High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1476: Chapter 220: Choosing a Stealth Method

”This is the fatty... no, the Elder... no, that’s the Doctor?”

”Meow!”

”So this is the fatty... and the Elders?”

”Meow!”

”The fatty and the Elders are together?”

”Meow!”

With a flick of its black tail beneath the cloak, Zheng Qing stood up and turned to look at Jiang Yu: ”That’s roughly the situation... What do you think? Which side should we go to first?”

Jiang Yu frowned, staring at the two dog paw prints on the crude map, her cat ears inadvertently twitching to the sides, revealing a hint of difficulty on her face.

Because no matter Xiao Xiao, or the fatty, or Zhang Ji Xin, none were close to their location. If she asked them to gather in the Enchanted Forest, it would surely take a lot of time on their way.

”It seems we should center around the Doctor and set off then,” the Witch finally suggested, raising an index finger: ”Firstly, the distance between all three parties is more or less the same, but from our angle, the area around the Doctor’s location is mostly within our line of sight, where the potential danger is controllable, whereas the mountain area where the Elders and the fatty are located is currently out of our observational reach.”

”Whether it’s the forest or the mountains, neither is the best choice for gathering,” Zheng Qing nodded, agreeing with the Witch’s point.

Jiang Yu raised a second finger, continuing her analysis: ”Secondly, according to information provided by Furry Bean, the Doctor is currently alone, whereas the rest of us are in pairs. This, relatively speaking, means either of us or the fatty and the Elders would be safer on the journey, capable of withstanding the risks of long-distance travel.”

”Thirdly, this place is not safe,” Zheng Qing glanced at the dead mouse on the ground still oozing blood from its neck, then looked back at the dark oak forest: ”...My intuition tells me that piece of forest is somewhat dangerous. It’s unsafe to stay here too long.”

Jiang Yu also glanced back at the oak forest.

The figures with glossy, brown contour fur had greatly diminished, but the flapping noises coming from the forest were growing more intense. This was not a good sign.

The Witch withdrew her gaze.

”Furthermore, as the four of us converge to the Doctor, we can gather information for all four people, which the Doctor could use for divination,” Jiang Yu mentioned the last point, which Zheng Qing hadn’t considered: ”In an unknown world, any information is a very important element for divination... If we have the three of them converge on us, we would only be able to gather information from three people.”

Divination is the most crucial way for a hunting team to gain the initiative in an unfamiliar hunting ground. Hearing this, Zheng Qing finally made up his mind.

”You go back now and inform the fatty and the Elders to start moving towards where the Doctor is,” the young public expense student squatted in front of Furry Bean, placed a hand on Gouzi’s head and spoke to it seriously:

”Leave a split body to guide us... concentrate the main effort around the Doctor to ensure his safety before the hunting team gathers. Understood?”

Gouzi stood tall and proud, wagging its tail, meowing affirmatively.

Another ’Furry Bean’ suddenly rose from its body and darted into the void, vanishing in the blink of an eye. The Gouzi that remained became somewhat more ethereal in form, its gaze also duller.

Zheng Qing patted its head comfortingly.

Gouzi habitually wagged its tail, making a comfortable purring sound in its throat.

In the meantime, Jiang Yu had already started cleaning up the various magic vessels, ingredients, and books that the two of them had placed within the Protect Legal Formation.

Zheng Qing helped to clean up the remaining ashes from the magic testing, scooping them into a glass jar with a small copper shovel before stuffing them into a Grey Cloth Bag. For a skilled Diviner, these traces could reveal many details, and any experienced Hunting team would leave as few traces as possible during a hunt.

It was not until Jiang Yu was about to pick up the jade toggles and deactivate the Protect Legal Formation that Zheng Qing stopped her.

”I have a bad feeling,” he blocked the Witch’s actions, looking anxiously towards the depths of the oak woods, where those slick-furred, brown-outlined creatures constantly lurked in the shadows: ”...I think we should be more cautious. I mean, if we leave in front of them, we definitely won’t be able to shake them off our trail.”

”Are you planning to set a trap for them?” The Witch followed Zheng Qing’s gaze towards the oak forest, biting her lip: ”This Array alone won’t hold them off for long. The instincts of Magical Creatures are very sharp.”

”We don’t need much time, just enough to lose them.” Zheng Qing pulled out a stack of Explosion charms and two Illusion Talismans from the Grey Cloth Bag, waving them in front of the Witch, and smilingly said: ”...Let them stare at two shadows dumbfounded. The problem now is, how do we sneak away from here quietly.”

Jiang Yu rummaged through her bag and pulled out a silver-white Cloak.

”Lucky for us, I don’t usually bring it with me.” She unfolded the Cloak and spoke cheerfully, ”This way we can slip away right in front of them.”

Once the Cloak was spread out, its silver-white surface quickly faded away, becoming transparent, and the Witch’s figure was obscured by the Cloak, leaving only her upper body visible.

This was an Invisibility Cloak.

Zheng Qing touched the fabric of the Cloak in amazement, as smooth and light as flowing water. The light fell on the Cloak without encountering any resistance, easily penetrating through and perfectly transmitting the scenery behind it to the front.

”This is amazing... I was originally going to ask if your Law book recorded any similar Invisibility Spells.” He openly praised the reliability of the Invisibility Cloak, while his fingers quickly discarded the two Invisibility Talismans he was about to take out from the Grey Cloth Bag, replacing them with two Cloud Sliding Talismans.

”This Cloak is big enough to fit the two of us,” the Witch spread her arms out, happily gesturing the height and build of the two.

Zheng Qing did not doubt this at all.

...

...

Outside the Array, in the oak woods.

More and more Zu Ge emerged from the depths of the enchanting forest, hiding in the dim shadows of the oaks, sipping tree sap drinks while staring blankly at the Barrier that resembled a giant mushroom.

Inside the Barrier, two unfamiliar Wizards were conducting strange experiments—the Warlock was holding a stack of Talisman papers covered in bright red Runes, burying them all over within the Barrier, while the Witch kept pouring various colored Potions into a glass cup and vigorously stirring with a glass rod.

Milky white Mist slowly bubbled up from the glass cup, settling downward and flowing around, rebounding back upon hitting the edge of the Barrier. The mist gradually accumulated from the Wizards’ ankles, reaching their knees, then their chests, until they were completely submerged.

A frenzied and uneasy flapping sound came from the oak woods.

The Zu Ge realized they could no longer see the figures of the two unfamiliar Wizards—although their reason told them that the two Wizards must still be within the Barrier, their intuition made them feel uneasy.

The eldest Zu Ge patted its own chest with gaunt claws, signaling a few younger and stronger Zu Ge to get closer and see if they could make out what the two Wizards inside the Barrier were doing.
