High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1495: Chapter 239: The Greatest Justice (Thanks to ZeYiii for the tip~)

No Face is the killer who murdered the Little White Cat.

Jiang Yu had been pursuing the killer for almost a year, and for this, she had spent a great deal of extra time in the library, consulting various materials and even resorted to using targeted transformation potions to turn into a Little White Cat, in an attempt to lure out the killer.

But there had been no results.

It wasn’t until Liu Fei Fei’s pet snake exposed its whereabouts and the identity of the Faceless Demon was confirmed by the academy that Jiang Yu found her actual target. But from then on, the cunning Faceless Demon, like leaves disappearing in the forest, left traces everywhere, yet always eluded capture.

This time, Jiang Yu agreed to come to Dreamland, partly because of Zheng Qing’s invitation, and partly because the news brought by Furry Bean caught her interest. For Furry Bean had said that the Faceless Demon might appear in Dreamland.

Five scorching Fireballs, embedded with the Witch’s fury, accompanied by scalding winds, crashed toward the little Female Demon sitting on the chair.

The little Female Demon blankly stared at the Fireballs, her crimson eyes fixated on the red flames, seemingly unable to react in time.

But not reacting does not mean being in danger.

Just as the five Fireballs were about to explode upon impact, a huge cyan-black claw materialized out of nowhere, crushing the Fireballs in its palm like squeezing five glass orbs, with a firm grip.

Under pressure, the Fireballs shattered, white-hot magma leaking through the gaps of the claws, signifying the power of the magic just cast, while also highlighting the terrifying extent of the two Female Demons present—Zheng Qing reckoned that even if he used the Charm Gun, he wouldn’t have been able to deal with such a sudden and ferocious attack with such ease.

After crushing the Fireballs, the cyan-black giant claw turned into a puff of cyan-black mist and disappeared into the air.

”Scared me to death!” The little Female Demon patted her chest, her mouth shouting words of shock, yet her eyes remained as cold and indifferent as ever, crimson with a hint of mockery.

Tap, tap, tap.

Clear yet heavy footsteps, accompanied by fluctuating Magical fluctuations, came from behind Zheng Qing. The Warlock turned around and saw Jiang Yu step forward, one hand clutching the Law Book and the other holding the Jade Talisman.

He and Xiao Xiao immediately exchanged glances, cautiously shifting positions, adapting to the battle formation after the movement of the Witch.

”It was you who killed Little White,” said the Witch, staring at the little Female Demon.

”Who’s Little White?” asked the little Female Demon, feigning ignorance.

Jiang Yu lowered her eyes, silent for a moment, then replied, ”The Little White Cat that died in front of Lin Zhong Lake last year.”

”Oh, that one,” the little Female Demon politely said to the Witch, ”It was an accident... I was just playing with it, but it accidentally saw my face. The captain says one must not be seen during a mission. Anyone who sees my face must die. So it died. Oh, and by the way, those cat ears of yours are really pretty.”

Her tone was earnest.

Her words were common.

But beyond that commonplace, there was a flatness—the kind that regards life as nothing, that chilling nonchalance toward life and death. Zheng Qing preferred to call it ’cruelty’.

”You even gouged out its eyes,” the cat ears on the Witch’s head pulled outward, as she clenched the Law Book in her hand, her voice trembling slightly: ”It was so small! Just a little bit... just a little...”

The little Female Demon scratched her head, spreading her hands, ”Eyes can reveal too much information, and the school has so many powerful Diviners... I definitely don’t want to be thrown into the pot by the captain before completing my mission.”

Jiang Yu took a deep breath, and the Law Book in her hand suddenly surged with tumultuous Magic Power, but in the next moment, the little Female Demon’s voice interrupted:

”From your stance, are you trying to kill me?!”

”You’re making up so many excuses, but isn’t it just because you want to kill me?” the little female demon said, suddenly clutching her stomach, pointing at the witch opposite her while bursting into crazed laughter: ”Hahaha... Save the pretty words like revenge for a cat or justice for wizards for someone else!”

”You think you’re avenging a cat? No, you’re just pitying that little bit of hypocrisy in your heart, maintaining the order of your own existence! You judge other species with your morals, just like a flock of sheep judging a wolf!”

”Isn’t Jiuyou Academy proclaimed to be the fairest and most equal? Aren’t you students of Jiuyou? Do you dare to judge this matter with a fair and equal mindset?”

”As long as wizards and demons are subject to two different moral systems, you will never achieve true justice. So, if you want to kill me, or any other demon, just do it directly.”

”Stop always climbing atop your moral summit, crowning yourselves with the title of justice, and wagging your fingers at us! To us, fairness is survival of the fittest, staying alive is the greatest justice!”

”I’m merely enforcing our version of justice!”

”This world belongs to all living beings! It’s not the world of wizards!”

”If you want to kill me, then come on!”

The little female demon’s excited and shrill voice echoed throughout the tavern hall, but there were few listeners. Most customers in the tavern had scattered in panic, screaming and scrambling out, as soon as the five fireballs exploded, not sparing the servants either.

The butterfly doors at the entrance of the tavern were crushed, with the left panel completely falling off onto the floor and the right one hanging halfway on the hinges. A breeze slipped into the tavern and made the half door creak noisily, adding an irritating backdrop to the little female demon’s shouting.

Slap!

In the midst of the little female demon’s screams, Jiang Yu took a step forward, her foot heavily stomping on the floor, her black hair rising without wind, and the surge of her magical power grew more intense.

”Killing you has nothing to do with morality!”

The witch gritted her teeth, lifted her head, her eyes not swayed in the slightest by the female demon’s words, becoming even more resolute instead: ”Debt is paid back, life is compensated by life! Your death is not because you’re a demon, but because you killed my cat!”

Crack!

The jade pendant she had been clenching in her palm suddenly shattered, and the green magic power surged tumultuously. As Jiang Yu pointed with her finger, it turned into a green Giant Dragon, with bared fangs and claws, lunging straight at the little female demon a few meters away:

”...so, die!”

”Aaaah... Demon... Die... Boom!!!”

Almost the moment the green Giant Dragon formed, a cry, initially distant, traveled from the streets outside the tavern into the hall, vibrating everyone’s eardrums.

And then, as the green Giant Dragon left Jiang Yu’s fingertip and collided with the little female demon.

A red figure smashed through the walls of Minis Tavern with force, bursting into the standoff. The severe impact, along with the scattering bricks and wood, didn’t slow down the red figure at all.

He was like a cannonball, ferociously slamming into the lower jaw of the green Giant Dragon.

The Giant Dragon let out a wail, leapt high, broke through the ceiling, and disappeared as a streak of light into the dazzling air.

Leaving everyone in the room.

Stunned.
