High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2917: Chapter 1136: Hollow Men

A gun in hand.

Zheng Qing immediately gained immense confidence.

Especially now, the gun in his hand was so large, the barrel so thick! Just thinking about the specifications of the Fu Bullet this python could shoot out made one tremble with excitement.

”——Are you ready?”

Elder Ruoyu noticed Taiyi’s gaze turning towards where Primordial was and let out a low chuckle: ”Never underestimate Professor Montreya... to leap two major ranks in a year, from a registered wizard to a legend, you wouldn’t find such an example even looking back a thousand years.”

The giant standing amidst the Cloud Sea laughed thunderously.

This time, Zheng Qing didn’t answer Elder Ruoyu through heart voice.

”——But I’m not even a registered wizard!” Taiyi’s confident voice echoed across the vast Cloud Sea World, the surging waves of sound dispersing large swaths of clouds, revealing the undulating black world below.

As he spoke, he had already raised the Charm Gun in his hand, poised steadily, aiming at Primordial who was running wild at the world’s edge, holding his breath and concentrating, ready to pull the trigger.

The next second.

His gun barrel slightly dropped.

Elder Ruoyu’s figure somehow stood atop his barrel, tapping the cane in his hand lightly, looking quite conflicted at the boy: ”——Are you sure you’re aiming at Montreya?”

Is that even a question?

Zheng Qing felt a strange feeling flash across his mind, just about to speak, suddenly feeling guilty—last time in the Black Prison, he aimed clearly at the demon, but Black Prison Castle ended up getting hurt instead.

Given Elder Ruoyu’s question now, it was certainly not baseless.

After all, he is a seasoned legend, not to mention divination skills, his mere caprice was far beyond him, a Side Door Legend, by unspecified times, the old wizard might have seen some terrible scenes on the timeline just now. He wanted to sort through the timeline himself, but as soon as he thought about it, countless possible future scenarios flashed before his eyes, leaving him dizzy.

Clearly, he had no time to carefully identify.

”Of course... well, it should be.”

The young legend responded ineffectually, quite meekly.

The short sentence was filled with tones of certainty and uncertainty, very much like the cat in the box. Just like the Fu Bullet in his gun now, before firing, no one knew if it would hit the enemy or an ally.

Elder Ruoyu looked rather speechlessly at the young legend.

Paused, then pointed the tip of the cane upwards, aiming between the Blue Moon and Red Moon: ”Montreya will be suppressed by me for the time being, you go ahead and shoot once over there...”

Although it sounded a bit like wasting magical power, Zheng Qing didn’t have much courage to argue, obediently turned the gun barrel, aimed between the Red Moon and Blue Moon, and pulled the trigger.

A surging wave of magic power surged up, giving him a slight tingling sensation all over. Near-pure white Spell Light blossomed at the gun barrel, flickering and disappearing at the junction of red and blue halos.

Boom!

Screech!

Accompanied by a blossoming red-blue halo, an abrupt and piercing howl echoed throughout the entire world. In the blink of an eye, as the halo dissipated, a fierce and terrifying massive figure appeared between the two moons.

It was a gigantic black ’snail’.

Its body was covered with tentacles of varying lengths, like octopus legs, and the tentacles were filled with eyes of various sizes—at this moment all those eyes stared uniformly at where Taiyi stood, their gaze filled with coldness, madness, and cruelty.

With just one glance, Zheng Qing recognized the identity of this creature.

That Black Snail!

Last time in the Black Prison, it was because this Black Snail devoured the Sea Demon King’s remains at the last moment that it successfully advanced to an ancient being, ruining Zheng Qing’s chance for redemption.

He thought he’d never see it again.

Unexpectedly, just a year later, the Black Snail reappeared in his view, and it intercepted his legendary version of the Fu Bullet with its body. Although the distance between them was vast, all present were legends, so the wound caused by the Fu Bullet was clearly visible, the Black Snail’s tree stump-like shell was pierced, the rough bark-like covering struggling to fill the gap on the shell, lumps of pale green slime oozing out of the hole, then being shoved back inside by its ’tentacles’, igniting a toxic and corrosive-looking smoke.

Ugh!

Within Taiyi.

The young wizard floating in the center of the altar couldn’t help but cross his left hand’s middle and index fingers, as a sign of bad luck, yet he clearly forgot, at this moment he was Taiyi’s driver, having just fired an unintentional shot with the giant, conspicuously crossing his fingers under public eyes, looking provocative.

”——Well, that’s not what I meant.”

The young legend became belatedly aware, hastily retracting the gesture, feeling that he was somewhat at odds with this Black Snail, hurriedly sent a thought to Elder Ruoyu: ”Is this the Black Snail that stole our sun? The one that tricked Professor Yao? Is it the same one in the Black Prison last year? Didn’t you say...”

He fell silent thoughtfully.

Clearly, Elder Ruoyu just now didn’t randomly point to a location.

”A few minutes earlier than I expected.”

The elder wizard didn’t seem surprised by this result, nodded slightly, walked a few steps down the gun barrel, carefully examining that bullet hole: ”Hm, the power was less than I thought... it’s just a Fu Bullet mixed with some Forbidden Curse Aura, right? Such a degree of Fu Bullet might work against a Grand Wizard but is somewhat inadequate against a legend. You need to get familiar with this combat style quickly, try to purify the Forbidden Curse Power when infusing the Fu Bullets... I look forward to the day when a true Curse Bullet appears.”

While speaking, he had already set foot into the void in the direction pointed by the gun barrel, heading straight towards the Black Snail. Almost simultaneously, another ’Ruoyu’ who was originally chasing Montreya withdrew upwards, taking a few steps, the two figures merged, and in a few more steps, Elder Ruoyu had become as small as a grain of rice in Zheng Qing’s eyes.

However, no one among the three legends present dared underestimate that grain-like figure.

On the contrary, the Black Snail confronting this seasoned legend had all its tentacles tense, especially the two thickest and longest ones on its forehead, each blue-black eyeball bulging, the large mouth at the tip of the tentacles opening wide, revealing spiral-crossed fangs, issuing waves of silent howls.

Elder Ruoyu seemed unwilling to disrupt the emotional exchange between the two Side Door Legends of the Cloud Sea World.

Lifting the cane in his hand, swiping upwards.

The void immediately split open to reveal an abyss with no bottom in sight, torrents of starlight swirling as they plunged downwards, along with the majestic Black Snail.

Elder Ruoyu closely followed, disappearing into the abyss.

The void closed, leaving a clear space between the Red Moon and Blue Moon.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but remember Eliot’s poem — This is how the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper.
