High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2941: Chapter 1159: About the Threefold Book House

The blue phantom of the Little Snake hovered around Zheng Qing for a while, then silently slipped back onto the ’deck’ of the leaf boat, disappearing without a trace.

Zheng Qing sat cross-legged beside the professor, silently watching the stream of lights flashing outside the five-colored radiance. Gradually, his thoughts opened up, and the questions in his heart were no longer confined to his current worries but began to list the doubts accumulating deep inside him for a long time.

However, before he could speak.

The professor asked first.

”——Do you have any specific plans after graduation?” He folded his arms, tilted his head, curiously looked at the young man, his eyes missing the solemnity they had when discussing ’death’, appearing extremely pure.

Zheng Qing was slightly taken aback.

Because the question was too ordinary, too ’simple’, slightly out of tune with the current conversation’s atmosphere.

But he didn’t dare be careless with the professor’s question, immediately bowing his head to think seriously, fearing there might be some deeper meaning in the professor’s query.

After graduation?

He has thought about this question countless times this semester.

Initially, he fantasized about adventuring in the new world, following the footsteps revered by Deng Xiaoxian, hunting rare beasts unseen before, relying on a Law book and some talisman paper, venturing into areas where no Wizard had ever set foot.

But over time, and after several deep conversations with Professor Yao and others, he gradually realized how immature his previous thoughts were. As a holder of the Fourth Generation Forbidden Spell, he hardly had the choice an ordinary wizard would have.

So staying at school became the only option.

The professor surely knew this.

Thus, the ’more specific’ plan he mentioned should refer to another direction.

However, regarding what to do after graduation, Zheng Qing was at a loss at the moment — uh, sleep a full sleep first? After all, it’s been a tiring semester with nearly thirty major classes a week, and he was physically and mentally exhausted, so sleep was certainly the priority. And then? Braid Zheng Su 123’s hair every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? Groom Poseidon every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday? Date the Little white cat every weekday evening? Hunt in the Silent Forest with a few friends on weekends?

It sounded so pleasant.

But Zheng Qing doubted whether he could enjoy such leisure.

”——What expectations do you have for me?” The young Wizard, with a hint of cunning, threw the question back at the professor.

The professor was slightly taken aback.

”My expectations for you?” He chuckled softly, shook his head: ”I have high expectations for you, are you sure you want to hear them? This world is too dull. As the saying goes, ’running water never decays, a door-hinge never becomes worm-eaten’; a world lacking fresh infusions might slowly stink like stagnant water. So, I hope you’re the new version of the game rules — the old version is bloated and inefficient, with frequent errors, just like the first generation of Forbidden Spells that required hundreds of Big Wizards to complete cumbersome rituals — this state badly needs an upgrade. You’re like that little butterfly in the South American Forest, flapping your wings leisurely in your world, the tiny currents you create slowly evolve, collide, merge, and grow with the help of Chaotic Power, eventually unleashing an unparalleled tempest and storm in the old world without even realizing it...”

The expectation was too heavy.

So much so that Zheng Qing was shaking his head repeatedly halfway through, indicating that his small frame could not bear such a burden.

The professor chuckled lightly, shifting the conversation slightly: ”——Of course, in this process, I hope you don’t intentionally pursue a complete spiritual world.”

”Don’t?” Zheng Qing blinked, tentatively repeating the words he heard to ensure he didn’t hear it wrong.

”Yes, don’t.”

The professor nodded slightly: ”I know, traditional magic education is about pursuing a complete spiritual world. But you don’t exactly come from a traditional educational background. People often say, ’A tiger in the heart, delicate as a rose’, but I would rather you have ’a kitten in your heart, delicately smelling the fish’. Sometimes, being incomplete is the real completeness. Remember, life isn’t just about poetry and distant vistas; there’s also the current mess. Just getting by can be very comfortable; you don’t necessarily have to torture yourself. People living in this world need to maintain seven parts seriousness to live the rest of their life, yet they still need three parts foolishness to reward themselves.”

The last sentence was quite interesting.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but mull over it several times.

Then he lifted his head, suddenly asking: ”Professor, is the ’Three’ of the San You Bookstore referring to this ’three parts of foolishness’? Does it mean the bookstore’s owner must have three parts foolishness?”

The old man raised his eyebrows.

”I never thought of it that way.” He nodded thoughtfully, then shook his head: ”However, according to the bookstore owner’s meaning, San You Bookstore refers to having ’all published’, ’all being written’, and ’all yet to be written’ books in this bookstore.”

”What do books yet to be written look like?” Zheng Qing was greatly puzzled.

The professor pointed beyond the five-colored radiance, at those flitting lights: ”——Look at them, then think about yourself. In this world, each person can only see books within their own field of vision. But if you have enough understanding of the timeline and enough magical skill, you might see books that others can’t. Those books exist in the future, may appear, or may never appear. They can all be found in the San You Bookstore. The precondition is, you know the names of those books and have the ability to take them off the shelf.”

Upon hearing the words ’have the ability’, Zheng Qing realized this thing had nothing to do with him.

He was always someone without much ability.

However, a word from the professor’s previous speech caught his attention slightly.

”You said ’according to the bookstore owner’s meaning’ ——” Zheng Qing hesitated, repeating the professor’s previous words.

”I’m not the owner of this bookstore, just a ’manager’ or administrator of this store.” The professor evidently knew the young man’s hesitation, and he also needed to provide a word of advice on this matter: ”...Although sometimes, like Little Claus farming, I drive Big Klaus’ horses and after a long time, it feels like all five horses are mine. But that’s not the truth.”

”In the end, all five of Big Klaus’ horses belonged to Little Claus.” The young man’s voice mumbled a bit.

The professor glanced sideways at him.

Zheng Qing quickly corrected himself: ”——Well, I mean, professor, who is the bookstore owner?”

”I don’t know.” The professor seemed slightly forlorn: ”I also took over the job of bookstore owner from a previous ’Guardian Historian’... According to Them, the previous caretakers of the bookstore were also ancient beings, but They’ve all left this world.”

Zheng Qing felt his head buzzing.

”Weren’t you the first Wizard to break through the ancient being level?” He couldn’t help but exclaim: ”You just said that Azathoth dissolved into the immeasurable darkness of the universe, and the others had similar fates!”
