his mouth was something closely related to the current situation——

”Master! Did Professor Montelio become a Fallen Wizard?”

He remembered clearly that last year, in a class, the Master mentioned ’fearless bravery’ and briefly commented on Montelio, saying he ’was a young man with many ideas’ and that ’perhaps the school’s elders had a sliver of hope in his ideas.’ Considering the current situation, Zheng Qing felt it necessary to listen to the Master’s opinion again.

”Fallen... this word reminds me of ’justice and evil’.”

The Master looked at the streaks of light swiftly passing outside the leaf boat, a trace of nostalgia in his tone: ”The struggle between justice and evil is an ancient yet novel concept in the Wizard World.”

”True evil is not in Hell, not in the Abyss, not in the Starry Sky... but in people’s hearts, beside everyone, beneath your diaries and pillows. Like the venomous snake born along with the apple tree in The Garden of Eden, it was born together with the wisdom, morality, and ethics of wizards.

When you read a book, the soft voice promising you all the answers is the evil whispering. When you look in the mirror, the shadow smiling back at you and telling you that you can is the embodiment of evil.

Evil is like that; it creates itself.

In fact, evil was not evil at the beginning. Instead, it slowly developed into a concept with the birth of wizard society’s morality. A long, long time ago, ’sacrifice’, ’blood rituals’, ’bone tools’, and these kinds of magic viewed as evil and dark by modern wizards were actually the magic earliest contacted and mastered by our ancestors. In other words, this cruelty and darkness is the part of truth most easily grasped in the world.”
