High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 845: Chapter 193: Two Shots

”What are you doing?”

Jiang Yu was both shocked and furious, having not anticipated that this Upper House Member of the Moon Council would suddenly attack a student from the First University.

Meanwhile, without a word, Elena scattered her Tarot Cards around her. The seventy-eight cards spun and circled her like snowflakes, with more than ten of them decisively slicing towards the thin red flames binding Zheng Qing.

As for the other few in the shop—Xiao Xiao, Xin Fat Man, and Zhang Ji Xin, who had hurried over after hearing the news, immediately formed the Three Talents Defense Formation, lifted their Law Books, and began preparing spells; and Andrew, who had been shrinking in the corner ever since Duke Milton entered the shop, also signaled his companions with his eyes, and the gemstones on his ten fingers began to glow faintly.

”Interesting!”

Milton’s face held a sneer as he stepped forward. The staff under his arm silently slipped to the ground and lightly tapped the floor.

The heavy thud resonated in the hearts of the young wizards like the resounding blow of a large bell, extinguishing the spell formulas that had not even had a chance to light up on the pages of Xiao Xiao and the others’ Law Books; the Gypsy witch’s Tarot Cards that were slicing towards the red flames instantly turned to ash.

As for Andrew, the rings on his fingers were still glowing faintly. However, judging by his pale face, his situation was not much better than that of the others.

”As soon as I entered the room, I smelled that stinky stench. If it weren’t for that big dog outside, I would have broken your bones one by one long ago,” the Vampire coldly glanced at the corner where the young Werewolf cub was.

”You’re only good at bullying children,” Andrew retorted through gritted teeth, taunting.

”Bang!”

The young Tabbot family Werewolf was slammed against the walls of the shop by an invisible colossal force.

”Enough!”

A bright yellow halo suddenly burst forth from Jiang Yu’s body, swiftly sweeping across the room and leaving an almost transparent barrier between the Vampire and all the young wizards.

This barrier evidently had an excellent isolating effect; even the thin flames binding Zheng Qing dimmed significantly, seemingly about to be extinguished at any moment.

Jiang Yu let out a gentle sigh of relief.

”This is the First University,” she said sternly, looking at the Vampire on the other side of the barrier, ”you can’t do this.”

”Maybe he thinks this is Thorn Ancient Castle... or some other Vampire manor,” Andrew, sitting slumped on the ground clutching his stomach, spat out a mouthful of blood-stained saliva with a ferocious grin on his face. ”You know, these dead folks’ brains are mostly rotted... they often suffer from all kinds of illusions.”

”Shut up!” Jiang Yu didn’t turn her head, just softly warned.

Andrew Taylor shrugged and closed his mouth.

Duke Milton paid no attention to the Taylor family cub’s ranting, or even to Jiang Yu’s warning. Instead, he curiously approached the barrier, crooked his index finger, and lightly scratched the surface of the light screen with his sharp nail.

”Sizzle sizzle...”

It was like the sound of a nail scraping a blackboard or wire brushing against glass, making all the young wizards behind the barrier show expressions of discomfort. In contrast, a satisfied smile appeared on Milton’s face.

”I can tell, your grandmother prepared a fine Amulet for you.” Even through the barrier, the Vampire’s unappealing, slimy voice still penetrated everyone’s ears clearly.

He looked at Jiang Yu; his eyes eventually settled on the Jade Pendant she was clutching in her hand. He nodded and then shook his head with a tsk-tsk sound, ”...If you had used this Jade Pendant to protect only yourself, even the Big Wizard might have had a hard time. But you didn’t do that.”

Speaking, the vampire spread his arms as if embracing the entire room:

”You use an amulet designed for protecting one person to protect an entire little shop... I really can’t tell if this is stupidity or ignorance.”

”This is First University,” Jiang Yu ignored the vampire’s lament and, gritting her teeth, repeated, ”You can still leave now... if you’re not stopped by the school on the spot, you won’t have any trouble.”

”An interesting idea,” said Duke Milton, raising his eyebrows as if he found the witch’s statement intriguing, but soon he shook his head and sighed slightly, ”But that’s not what I want.”

”Besides, even if there is trouble, what can it do?”

As he spoke, the vampire raised his arm, gripping the slender cane and slamming it heavily against the light screen.

A clear spiderweb of cracks appeared on the surface of the semi-transparent light screen; simultaneously, a crisp cracking sound emerged from the jade pendant in Jiang Yu’s hand.

”Three strikes,” the vampire lifted his cane again, casually wagging his finger at the young wizards, ”I need two more... smack!”

With that, the cane came crashing down on the light screen again.

The spiderweb-like cracks deepened, and after a few seconds of enduring, the jade pendant in Jiang Yu’s hand finally gave way, shattering into a handful of sparkling jade sand with a string of delicate cracking noises.

The light screen, which had been struggling to hold up, flickered a few times, then suddenly disappeared.

”Oh, it only needed two strikes after all.” The vampire, who had just raised his arm again, blinked and twirled the slender cane with a whoosh, an embarrassed yet polite smile on his face, ”Maybe I underestimated myself.”

”Monster, die!”

A roar came from beside him.

Zheng Qing, who had just escaped from the binding, reached into the grey cloth bag and pulled out the Remington Charm Gun that Su Shijun had given him. He propped it on his arm, aiming at the figure a few steps away, and without much of an aim, pulled the trigger.

The gun was loaded with a Binding Spell-made Fu Bullet, which Zheng Qing had practiced making a few days earlier.

A faint green light silently emerged from the barrel and struck the vampire hard. But it achieved no results, as the vampire had disappeared without a trace the instant Zheng Qing pulled the trigger.

The pale green Fu Bullet only pierced a residual image left in the original spot and, bringing with it a trail of green flame, hit the wall of the small shop behind, bursting into a dense mass of binding vines with ’puff puff’ noises.

”Tsk tsk tsk, young people these days are really something... almost got hit by your gun,” Duke Milton’s voice, with a hint of surprise, rang out by Zheng Qing’s ear, causing the young warlock to tense up sharply.

He glanced sideways, catching a glimpse in the corner of his eye of the vampire standing right next to him, within a step, looking at the results of the activated Fu Bullet along with him.

A few short startled gasps came from behind.

Zheng Qing twisted his mouth into a strange smile:

”Who told you there’s only one shot?”

Before the words fell, a second gunshot rang out from his embrace.

A green light of the same color as before burst through the young wizard’s robes and struck the vampire hard.
