High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1464: Chapter 208 On the Beach

The dense fog reduced visibility to less than ten meters.

As everyone had anticipated, upon entering the mist, they were scattered. Zheng Qing could not see any of his companions within sight, only the silent ancient trees around him and the moss-covered stone path underfoot.

Lifting his hand, the blue cord on his wrist had lost its vibrant color from the exhibition hall and became lifeless. After a few simple attempts, Zheng Qing realized that the magic cord prepared by Xiao Xiao to connect with his companions was not effective.

Perhaps the nature of magic in the Dream World is different from the outside world; perhaps the distance between them was too far; perhaps interference occurred when entering the dream, destroying the magic on the blue cord.

In any case, Zheng Qing now needed to think of a new way to find the other hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team.

The path paved with blue stone slabs wound its way into the depths of the fog.

All around was dead quiet, not a sound to be heard.

Within the mist, one could not distinguish east from west, north from south.

Zheng Qing took out the Law book and carefully cast a spell:

”Fixed In The Middle!”

This was a magic spell for finding direction. After the incantation, far above the young wizard’s head, several stars suddenly shone brightly through the dense fog, catching the wizard’s eye.

Those were the North Stars, which Xin Fat Man always liked to call the Aquarius Palace.

Zheng Qing breathed a sigh of relief and put away the Talisman paper he had been secretly holding between his fingers. The fact that no person or anything else had interfered with his casting of the spell meant that the surrounding environment was generally safe.

He opened the Law book again and took out a feather pen to quickly write a new spell on the page where the previous location spell had dissipated. This Law book, provided by the school for compensated students, was of average quality and could only accommodate less than ten spells. Zheng Qing had no intention of wasting any of the blank pages.

After writing, he did not pause; his feather pen touched the key points of the spell formula and he chanted softly, ”Bird calls ying ying, seeking the sound of friends!”

A crisp bird call broke the fetters of the mist and reached the ears of the young wizard. Soon after, a glint of gold flashed in the distance, indicating the position of a companion marked by the magic spell.

Zheng Qing’s face had just begun to show a trace of joy when the white mist around him quickly began to roll, swallowing up the gold glint. Then, as the mist dissipated, dozens of gold glints simultaneously appeared in front, behind, and all around the young wizard.

No contact spells were allowed in today’s Dream World.

This was different from last time.

Zheng Qing’s expression darkened somewhat, and with a frown, he began to ponder which spell he should use next, or what choice Xiao Xiao would have made if he were in his position.

Another blank page appeared in the Law book.

Holding the feather pen, Zheng Qing transcribed a new spell while mulling over his next move.

Before the spell was complete, a few familiar cat meows came from deep within the mist.

Meow~

The calls were soft, yet lacked the stickiness of a common cat’s meow. Zheng Qing’s eyebrows lifted in surprise as he looked towards the direction of the calls.

Soon, accompanied by the flow of the white mist, a gray silhouette emerged into Zheng Qing’s vision.

It was Furry Bean.

Gouzi crouched in front of the Warlock, wagging its tail happily.

Zheng Qing took a joyful step forward, but then he suddenly remembered that this was the Dream World and thought of the dangers of this world. The foot he had just stepped out with quietly retracted.

”Haotian says it’s dawn, Clearly Visible!” He first cast a Magic on himself, a combined Spell that leverages the bright eyes of Haotian to pierce through falsehood, not to be deceived by illusions.

The Magic Effect of this spell was limited in time. Utilizing the Magic Power of the chant, Zheng Qing quickly scanned his surroundings. The mist remained, but the ancient trees and the Blue Stone Slab path had vanished, turning into mist as well, except the mist forming the ancient trees and the path was somewhat grey, as if mixed with some impurities.

As for Furry Bean, under this Spell, it still looked like a dusty Gouzi.

This slightly relieved the young cost student.

As the Spell was about to end, he took out a stack of Talisman paper from his pocket and threw them onto Gouzi — including Anti-evil charm, Demon Exorcising Charm, Spell Breaking Charm, Demon Suppressing Charm, and so on.

Colorful Talisman lights shone on Gouzi, making its innocent face exceedingly Clearly Visible.

”It’s good if it’s you,” the Warlock exhaled deeply in relief.

”Meow~” Gouzi meowed, blinked its eyes, as if to say who else could I be if not myself?

”This is a Dream World, after all, not outside. It’s inevitable that some odd creatures like to impersonate others.” Perhaps because he was in the Dream World, many thoughts that would normally just circulate in his mind couldn’t help being spoken out loud by Zheng Qing.

It felt somewhat like the time he entered The Land of Void after Self-Destruction, but the good thing about the Dream World compared to The Land of Void was that not all thoughts would manifest in the dream. As long as Zheng Qing strived to Block them, many thoughts would still be concealed.

From the depths of the Mist, strains of Sanskrit chanting were faintly heard.

It was the sound of Zheng Qing silently reciting the Heart Sutra within his heart.

”Do you remember the scent of the others?” While controlling his thoughts, Zheng Qing looked at Furry Bean and instructed: ”Lead me to them.”

Gouzi stood up, wagging its tail, meowed, and then whooshed into the Mist.

Zheng Qing, holding a Colt Python he had visualized in his hand, hurriedly followed Furry Bean, chasing after that grey Tail swaying in the depths of the Mist.

His red Academy robe flaring out, he was oblivious to the fact that a black cat Tail had peeked out from the hem of his robe, swaying with his run in the wind.

The first to be found by Gouzi was Xin Fat Man.

He was sitting on a pristine beach with his sketchpad, drawing from life.

The azure sea churned with white foamy waves at its edge, and the golden sand was piled into undulating mounds. Colorful parasols dotted the landscape, hiding the languid figures reclined beneath them.

Xin Fat Man’s eyes greedily followed the lithe figures on the beach who were frolicking and shouting with joy, occasionally wiping the drool from the corner of his mouth. To his left was a complete roasted camel, while to his right was a small mountain of various sweet treats and pastries.

Zheng Qing almost didn’t need to use any Magic or Talisman to confirm that it was indeed Xin Fat Man himself — aside from his obsession with food and beautiful women, Xin Fat Man’s distinct indigo skin was also a very noticeable indicator.

Apart from his physique, the fat man presented before Zheng Qing at this moment was exactly like how he looked after transforming into the Blue Giant.

Zheng Qing didn’t think the Elves in the Dream World could simulate Xin Fat Man’s bizarre and uncommon thoughts.

”You should restrain yourself a bit,”

Following Gouzi, the young cost student came up to Xin Fat Man and while throwing a few Talisman papers onto Xin Fat Man, he reminded: ”You need to remember, there’s a Witch in our team... you have to learn to Control yourself.”
