Chapter 1461: Chapter 205: The Escaped Inspiration

A translucent flash of white light passed over the surface of the crystal ball.

That was an image captured by a wizard using divination magic, the center of the image featured an irregular dark shadow surrounded by dazzling white halos. It looked like a distorted solar eclipse, or a black hole envisioned by a sci-fi enthusiast.

”Indeed.”

Xiao Xiao nodded slightly, murmuring.

”Indeed what?” Zheng Qing’s attention had actually been focused on the doctor all along, his spirits lifted at once: ”Do you know the way to enter and exit this magic mirror?”

”I don’t know.” Xiao Xiao’s response was brief and quite discouraging.

”Then what do you indeed for?”

”I now understand the principle of how this magic mirror connects to the world in the mirror.” Xiao Xiao stood up, put away the crystal ball, and took out the black notebook before finally looking at his companions: ”Do you know of any methods to enter the world in the mirror?”

”Several methods?” Zheng Qing widened his eyes—he had entered the dream world only once, by being dragged into a dream by his teacher and then entering the world in the mirror through this magic mirror.

From what Xiao Xiao implied, there were more than one way to enter the world in the mirror?

This assumption emboldened him with more confidence for the upcoming exploration. Plus, if there were multiple ways in, might there also be multiple ways out? The last time, following Zhu Si, although Zheng Qing managed to escape the world in the mirror, it was a confusing escape. If there were more reliable methods available, of course, it would be much better.

As these thoughts rapidly crossed Zheng Qing’s mind, he suddenly felt that he had grasped some inspiration. However, the inspiration was fleeting—by the time he realized it was an inspiration, he couldn’t recall the specifics anymore.

Zheng Qing could not help but frown, trying to recall the thoughts he just had.

Xiao Xiao’s gaze lingered on him briefly, seeing that Zheng Qing had no intention to respond, he looked to others.

”I don’t know, don’t look at me.” Xin Fat Man noticed the doctor’s gaze, immediately waved his hand: ”If you give me a week’s time, maybe I could investigate some methods ... but as of now, I don’t know. Nobody really focuses on such obscure knowledge.”

Xiao Xiao curled his lips, disregarding the fat man’s jest.

”I’ve actually heard something about it,” Jiang Yu’s voice was hesitant as if regretting speaking up the moment she started, but as everyone at the scene focused on her, she had to carefully explain:

”I heard it from my grandmother... children dream a lot, so when grandma told us bedtime stories, she emphasized repeatedly not to look into the mirror at midnight, not to jump off cliffs in dreams, not to go down steps appearing downwards in dreams, and if you encounter guarded gates in dreams, also not to enter casually.”

At this, she paused, her face slightly blushing.

She felt a bit embarrassed discussing childhood bedtime stories in such a serious moment. However, the young wizards present weren’t foolish and didn’t mind this detail.

”Indeed, I’ve also heard similar things in my childhood.” Zhang Ji Xin quickly echoed, supporting Jiang Yu’s statement: ”Children from wizard families should all be privy to this common knowledge.”

”I just don’t know.” Zheng Qing muttered to himself, and then grew annoyed again. Because he felt that flash of inspiration pass through his mind once more. But he lost it again.

His companions did not know about the rich and ever-changing inner world of this young scholarship student at this moment.

After gaining Zhang Ji Xin’s support, Jiang Yu paused for a moment before continuing, ”... I remember there was a cousin who once asked grandma, why can’t you jump off the cliff you see, or walk down the steps you see? Nobody dies in a dream.”

”Grandma said, indeed very few people die in dreams, but there are not a few Wizards who lose their hearts in dreams. Hearts ’die’ in dreams. Jumping off a cliff or maybe walking down the steps in a dream might lead into Dreamland. That is a vast world beyond the Wizard World, a fantastical world beyond individual imagination...”

”Now that you mention it, I also recall having heard about a method once.”

Zhang Ji Xin also raised his hand to discuss a method he had once heard from the elders: ”It is said that there is a type of Wizard in the world who excels in creating dreams... they have gained favor in the World in the Mirror and can send others into the World in the Mirror through dreams. Hmm, somewhat like the ferryman on the River Styx, but I don’t know where the Dream Makers are or how they charge.”

”What does creating dreams have to do with the World in the Mirror? I was a bit confused when Monitor mentioned it just now.”

Xin Fat Man couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer and eagerly asked: ”Why does excelling in creating dreams gain favor from the World in the Mirror? Aren’t we discussing the World in the Mirror? Why does it feel like you are all talking about dreams now?”

”Because they both exist between illusion and reality.”

Facing Fat Man’s question, Xiao Xiao patiently provided an answer: ”Both the Dream World and the World in the Mirror are parts of Dreamland. Just like every mirror reflects a corner of the world, and countless reflections together form the World in the Mirror; every dream also abstractly sketches this world, and numerous dreams together integrate into the Dream World.”

”Wizards who excel in creating dreams, for the Dream World, are like worker bees in a hive, each dream they create provides a bit of honey for the hive. So gaining favor from Dreamland is not strange. Gaining favor from Dreamland also means gaining favor from the World in the Mirror.”

”Oh oh oh!! I remember now!” With his ears filled with his companions constantly mentioning ’dream’ ’dream’ ’dream’, Zheng Qing finally grasped that fleeting inspiration once more, and exclaimed loudly: ”It’s the dream! I remember now! The last time I entered the World in the Mirror, it was in a dream passing through this mirror, not in reality! Perhaps this is the real way to pass through this mirror! In a dream!”

In the midst of speaking, he eagerly looked towards Doctor.

Xiao Xiao nodded slightly, remaining non-committal.

But he continued to look around: ”Any more? Does anyone know any other methods?”

A brief silence ensued.

Xiao Xiao finally summed up: ”So, according to the information we know, there are five known methods to reach the World in the Mirror. The first is this mirror, ’Black Cat’ has already passed through it once, no doubt about it.”

As he spoke, he patted the Roman Column beside the Magic Mirror, causing the fervently sculpted little figures on the column to become extremely angry.

”...The second method, conduct a Magic Ritual, summon the Mirror fairy at midnight; the third method, dream, either jump down a cliff or walk down steps in a dream; the fourth method, find a Wizard skilled at creating dreams, and ask him to guide the way.”

Although there are four methods, there are five pathways.

Xiao Xiao counted on his fingers, analyzing one by one, finally, he raised his head to look at everyone: ”...But right now, all the methods we know are not easy solutions.”
