Chapter 1477: Chapter 221 Shattach

The Cloud Sliding Talisman and the Cloud Climbing Talisman, with similar names, have very closely related effects.

Both talismans were invented by wizards to save energy on their journeys. After using either one, the wizard’s legs from the calf down will turn into a stream of white smoke.

The difference lies in that the Cloud Climbing Talisman emits a ’pop pop’ noise when used. Though not fast, it can push the wizard to drift forward at a steady pace. Last year during Moon Hunting, Zheng Qing had used this talisman. On the other hand, the Cloud Sliding Talisman makes no sound at all and also provides no propulsion; one must rely on wind, pets, or a combination with other Talisman papers to move.

The common advantage of these two talismans is that they allow wizards to leave the ground—as in the case of Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu, after leaving the Protect Legal Formation, they wouldn’t leave footprints, scents, or press down the grass and leaves on the ground.

After setting up nearly a hundred Explosion charms within the Protect Legal Formation, and then conjuring up Mist for cover, both young wizards simultaneously used the Cloud Sliding Talisman and donned the invisibility cloak.

They then used a Binding Spell as reins, attached to the five Furry Beans to pull the wizards, who were floating in mid-air, forward.

To provide cover, Furry Bean created dozens of clones to distract the gaze of the Zu Ges.

When the very old Zu Ge instructed several young and strong Zu Ges to approach the Protect Legal Formation, suddenly a dense ’meow meow’ arose from within the formation. In an instant, dozens of grey figures burst out of the Barrier, meowing madly as they pounced toward every corner of the oak forest, toward those timid peepers.

Zu Ges have no resistance to the sinister cat calls.

They collapsed at the touch and were frightened into peeing and scurrying. The sounds of ’tiny drums’ echoed all around, mixed with those sharp cat calls, plunging the whole forest into Chaos.

By the time the meowing in the oak forest faded and the scattering Zu Ges reconvened under the Elders’ constriction, those terrifying gray beings had already vanished without a trace.

Outside the oak forest, at the edge of the grassland.

The Protective Barrier, flickering with magic light, was still there, with Mist constantly churning within it, but the Zu Ges no longer dared to approach and investigate. They could only stare with their round eyes, hiding behind the bushes in the woods, continuing to spy cautiously.

Who knows how much time had passed.

When the colors in the wind blowing over the fields began to grow dull, and the distant horizon became blurred, painted with a layer of glaze-yellow by the setting sun, the Zu Ges waiting around the perimeter of the Barrier finally awaited the reinforcements from the depths of the enchanting forest.

They were massive shadows.

The shadows flew over the tall oak forest, and their wide bat wings stirred up howling gales, making the crowns of the oak trees rustle wildly and shredding those colorful breezes to pieces.

They looked like birds but were vastly different from the birds recorded in the ”Wizard’s Encyclopedia,” as they possessed bodies larger and fatter than elephants, with heads similar to horses, red eyes like twin furnaces of burning coal, and the antennae at their mouth corners swaying backward in the fierce wind like the tentacles of a hunting octopus.

They are the indigenous beings of Dreamland, the mounts of the servants of the Outer Gods, the new minions garnered by Nikita—

Shattach.

The male Shattach are covered in purple-black Scale Armor, and under the sunlight, their scales flow with tiny rainbow scars as if coated with a layer of oil; the female Shattach have fine soft black fur and are much smaller in size compared to the males. The only similarity is their glass-scraping, unpleasant cries, and the white frost and saltpeter clinging to their wide bat wings.

The leading Shattach is enormous, almost like a small whale.

It stretches out its long legs curled under its belly and opens its huge claws with four toes, reaching out unhesitatingly toward that Magic Barrier filled with white Mist. Its pitch-black claws are enveloped in a filthy aura, as if a mere glance could lead to one’s downfall.

Creak!

Shattach’s leader’s claws scratched at the magic barrier’s glowing film, producing a series of golden sparks, accompanied by an ear-piercing noise, like someone scraping glass with wire. The Zu Ges watching nearby covered their ears, showing pained expressions on their faces.

A few petite female Shattach emitted unpleasant laughter, their mouth-tentacles suddenly falling like hooks, landing among the oak woods and bushes, picking out the fattest Zu Ges, binding them, pulling them up, and stuffing them into their mouths.

Tiny blood droplets fell from the sky, hitting the oak leaves and clearing in the forest. The Zu Ges cowered beneath the phosphorescent light of mushrooms, shivering violently, no longer daring to even beat their chests.

Pop!

The magic barrier lasted only a few seconds before it declared its shattering.

White mist gushed outward at the instant the barrier broke, but the filthy air swirling around the sharp claws bound it tightly, not letting a single bit escape.

The eyes of the Shattach’s leader revealed a mocking hue, seemingly laughing at the wizards’ crude methods of obscuring vision within the barrier.

But in an instant, its gaze shifted from mockery to surprise, then to a mix of astonishment and rage.

The surprise was because a swipe of its claw caught nothing; the astonishment and rage were because, as it attempted to stretch its claw again, it felt as if it were being entangled by some fine threads, and simultaneously sensed the vibrations of magic activation from the scales on its toes.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Over a hundred explosion charms detonated at once and could severely injure an unprepared registered wizard. Even a Big Wizard would be covered in dust and ash without defenses.

The leader of the Shattach had not reached the level of a Big Wizard.

But because it was suspended in mid-air, not at the center of the explosion, it fortuitously escaped the calamity. Even so, its two long legs and huge claws were shattered to pieces in the violent explosion, leaving only two bloody and bare stumps.

Squawk!!!!

The scream of fury, accompanied by the violent gusts from the flapping bat wings, shot straight into the heavens.

...

...

When the explosion charm traps within the Protect Legal Formation were triggered, Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu had already reached the end of the prairie, guided by Gouzi, drifting along the jade-like stream downstream.

Five Furry Beans were panting with their tongues out, their shoulders strapped with green vines, racing along the riverbank, gasping for air.

At the end of the vines, they disappeared into nothingness.

The void rippled gently because the warlock hidden beneath the invisibility cloak had reached into his chest and pulled out a sensing talisman.

This sensing talisman connected to the Protect Legal Formation. Now, the Yellow Talisman Paper with its red runes glowed faintly, and the Talisman felt somewhat hot. This was a sign of effective sensing.

The young cost student looked back, peering through the transparent invisibility garment, wanting to see the most splendid moment of the explosion—it wasn’t difficult. The bright flames and the massive mushroom cloud were clearly visible to him, and even though he couldn’t hear, he could imagine the horrific scene at the site.

”Move a little less, don’t reveal any tracks,” Jiang Yu’s voice sounded in his ear, the warm breeze caressed the warlock’s neck, making him feel the heat around him.
