Chapter 1468: Chapter 212: Female Demon and Ancient Leather Giant

In the real world, if you despise everything before your eyes, just close them and silently listen to the sound of the wind and the rain.

But in the Dreamland, this method doesn’t work.

Because the wind in the Dreamland is not the airflow from the interweaving of heat and cold, and the rain is not water droplets formed by the condensation of water vapor.

The raindrops in the Dreamland encapsulate scenes from some corner, some moment of the real world; the wind of the Dreamland is entwined with a variety of shattered emotions that people once possessed, as well as those memories that are about to fade away.

Thus the rain here is colder than outside, and the wind more likely to make one feel suffocated.

Once, Nikita had only read about the wind and rain of this world in books and had fantasized about how pleasant it would be to roam in such weather with the Warlock who owned a pair of emerald eyes.

Until today, when she walked amid such sounds of wind and rain, her heart no longer held those past fantasies, and the emerald eyes were no longer beside her, only a porcelain-like, monotonous face carefully following her steps.

This place is the Silent Forest.

A forest deep within the Dreamland.

In this forest filled with magic power and mystery, countless short but stout oak trees twisted and coiled, forming pathways made of branches, shrubs, and mushrooms.

These pathways lead everywhere, connecting the various areas of the Dreamland and also breaking the bounds of time and space to reach some corners of the real world.

Nikita came here to replenish her army of magical beasts with some strong combatants, ones that Silent Forest did not have, to scare those old fossils at the school.

Such as Ghouls, Ancient Leather Giants, Nightmares, Cold Spiders, Giant worms, etc.

”Those Demons look pretty formidable, why didn’t you accept their Sincerity?” No Face asked with a delicate voice filled with flattery—Nikita would not allow it to draw her mouth, nor use her voice. Thus, No Face eventually painted a small mouth for itself from memory, one that left a deep impression.

The Female Demon walked with her hands behind her back, head tilted upwards, eyes closed, stepping on the dark, humus-rich layer of the Silent Forest, feeling the rain of the Dreamland slide through tree branches and fall upon her brows and lashes, touched by that emotional breeze.

The wind faintly carried screams from behind the forest trees nearby, but it did not in the least affect her mood of appreciating nature.

Coiled around her wrist was a snake as thick as a chopstick, pitch black with three heads—a gift from the Captain of the Mist Ship, a three-headed Black Flood Dragon that had been living in the Silent Forest for a long time.

Two heads of the Black Flood Dragon rested together, soundly asleep in the sounds of wind and rain of the Dreamland, while the awake head opened its small mouth full of sharp fangs, malevolently sizing up the No Face Small Demon following behind the Female Demon.

A long while after No Face’s question dissipated in the winds and rains, Nikita responded as if she had just heard it.

”Too weak, so useless,” she replied in a low voice, still tilting her head back with eyes closed: ”Only in this world can they show some degree of ferocity... But even compared to the most degenerate Demons, they are too ugly and filthy. No magic is needed, just drag them under the Sun, and they would turn into a wisp of green smoke. Such lowly soldiers are of no use to us.”

”Sounds like those inferior Thralldoms.”

”Thralldoms are a breed created by Vampires based on certain traits of Demons.”

After this exchange of questions and answers, the forest once again fell into silence.

Not far away, the screams behind the trees continued, now mixed with the noise of collapsing trees.

Nikita was very fond of the wind and rain of this world; they irrigated her long-dry heart, reminding her of many distant yet beautiful memories from before her fall. Hence, she indulged in greedy silence.

No Face was indifferent to these winds and rains, feeling that they were mixed with a lot of buzzing noise, like mosquitoes from the outside world. It stayed silent solely because it did not know what to say.

After all, it had no face, and even its mouth was borrowed from someone else.

The new mouth it borrowed did not like to speak much.

...

The moment a few young wizards from the Absolution Hunting Team stepped through the Magic Mirror passage into the Dreamland, several bolts of lightning struck across the sky over the Silent Forest, the thunder’s roar awakening the entire forest. It suppressed the faint screams within the woods.

Nikita finally opened her eyes.

No Face looked at her in panic and then surveyed the surroundings.

”Is this the world’s rejection of us?” It was rarely exposed to such scenes, hence the voice was filled with immense unease: ”Is it because we’ve been too harsh on the natives?”

Nikita’s gaze drifted through the gaps in the leaves, observing the silvery lightning in the midair.

”No,” she furrowed her brows slightly, a smile on her lips but her voice was very cold: ”Be it us or those natives, we are all too weak, so insignificant that the world would not notice the existence or extinction of such ants.”

”Those lightnings...”

”They are a warning,” the Female Demon replied: ”As the saying goes, dreams are born from the heart, and the heart gives rise to cause and effect. Everything we encounter in the Dreamland is inseparably connected to the karma entangled with us. This is not the world’s rejection but a reminder from it to us.”

”A reminder?”

”A reminder that our journey in the Dreamland will come across some interesting companions.”

There was no distinction between day and night in the Silent Forest; the rich branches and leaves of the oak trees intermingled, nearly obscuring the entire sky. Swaths of mottled mist flowed through the air, bringing dim light to beneath the tree canopies; an array of exotic mushrooms scattered phosphorescent light, illuminating the darker ground beneath the oaks.

The screams from afar finally subsided somewhat.

The Female Demon, along with her companions, walked forward, bypassing a tall oak tree to arrive at a clearing in the forest.

In the center of the clearing, a huge creature twenty feet tall slumped over. It was covered in black fur, and its forearms split into two at the halfway point, resembling some mutated Multi-Arm race; its vertically oriented mouth was full of yellowing teeth, and from within the skull, its eyes flickered with captivating pink light.

This was an Ancient Leather Giant.

Currently, its two front arms were twisted to either side in a very unnatural way; it was clear that it wasn’t just the bones that were broken. In its mouth, only a few segments of yellowed tooth roots remained, trembling on the slimy gums.

Humiliation and appeasement filled its pink eyes.

The Ancient Leather Giants did not have a language; they communicated mainly through facial expressions and body movements. As its forearms were fractured, the giant could not use body movements and thus could only strive to twist the muscles of its face in an attempt to express its grateful subservience to the two witches before it.

Only its ugliness made its contorted expression appear extraordinarily ferocious.
