High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2930: Chapter 1149: Schrodinger’s Law (Two-in-One! Extra Update for Moe Lord ”Schrodinger’s Meal Ticket”)

Although the relevant department is affiliated with the First University, it is not under the control of the Professor Joint Meeting or the School Works Committee.

As of now, this department still only follows the orders of the headmaster.

Therefore, as soon as everyone heard Professor Yi suggest preparing the forbidden spell—which was akin to touching the core powers of the relevant department—all eyes of the Big Wizards present simultaneously fell on the black-robed members of the department.

This is a very sensitive matter.

Very, very sensitive.

The Big Wizards of the department remain silent; because their faces are hidden under large hoods, everyone finds it hard to discern their expressions. However, judging by the fluctuations in their aura, they clearly harbor some hesitation.

Whoosh!

A new azure flame suddenly blossoms outside the crowd.

The next second, an elderly wizard with white hair, a flowing beard, ruddy complexion, and towering stature steps forth from the flames. His booming voice echoes around the small terrace: ”—On the day of the solar eclipse, I confirmed with several vice-principals regarding the principles related to the department; without a directive from the Headmaster, the department will not participate in any school actions.”

Upon hearing this, the Big Wizards present frowned.

Only Professor Yi maintained a steady expression as he quietly observed the other party, as if knowing the elderly wizard was not merely here to repeat these well-known facts.

”—The legends of the school also agree with these departmental principles,” Master Bao Yangzi shifted the tone of his speech: ”The premise is, we need to protect the school... so, now I need to confirm a few pieces of information.”

”Please speak.” Professor Yi politely nodded.

”You just mentioned an enemy, who is the enemy? Who are they?” Bao Yangzi straightforwardly questioned—a detail difficult for a diviner to provide accurately, yet a necessary element for the department to confirm.

Only by identifying the enemy’s identity can we determine whether they pose a threat to the school.

This time, the gaze of the Big Wizards present returned to Professor Yi, as this was a common uncertainty shared by many others.

Professor Yi pondered for a moment.

”There is an ancient saying: when the wall falls, everyone pushes; when a tree falls, monkeys disperse.”

His voice carried a hint of reflection, his speech slow as he responded to the inquiries from the department, evidently aware of the weight of this matter: ”—The First University without the strongest guardian is like a fallen tree. Those coveting the fruits on this tree will all become our enemies. For instance, forces seeking the forbidden spell, forces wanting to escape illegal experiment supervision, forces aiming to develop followers among young wizards, forces trying to recruit school faculty, and so forth.

You are all Big Wizards, you should know the ’Schrodinger’s Law’ of divination; before the observed outcomes are disclosed to a third party, all possibilities for the future are divergent; but once known by a third party, they might quickly converge. This means I cannot reveal the conclusions I’ve observed to you, as it could sway originally neutral or friendly forces to the opposing side... I recall that the latest forbidden spell from the department is based on ’Yin Yang’ laws for convergence, and in real-world strategic scenarios, friend and foe identities can swap at any time. So, I can only tell you, our enemies are all who dislike the First University.”

”Like Montelia?” Bao Yangzi furrowed his brows, yet didn’t express dissatisfaction with Professor Yi’s rather ’muddy the waters’ type of response.

Upon hearing this, Professor Yi shook his head instead.

”Montelia likes the First University.”

He first refuted Bao Yangzi’s example, then acknowledged with a nod: ”But you’re not wrong, Montelia can be our enemy, or can be our ally. It depends on our choice.”

The Big Wizards on the terrace looked up in pairs or threes, gazing at the intertwined patches of red and black above, where two legends used to be their peers. However, one spent a long time on par with them at the rank of Big Wizard, while the other, until recently, had to look up to them as a registered wizard.

At this moment, the difference is vast.

Some wore complex expressions.

But more began to ponder the possibility of re-admitting Montelia.

”—Would Montelia be willing to return to the school?” A witch gazed at the black and red interwoven sky, seeming skeptical of Professor Yi’s suggestion: ”And what about those companions of theirs, would they accept the school’s recruitment?”

The head of the Divination Group kept his head down, carefully examining the ground where Cao Herb lay severed in two, answering lightly: ”That’s why I say, choices are two-way... More importantly, the school never issued a wanted order against them, giving us considerable wiggle room. As for the other newly risen legends, their advancement involved the Xuanhuang Fruit, thereby naturally entangling them with the school in causality... As long as we can get the school’s approval and conduct appropriate discussions, I hold a cautiously optimistic view on this.”

”Vice Principal Emma won’t agree.”

Another Big Wizard of Alpha couldn’t help but interrupt the diviner’s somewhat fanciful suggestion: ”... Perhaps Professor Yao and Mr. Ruo Yu wouldn’t mind accepting beings with Demon Bloodline as part of the school, but they must finalize this matter before Lady Shi Hui manages to strike down Montelia.”

Those familiar with the temperaments of the legends among the Big Wizards chuckled ruefully.
