High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1496: Chapter 240: All Members Assemble

Time reversed by a few minutes.

Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, desperately sprinting through the streets of Wusa City, were anxious as could be.

The Furry Bean leading them was entering and exiting from the void more and more frequently, circling around their legs, seemingly eager to bite their legs and drag them forward. Its meowing became increasingly urgent and piercing.

Panting heavily, Xin Fat Man cursed under his breath that the Demons had picked the worst time to show up. Because of his build, it took him much more effort to run than others and, even using all his strength, he struggled to keep up with Zhang Ji Xin after any considerable distance.

His breathing grew more and more frantic, and his blue chubby face, due to the reddening, took on a purplish hue, oddly resembling Zhang Ji Xin’s complexion.

That was until they passed a meat soup stall.

From a store a street away, a large group of customers poured out, screaming and fleeing in all directions. Words like ’Demon’, ’Wizard’, ’fighting’ faintly carried over the wind.

The Fat Man was urgently trying to accelerate but his steps became heavier and heavier.

After he ran for several dozen more meters and was less than half a street away from that store, violent Magic Fluctuations surged within. Despite the thick walls and hundreds of meters separating them, both wizards could distinctly feel the surge of Magic Power.

”Grab my hand!”

Xin Fat Man bellowed as he grabbed a hold of Zhang Ji Xin’s arm ahead of him: ”I’m going to throw you over!”

The Red-faced Male Wizard didn’t hesitate for a moment; he stopped in his tracks, spun his body around sharply, and his hands were already clamping onto Xin Fat Man’s wrists. With one hand gripping his comrade, and the other stubbornly forcing calm over his mind, the Blue Giant used his left foot as a pivot, his right leg fiercely pushing off, starting to swing Zhang Ji Xin in place.

With each degree of rotation, the Fat Man’s frame expanded slightly, and by the time a full rotation was completed, his head was level with the tallest building nearby, with Zhang Ji Xin having become a ’softball’ in his palm.

”Throw accurately!”

The Red-faced Male Wizard curled up, clutching his head, and roared outward: ”Now!”

The Blue Giant turned, pushed off the ground, twisted his hips, his body’s center of gravity shifting forward, extending his arms as if cracking a whip forward, all movements fluid and practiced, just as they had trained:

”Hit!!”

Accompanied by a thunderous grunt, a red shadow was flung from the immense blue hand, hurtling straight towards that store. Simultaneously, the enormous blue figure deflated like a punctured balloon, hissing as it shrank.

In just a blink of an eye, he transformed from a Giant back to a regular Blue Fatty.

But with this brief instant, Banna took a large step forward, his back foot still half a street behind, his front foot already at the doorstep of the tavern, the whole process only a few seconds slower than the ’flying’ Zhang Ji Xin.

”Crack!”

The huge and rapidly shrinking footprint crushed the steps in front of the tavern, kicking up a cloud of dust.

...

...

Boom!!

After being impeded by the Green Dragon, the ’cannonball’ finally slowed down, and after smashing the tavern’s bar, came to a stop, revealing the figure in a Red Robe.

In the tavern.

Everyone was staring at the scene with their eyes wide and mouths agape.

Jiang Yu’s red lips parted slightly as if she wanted to say something, but after her lips quivered for a moment, she eventually closed them and silently pulled out a second jade pendant from her bag.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and patted the dust off his robe.

Zheng Qing looked at the roof shattered by the Green Dragon and the disappearing speck of light, then at Zhang Ji Xin, who had just climbed up from the bar’s debris, shaking his head. He sighed inwardly and slapped his own face.

The little Female Demon opposite glanced at the ’cannonball’s’ red robe, then at the robes of the few Young Wizards across from her. After a half-second pause, she burst into hysterical laughter, holding her stomach.

She laughed so hard that she got a stitch in her side, gasping for air while holding her ribs and wiping away the tears at the corner of her eyes—this was actually the first injury the Absolution Hunting Team had inflicted on the Demon.

Although it was an indirect injury.

”Nikita!” Zhang Ji Xin, still dizzy from the impact of landing, hadn’t yet recovered, but he immediately spotted the tall Female Demon not far away and said through gritted teeth: ”...Talk about luck!”

”I...huff, huff...didn’t arrive too late...huff, huff...right?” At the entrance, along with tumbling dust, another familiar voice was heard. Zheng Qing looked towards the sound, and Xin Fat Man’s deep blue face appeared through the dust in the tavern.

The full squad of the Absolution Hunting Team finally assembled.

It was a while before Nikita’s voice echoed in the tavern again.

”The tricks of Destiny.” A trace of annoyance appeared on her face as her gaze slid across the faces of the Young Wizards: ”Destiny always likes to play with the lives under Its command... which is why I am here, and you all stand before me.”

Zheng Qing noticed there seemed to be a deeper meaning in her words.

”What are you doing in Dreamland?” The young Warlock on a scholarship stared intently at Nikita, signaling to the two newly arrived companions while gesturing for Jiang Yu to stay calm: ”And you, Zhu... No, you should now be called the Faceless Demon. What’s your reason for coming here?”

Due to the angle of sight, he couldn’t see Jiang Yu’s expression, but the fluctuating Magical fluctuations from behind told him that the Witch was still very agitated, though still in control.

Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin slowly approached the trio; soon, the five Hunters arranged themselves in a Five-pointed star formation. Furry Bean darted in and out of the void, flickering in and out of visibility, reinforcing the formation.

”Conserve your Magic Power a little,” said Nikita, not answering Zheng Qing’s question immediately, instead reproaching: ”When hunting, you must always control the use of your Magic Power, saving every bit of spirit... Has the school’s Hunting Team always been this lousy?”

The nearly overflowing Magical fluctuations within the pentagram formation stalled at once.

Zheng Qing took a deep breath and slowly reined in the wasted Magic Power. Although the Female Demon’s words couldn’t be entirely trusted, Zheng Qing could still discern some truth from them.

Nikita nodded with satisfaction: ”Come to think of it, this is our second formal encounter.”

She pointed her finger at Zheng Qing, Xiao Xiao, and Zhang Ji Xin, as if tapping them in the air: ”...The last time we met, you couldn’t even stand firmly in front of me. This time, you dared to open your Law book at me. Is it the bravado of a calf not fearing the tiger, or is it the ignorance of the fearless?”

The Young Hunters did not respond, but instead silently adjusted their state to raise the Resonance Level of the formation a little higher.

”Since it’s our second meeting, I don’t need to introduce myself again.”

Nikita didn’t pay any attention to the Young Wizards’ subtle movements; she flicked her long hair with a backhand and looked at Zheng Qing with intense crimson eyes, the corners of her mouth slightly lifting: ”...Actually, when I saw you in the store just now, I was also taken aback... Why aren’t you as fragrant as before?”
