High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1498: Chapter 242 True Word

”First University is not small at all.”

Following closely behind Zhang Ji Xin, Zheng Qing continued to speak, answering Nikita’s previous attempts at recruitment:

”The campus is vast, and there are many interesting places and people within the school. The sky above our campus isn’t perpetually grey; most of the time it’s blue, sometimes golden yellow or white.”

”You say that First University can teach me, that you can teach me... First University can teach me how to be human; can you? No, you can only teach me how to consume others.”

”You say First University can’t teach me, that you can... Indeed, First University isn’t very good at teaching people how to fall. And I don’t want to learn such things.”

”You previously mentioned that certain auras have disappeared from me, that is because I learned some minor skills from a few somewhat capable gentlemen at the despised school you mentioned, allowing me to escape your surveillance.”

Similar to the Female Demon, the Young Wizard on public expense kept on rambling, wasting saliva in this tense standoff. It wasn’t that he was interested in refuting Nikita’s invitation—in all honesty, that was part of it—but more importantly, Zheng Qing felt like he had overlooked some details, which made him hesitant to make a bold move even after the entire Absolution Hunting Team had assembled.

He hesitated in place.

The main Hunter of the Hunting Team was becoming impatient.

”Captain!” Zhang Ji Xin didn’t turn around but intensified his tone a bit: ”Better to cut the prattle! Everyone knows what the situation is!”

Xin Fat Man also spoke up to remind: ”She is our senior and has more hunting experience... To send her back to Hell, skill and strategy won’t suffice, we need a more direct approach.”

So-called more direct method naturally means to forcefully assault without thinking.

Zheng Qing hesitated slightly.

”The moment I saw you, you should have understood that what is meant to come may arrive late, but it will inevitably come.” Nikita’s hand under the sunlight slowly opened, her fingers pointing at the five points of the pentagram formation: ”... First University is dying, and the new world is beckoning to every person with courage, that’s why I left the sea, and you left the school!”

”Do you understand?!”

”Under the manipulation of Destiny, each of your struggles, just like insects trapped in amber, seem ridiculous and powerless!”

Zheng Qing didn’t completely understand the Female Demon’s words, but he could clearly feel a surge of anger brewing within him. Before he could contemplate the origin of this anger, he saw Nikita’s previously spread palm slowly closing and clenching, as if to grasp the beam of light coming through the roof’s hole.

The black bracelet on her wrist trembled slightly with the movement.

”... To fall or not to fall, does it really matter so much?”

The enchanting voice of the Female Demon echoed through the tavern hall, and her figure danced along with it.

Flecks of light dust fluttered in the sunlight.

Nikita’s figure suddenly vanished from the spot, and at the same moment reappeared above the heads of the five Young Wizards, swinging her clenched, delicate white fist like a hammer pounding nails, crashing down on the young people’s heads.

Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

Zheng Qing didn’t have time to react. A brave grey shadow darted out from the void, charging forward. The several duplicates of Furry Bean howled, their wide mouths biting down on that small fist, their sharp teeth shattered, but they also dragged the fist into the void.

Jiang Yu’s face turned pale; an azure jade ornament floated up from her hair and struck against the edge of the small fist. As the force of the fist withdrew, the jade too disintegrated into dust, drifting down from mid-air like fine snowflakes covering her spread-open Law book.

Xiao Xiao’s head was suddenly covered by a layer of golden-yellow, semi-translucent turtle shell that blocked the small fist, but the fist’s sharp edge was so fierce that it caused the shell to nearly collapse, with a faint sound of its inner structure breaking.

Xin Fat Man was not fast enough, managing only to tilt his head and expose his sturdy shoulder. A light blue surged beneath his pale blue skin, seeming to concentrate all his blueness onto his shoulder in an instant. When the fist landed, shattering that hint of blue, the fat man merely grunted and shrank slightly, appearing even plumper.

Of them all, only Zhang Ji Xin made an effective response.

In the instant that delicate fist was about to land, the lead hunter of Absolution Hunting Team roared and crossed his fists over his head, meeting the incoming blow with his own.

Bang!

Then he was sent flying again, crashing into the already destroyed bar area.

Dust rose, the scent of alcohol wafted, and the sound of shattering wood and bottles intermingled, creating an unexpectedly unique aesthetic.

Nikita’s figure returned to its original place, her clenched fist still bathed in the sunlight streaming down from the hole in the roof, giving off a faintly crystal-clear appearance.

It was only at this moment that Zheng Qing realized what had happened.

Not having time to check on his companions, he raised the Colt silver python that had already materialized in his hand, aimed at the silhouette standing in the sunlight, and fired a shot directly.

Bang!

The gun fired.

The corners of Nikita’s mouth curved upwards as she extended two fingers—she was confident enough to pinch the Fu Bullet between them—she could completely imagine the shock and despair on the faces of those little guys when they saw the bullet caught in her hand. She even started to think about what nice words to say later to further demoralize those little guys.

Then she noticed the expressions on the faces of those young wizards.

There was sudden realization, surprise, the assurance of victory, and hope shining in their eyes. The only thing missing was despair.

A sense of unease began to take root in the Female Demon’s heart; the Witch Demon’s intuition was screaming warnings inside her head.

The seemingly ordinary Fu Bullet had already crossed half its trajectory, and under the influence of air and Magic Power, its paper exterior ruptured, revealing a faint trace of blood.

A heavy pressure emanated from that trace of blood, causing the surrounding space to feel like it had solidified into a block, suffocatingly oppressive. The black bracelet on the Female Demon’s wrist trembled violently, and surprise and fear flickered in Zhuzhu’s eyes as she sat hunched on the chair beside her.

Nikita knew she had been careless.

Her two outstretched fingers grotesquely twisted back as her ten fingers danced rapidly, conjuring nine Dharma Seals in an instant.

”Presence! Soldiers! Fighter! All! Arrayed! In! Formation! Advance!”

Her mind went blank, with no time to grit her teeth over the cursed power of the Fu Bullet; she could only desperately muster all her Magic Power in an attempt to break free from the intense pressure as the bullet descended.

Nine layers of golden mountains descended from the void, one nestled within the other, forming a layered landscape that enveloped the Female Demon. Countless Evil Spirits appeared among the mountains, dancing and praying devoutly. There were also giant eyeballs and writhing tentacles attached to the nine great mountains.

The eyeballs opened, the tentacles danced.

The Blood Symbol Bullet landed upon them.
