Chapter 843: Chapter 191 Troubles

”Meng Meng!”

Jiang Yu turned around and gave Li Meng a stern look, then his tone grew more worried, ”Did you encounter the five-color flower last night? Why didn’t you tell me about this? Where is the Mystical Grain sachet your family prepared for you? Didn’t you bring it with you? Have you forgotten what happened last time at the Hundred Herb Gardens? What if your magic power goes out of control!”

His concerned reprimand was delivered rapidly and urgently, causing the Little Witch to immediately bow her head in shame.

The incident Jiang Yu mentioned took place a few months ago during an alchemy class of Astronomy Class 08-1, when Professor Li led the students on their first visit to the Hundred Herb Gardens for a field study, and Li Meng fainted on the spot after accidentally touching a Seven-Color Flower in full bloom.

Fortunately, since everyone was in the Hundred Herb Gardens and they had the experienced Professor nearby, no terrible consequences ensued. Professor Li quickly found a few leaves of Mystical Grain to relieve the Little Witch from the adverse effects caused by the pollen allergy.

Since then, the Little Witch’s sachet had been filled with a powder made from the leaves of Mystical Grain.

”The sachet was left in the dorm yesterday.”

Seeing Jiang Yu’s angry demeanor, Li Meng immediately abandoned any thoughts of squabbling with Xin Fat Man and turned sheepish on the spot, hanging her head low, stroking the cat in her arms, and muttered, ”It’s all Li Neng’s fault, that fluffy bear just wanted to run around yesterday afternoon... In my search for it, I got a bit hot... Later on, when I was about to go out in the evening and changed my clothes, I accidentally left the sachet filled with Mystical Grain leaves in the dorm.”

Since the fluffy bear wasn’t present, the Little Witch bluntly blamed everything on it.

To be fair, even if the fluffy bear were present, it wouldn’t be the first time it had taken the blame for the Little Witch—the times when she played too wildly outside as a child and dirtied her clothes, it was always the bear’s fault. That’s why she still brought the stuffed toy with her to First University—the only difference was that when the bear was not around, the Little Witch felt more righteous and emboldened in absolving herself of responsibility.

”But I brought it today!”

As if remembering something, Li Meng fumbled in her embrace, then lifted her head, raised her arm, and cautiously displayed her achievement, ”The spices I just added yesterday when I went back, there definitely won’t be any mishap next time!”

”You’re thinking there’ll be a next time?!” Jiang Yu folded his arms and gave the Little Witch a sidelong glance.

Li Meng’s face instantly fell.

”The situation wasn’t that bad yesterday.” Xiao Xiao, who had just finished checking the stock in the back, came to the counter with the materials and happened to overhear their conversation. He casually spoke up for the Little Witch, ”The pollen from the Seven-Color Flower at Greenhill Mansion had been mostly depleted before being transplanted, leaving only an empty shell of a flower... Otherwise, Li Meng wouldn’t have just sneezed twice and shaken her head after getting close to it with Su Ya.”

Doctor Xiao’s explanation might have been helpful to Li Meng if not for that last sentence, which just made things worse.

”You even went close to look?” Jiang Yu looked at Li Meng as if he had just heard a joke, his eyebrows raising high in disbelief, ”Don’t you know that you’re allergic to the pollen of the Seven-Color Flower? Do you find living safely unsatisfactory?!”

Li Meng glared at Xiao Xiao and then, regretful once again, hung her head down and mumbled, ”Su Ya said her family had a new Seven-color pansy... I heard it wasn’t the same name as the Seven-Color Flower, so I went to have a look... But as soon as I saw that flower, I covered my mouth right away, I definitely didn’t go over deliberately to look!”

Her explanation only seemed more foolish.

While they were talking, Zheng Qing had already finished showing Elena around the shop and reached the counter.

Noticing the slightly tense atmosphere and seeing the Little Witch’s sachet still raised in mid-air, the young cost student took it, weighed it in his hand, and said cheerfully, ”What’s the big deal... Achoo! Achoo!”

Before he could finish speaking, he sneezed several times in quick succession.

Raising his head, the warlock had a puzzled look on his face. He shook his head vigorously, feeling his consciousness becoming a bit chaotic.

”Are you allergic to Mystical Grain?” Jiang Yu was the first to react.

”I don’t know... Ah-choo!” Zheng Qing shook the sachet in his hand and sneezed again.

”Mystical Grain?” Elena’s pupils shrank slightly, and her smile seemed somewhat forced. She deftly took the sachet from the warlock’s hand, sniffed it, and said with a wry smile, ”It is indeed the scent of Mystical Grain powder... what an unfortunate coincidence.”

The volume of her last sentence was low, and aside from her, nobody else seemed to notice.

Because everyone’s attention was drawn to a new guest who had just arrived.

”Creak...!”

The slightly ajar wooden door of the shop was gently pushed open, a cold breeze carrying the noise of the Pedestrian Street burst in. Everyone instinctively looked towards the door.

A warlock wearing a black tailcoat, a top hat, and holding a slender cane walked in.

Noticing everyone’s gaze, the warlock took off his hat and very politely bowed, saying cheerfully, ”The weather outside is really nice... Although it’s a bit cold, it indeed makes for a good day to open shop.”

He had beautiful curly blond hair and a tall, slender build. Perhaps because the sunlight today was a bit pale, Zheng Qing felt that the warlock’s skin was excessively white.

And for some reason, he felt this warlock looked familiar—yet, the young cost student swore he definitely did not know this new guest.

Compared to his oblivious composure, the others in the shop had much more interesting reactions.

Xin Fat Man, who had just picked up a cup to drink juice, choked, coughing heavily a few times. However, compared to usual, his coughs today seemed extremely restrained; he even covered his mouth with his hand, looking rather comical.

Standing beside him, Doctor Xiao was not faring much better. His eyes were wide, frozen in place, and not even his documents sliding and falling to the floor seemed to snap him out of his stupor.

Elena, as always, was indifferent to the stranger. She just glanced at the newfound guest and then shifted her gaze away, scrutinizing the small sachet in her hands again.

In the entire shop, only Jiang Yu showed the normal demeanor that a shopkeeper would have in the presence of a customer.

”Welcome, welcome... How did you come to be here?” Although he appeared composed, it was clear that Jiang Yu also expressed sufficient surprise at the stranger’s arrival.

”What’s so strange about that, Greenhill Mansion is just in town,” said Miss Li Meng, holding a cat and pouting, mumbling under her breath yet displaying a sense of relief as if having survived a disaster.

Thank goodness, with this guy here, my cousin surely won’t have time to bother me—The Little Witch thought to herself.
