High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 828: Chapter 176 Si Time

”Little Dragon has grown quite sturdy now.”

”That’s fat, not sturdy... The Pet Garden’s Zhan Yuchen reminded me this morning that Little Dragon’s physical examination a few days ago was not up to standard, with high cholesterol.”

”Snakes can have high cholesterol?”

”I’m not sure about that, but anyway, Zhan suggested that I should exercise it more often and control its diet a bit, to prevent it from binge eating and drinking. It’s not healthy.”

”Indeed,” Jiang Yu nodded in agreement, looking back and adding, ”Meng Meng’s little white pigeon suffered a bellyache from eating too many pine resin seeds last week, and it lay in its cage for a whole day... Pets like them that haven’t fully awakened their spirits are often more influenced by instinct.”

”But if they fully awaken their spirits, they’re no longer pets,” Liu Fei Fei pursed her lips. Discussions involving intelligent lifeforms were sensitive in the Wizard World and could easily provoke some sharp debates.

It was 8:55 AM.

The minor conflict between the cobra and the public security assistant had just ended less than five minutes ago. As it was nearly the opening time stated on the invitation and the assistant hadn’t caused any real harm to the witches, after a brief conversation, a compromise was reached.

The assistant wouldn’t issue Liu Fei Fei a ticket, and Liu Fei Fei also gave up pursuing the assistant’s ”dangerous use of magic.”

Fortunately, today was Saturday.

In the morning at this time, there were very few people on the Pedestrian Street, so the negotiation between the two parties didn’t draw the attention of passersby. And after resolving the trouble, the three witches hurried toward No. 97 on the Pedestrian Street.

They inevitably chatted as they walked.

Hearing Liu Fei Fei’s conversation veering towards a sensitive subject, the monitor of Astronomy Class 08-1 fell silent for a few seconds before picking a new topic:

”Speaking of Nicholas, isn’t he coming today? I remember he gets along quite well with Zheng Qing and the others.”

Upon mentioning Nicholas, Liu Fei Fei immediately forgot the previous subject, her face brightening with color: ”He went ahead a few minutes earlier... It seems like Zheng Qing and their side are short on hands and quite busy.”

”They should be paying him a salary!” Li Meng, who had somehow come alongside the two witches and overheard their conversation, cried out upon hearing this: ”Zheng Qing and those guys always pretend to be poor and lie, you mustn’t let them deceive you!”

Liu Fei Fei couldn’t help but laugh: ”Even if someone gets deceived, it’s Nicholas’s business, not mine...”

”Do you even make distinctions between each other?” Li Meng couldn’t help but widen her eyes, looking curious: ”What’s this I hear about a husband and wife being one body, splitting into two blossoming branches or something... Ow!”

The little witch hadn’t finished speaking when she received a knock on the forehead from her older cousin, causing her to cry out in pain.

Meanwhile, Liu Fei Fei’s face had turned red from embarrassment, and she scurried off to the side under the pretense of looking after her large snake.

Jiang Yu stared at the little witch, sighed after a moment, and established a rule with a compromise: ”If you can keep quiet and stop talking nonsense today, I will allow you to write 500 words less in your weekend journal.”

Ever since the first day of school, under Old Yao’s orders, the freshmen had to complete a weekly journal, recording the minor details of their school life. Li Meng had always deeply detested this task, finding it more painful than a beating.

So, upon hearing Jiang Yu’s suggestion, she immediately straightened her back, raised her hand, and zipped her lips with a determined expression on her face.

As they talked, the three turned the street corner and could already see the massive and brand-new D&K sign in the distance.

Compared to the somewhat desolate and quiet street behind them, the short stretch of road in front of D&K looked exceptionally lively.

The Gold and Silver Wood and Yuanbao Maple, exuding an aura of opulence, were planted in large pots and neatly lined along the wall corners. Their tender green leaves and flamboyant flowers trembled in the winter sunlight, prompting every passerby to take a second glance.

In front of these verdant plants, exquisite flower baskets were placed, adorned with festive decorations and filled with well-wishing phrases. Blossoms of various colors bloomed and withered repeatedly in the baskets, carpeting the ground with a blanket composed of petals.

The meter-tall Loose Bear waddled through the crowd with its plump body, holding up fruit trays to serve the guests; while above their heads, the verdant Sprites were dragging huge teapots, filling the cups of every guest whose drink had run dry.

Speaker Flowers were hanging under the eaves, broadcasting Zheng Qing’s stumbling speech.

Due to the brisk winds around the corner, Jiang Yu couldn’t quite make out what the Warlock was saying—she only vaguely heard words like ”thank you,” ”thank you very much,” ”will definitely try hard,” ”carry forward” and the like.

She lifted her wrist and glanced at the watch face.

It was only a few seconds to nine o’clock.

”Oh no, hurry, hurry, we’re going to be late!” Li Meng’s urgent shouting came from behind, making Jiang Yu, already somewhat anxious, crack a smile involuntarily.

Indeed, expecting Li Meng to be quiet was utterly impossible—she just couldn’t keep her mouth shut. As long as she could open her mouth, she could never remain silent. She didn’t want to write her weekly journal, and she got by each day by acting cute, rolling on the ground, making a fuss, and sometimes even getting beaten up, barely managing to avoid being sent home.

Jiang Yu really didn’t know what she would do on her final exams.

”Boom!”

A muffled explosion resonated next to the Witch’s ear, interrupting her thoughts.

Looking up, D&K had already started the fireworks display.

The white fireworks exploded mid-air, momentarily outshining even the Sun’s brilliance.

Then, fireworks of four colors burst forth from the white light, igniting in sequence in four directions and creating an array of gorgeous hues—a majestic spectacle of red galloping horses to the east, neighing as they raced into the distance; a flock of white birds filled the western sky, beating their wings; a vast ocean of blue unfolded to the north, where shadows of Big Kun could be seen; and to the south, myriad sparks built golden pagodas.

At the same time, crackling firecrackers hung from the corners, popping like popped beans, creating clouds of smoke and raining down red confetti. The rising smoke twisted and turned in mid-air, forming assorted images; sunlight pierced through, casting multicolored beams, conjuring an otherworldly scene. The descending red particles amassed into little figures, laughing heartily as they scampered around at the guests’ feet.

”Oh my, that was scary!” Li Meng shrieked with excitement, hopping and jumping.

However, she didn’t look the least bit frightened.

”If only I had brought Li Neng today! He would have loved those Loose Bears!” the Little Witch continued to scream, trying hard to make herself heard over the loud fireworks nearby.

A red streak shot towards them from the distance.

Jiang Yu casually slapped it, and the red streak crashed to the ground.

Looking down, she saw a tiny rouge horse heaving, kicking and swishing its tail as it struggled vigorously.

Shortly after, the little horse exploded with a ’bang,’ turning into a blooming big red peony.
