High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1481: Chapter 225 Two Little Girls

”Are you getting on the carriage or not!”

Watching the wizards chat nonchalantly by his pumpkin carriage, the carriage driver finally lost his temper, his mustache twitching up and down: ”Don’t think a piece of dried fish can keep me waiting for long!”

The Zu Ges thumped their chests vigorously, fully agreeing with the driver.

”My apologies.” As a witch, Jiang Yu always knew how to ease the tension at the right time. She bowed slightly to the driver and offered a repentant smile.

The Flower Cat carriage driver’s narrowed eyes suddenly widened, revealing sparkling amber pupils. This was because, when the witch slightly bowed her head, the pair of small white cat ears amongst her hair gently shook—a subtle difference clear as fireflies in the night to a cat.

”Oh, it’s not your fault, madam.”

The Flower Cat flipped over, jumped down from the carriage, tugged at its wide-brimmed hat with one paw, and extended the other paw toward the witch, seemingly offering assistance onto the carriage, its eyes filled with a smitten gaze, its voice returning to the previous stickiness: ”For such an elegant and noble guest as you, I can wait the whole night in the snow.”

A thick black tail obstructed the Flower Cat’s view.

”Does the city of Wusa actually get snow?” Zheng Qing asked the pumpkin carriage driver with a forced smile.

Following the black tail, the Flower Cat’s gaze moved to a dark red wizard robe, then upward along the robe until it met the face of a smirking warlock.

Its whiskers immediately drooped down.

”Destination!” The Flower Cat stretched its paw in front of Zheng Qing, its tone brusque: ”Pay the fare in advance!”

”Please take us to the Wusa City Museum, thank you.” Xiao Xiao stuffed two sundried, shiny, almost translucent small dried fish into the band under the cat’s hat brim.

”You’ll need to add a strand of squid, gizzard shad dried fish charged separately.” The Flower Cat flicked its whiskers, touched its hat brim, then sniffed its paw, its tone softening somewhat: ”...Short-Haired Street’s sewer exploded and is under repair, not many pumpkin carriages are willing to go there right now.”

The Zu Ges continued to slap their chests in agreement.

As long as they didn’t have to work, they didn’t mind spending the whole day thumping their chests here.

”You can detour through Maine Street to Boorman Street, it’s not congested there,” Xiao Xiao suggested—during the time he’d been in Wusa City, he had figured out the layout of the entire town’s streets.

”There’s a Paw Paw Parade on Boorman Street.” The driver touched his hat brim again, smelled his paw, and yawned out of boredom, still unwilling to budge.

A Paw Paw Parade? That sounded rather interesting, Zheng Qing thought regretfully, it’s a shame he didn’t have much time.

”If you know the way, we can get there ourselves.” The young cost student fished out several talisman papers from the grey cloth bag and showed them to his companion: ”I still have a few Armor Horse Charms... and I’ve also got Cloud Climbing Charms.”

”Taking the pumpkin carriage can save us a lot of trouble.”

Xiao Xiao shook his head, put away his notebook, and took a careful look at the Flower Cat:

”You can go from Maine Street to Boorman Street, then from Boorman to Sphinx Street, then turn onto Abyssinia Street, from Abyssinia to Dongqini, and finally to Aoxi Street... then just drop us off next to the market at the base of the temple.”

The Flower Cat finally let its paw down from the brim of its hat.

”Are you planning to take my job?” It meowed resentfully, sharply flicking its whip around: ”You can’t do it! Because you don’t have a tail!... Hurry up, you lazy bums!”

The Zu Ges lying on the ground sprang to their feet in fright at the sound of the whip, pretending to pull the carriage with effort.

”I may not have a tail, but my companion does.” Xiao Xiao attempted to pull Zheng Qing’s tail from beneath his robe but was stopped by the young cost student, who then shoved him forcefully into the pumpkin carriage.

”Stop causing trouble, the mission comes first!” Zheng Qing growled in a low voice.

Jiang Yu stood to the side, her cat ears drooping from laughter.

...

...

”Giggle~”

The crisp laughter echoed over the empty fields.

Clad in a black robe, Nikita shifted on the grass, transforming from a tall female demon into a short little girl, roughly six or seven years old, with one eye crimson and the other deep black, strikingly contrasting.

The three-headed Black Flood Dragon had somehow slid into the grass nest, its six eyes half-closed, betraying a cunning gaze filled with surprise and unease.

Sharing its anxiety was No Face.

Just minutes earlier, this tribute procession hailing from the Zu Ge tribe was marching steadily through the wilderness. Their destination was the small town occupied by cats in the distance, Wusa.

The Elders of Zu Ge led the procession, acting as guides; Nikita walked quietly in the middle, with a cloud of Shatake birds above her head, and a group of Ancient Leather Giants trailing far behind, with the three-headed Black Flood Dragon coiled around their arms.

No Face was by Nikita’s side, sitting leisurely on the litter the Zu Ge had raised, enjoying the breeze, humming tunes, and occasionally sipping the special fermented tree sap from the Enchanted Forest, thoroughly enjoying themselves.

But quite suddenly, Nikita, who was walking in the middle of the column, stopped, then bent her head, and her body began to tremble violently. Her silhouette twisted and deformed with the shaking, slowly shrinking.

In just a short time, the female demon vanished from this world.

And in her robe, there appeared a little girl ’No Face’ had never seen before.

A little girl with a fondness for laughter.

”My name is Zhou Zhou,” the little witch tugged at the oversized robe on her body, staggering towards No Face, waving her little arms excitedly, ”What’s your name?”

The Zu Ge lifting the litter shuddered all over, collapsing to the grass.

No Face fell down as well.

”My name is... Zhuzhu.” It touched its freshly painted face, hesitated, and replied.

”Are you a demon?” Zhou Zhou widened her eyes, full of curiosity.

”Sort of...” No Face was somewhat uncertain and counter-asked, ”Who are you? Where did Nikita go? Did she escape? The Mist Captain will eat her!”

At the mention of the Mist Captain, Zhou Zhou immediately shivered.

”No, no, big sister didn’t run away,” she waved her hands vigorously, hastily explaining, ”She was just a bit tired, so she fell asleep... and then I snuck out. Don’t tell the captain.”

”...Sneaked out? Where were you hiding before? How come I’ve never seen you?”

”I’ve always been in big sister’s dreams!” Zhou Zhou wrinkled her little nose, a proud look on her face, ”She hid me in her dreams, often keeping me company to play, and sometimes when the weather is nice outside, she lets me come out and see the sun...”

As she spoke, she suddenly hesitated, turning her head to look around, ”But where is this...”

Then she looked down at her body and sprung up in surprise, the excessively long robe immediately tripped her, causing her to scream in pain.
