High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 831: Chapter 179 Endless Streams

As time passed, more and more figures appeared at Pedestrian Street No. 97.

Among them, the most frequent visitors were the young wizards from the four classes of the freshman year at Jiuyou Academy. As the influential figure of the first year, the young state-funded student and Merlin Medal awardee, Zheng Qing, had some influence among these young wizards.

Therefore, upon hearing that he had opened a new shop on Pedestrian Street, many students from the academy came to take a look, driven by curiosity.

Of course, most of them also entertained the thought that, even if they didn’t buy anything, it would be very good to rub shoulders with the ”top student” for luck.

Additionally, student self-governing organizations such as the Jiuyou Academy Student Union, the First University Club Union, and the First University Student Union also sent staff to deliver baskets of flowers.

The Jiuyou Academy Student Union sent a flower basket because of Zheng Qing’s status as a state-funded student; while the First University Student Union did so because of the Merlin Medal—of course, these specific reasons were not announced openly with a note attached to the flower basket but were privately shared by the staff who delivered the baskets with the young wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team.

As for the flower basket from the Club Union, that was even simpler.

Whether it was the Absolution Hunting Team or the Absolution Knight Group, both were officially registered members within the Club Union. Therefore, when Zheng Qing and the others opened this little shop in the name of the hunting team, the Club Union would naturally extend its blessings.

Beyond that, those who sincerely came to offer their congratulations were the friends and relatives of the various hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team.

Among them, Lanque Duxing, Dylan the loner, and Monk Shi Yuan, detached from worldly affairs, thus they didn’t bring any guests.

Xiao Xiao wasn’t much different from them, apart from Mister Sima, he hadn’t issued more invitations within the school.

Only Lin Guo, who had grown up in Pedestrian Street since childhood and was well-acquainted with many locals, sent out the greatest number of invitations.

The Little Warlock just took Big Black, the sheep, for a stroll along Pedestrian Street and attracted many gifts—however, most of the neighbors had their own businesses to run and simply offered their congratulations in front of the shop before hurrying off. Very few stayed patient enough to seriously browse inside the shop.

Even though Lin Guo had many invitations, their quality was just so-so.

Aside from Zheng Qing, the ones with the highest quality invitations were Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin.

As an enrolled journalist for the First University’s campus newspaper, Fat Man had established very extensive connections within the media circles around First University just half a year after his admission—for instance, for the grand opening of the new shop, he had invited many friends from the media, planning to thoroughly advertise his shop in the public opinion.

There was also Zhang Ji Xin, who had a very reliable brother.

Zhang Ji Xin’s brother, Uncle Zhang Zhi, was a veteran of the Third Grade at Jiuyou Academy, an Auxiliary Hunter for the First University’s hunting team and also a senior executive of Sacred Will. Alongside Erwin Hoffman and Zhao Qiao, he was known as one of the ”Three Heroes of Will” and was one of the powerful contenders to be the next Lei Zhe.

Because of his advantageous position, when Uncle Zhang Zhi arrived, he used the name of the First University’s hunting team to send a basket of flowers—Zhang Ji Xin actually hoped his brother would use the name of Sacred Will to send the basket, but perhaps to avoid any negative repercussions, Uncle Zhang Zhi ultimately did not use the organization’s name and instead borrowed the hunting team’s name.

Of course, whether it was Sacred Will or the hunting team, both were behemoths the ’D&K’ looked up to, and the flower basket they sent was placed by Zheng Qing in the most conspicuous and eye-catching spot outside the shop.

Coming along with Uncle Zhang Zhi, besides a few of his friends, were two of Zheng Qing’s old acquaintances—Deng Xiaojian and Qi Qinglan.

As official members of the Judgement Hunting Team, they had given the Absolution Hunting Team a lot, and very important, support during the freshmen competition.

”These two are representatives from the Judgement Hunting Team. Hoffman has an off-campus task today, so he sent them to extend his greetings.” Uncle Zhang Zhi grabbed Zheng Qing’s hand and shook it vigorously, tilting his head back slightly as he explained in a deep voice, ”We met them on the way here, and since we’re all acquaintances, we decided to come together.”

Similar to Zhang Ji Xin, Uncle Zhang Zhi had a date-red complexion and a burly figure, with short hair.

However, unlike Zhang Ji Xin’s easily irritable temperament, Uncle Zhang Zhi’s demeanor, just like his voice, seemed especially stable. Zheng Qing thought perhaps this was why he had managed to become one of ’The Three Heroes of Will.’

”Our captain sent us to express his apologies.” After hearing Uncle Zhang Zhi’s explanation, Deng Xiaojian behind him secretly rolled his eyes and helplessly added.

”No problem, no problem, everyone is a guest, welcome!” Zheng Qing nodded repeatedly, hastily expressing his gratitude. He certainly wasn’t naive enough to believe that Hoffman had really sent Deng Xiaojian to apologize.

In fact, he was very skeptical as to whether the notable hunter who had made a splash at the school hunting competition was even aware of the little shop the Absolution Hunting Team had opened up on Pedestrian Street.

But as the saying goes, it takes all sorts to make a world, and mutual flattery in business is an essential skill in social exchanges.

”Please come in, please come in...” Zheng Qing warmly invited them inside while leading several veterans into the shop, simultaneously apologizing, ”I’m so sorry, the shop is small. It’s quite cramped...”

Meanwhile, Jiang Yu had already squeezed through the crowd with a rosewood tray in her hands, approaching the wizards.

On the tray were several thin red envelopes.

Zheng Qing pressed his hands together and silently conveyed his thanks to Jiang Yu—without a doubt, the shop was short-staffed, which was why Jiang Da Headmaster had personally stepped in to help.

Jiang Yu smiled faintly, paying no mind to the cost student’s antics.

”Haven’t you thought about holding a small reception at the Wandering Bar opposite here?” Deng Xiaojian, after receiving the thin red envelope, finally couldn’t help but ask.

He pointed with his finger at the huge sign diagonally behind them, reminding, ”Your little shop here is less than a hundred meters from the Wandering Bar; you could have had a win-win event...”

Zheng Qing glanced at the gloomy sign not far away, quickly looked away, and laughed sheepishly, explaining in a low voice, ”We did have that idea, but it turned out to be unfeasible... After all, it’s just a small business, with a limited budget.”

Seeming to feel that this sounded a bit too defeatist, the young cost student paused, then recuperated with a remark, ”... And besides, we didn’t expect so many people to come back! It looks like everyone is quite interested in our new products.”

With that, he raised his hand, his fingers lightly tracing the air in front of him.

A few steps away, several first-graders witches were leaving the shop excitedly, carrying little cages. Inside the cages were several plump mice fast asleep.

Simply in the few minutes of their conversation, more than a dozen wizards had already passed by carrying cages. Zheng Qing could easily imagine the frantic restocking efforts of Lin Guo, Blue Bird, and others deep inside the shop.

Uncle Zhang Zhi nodded slightly.

”You go ahead and keep busy; we’ll just look around by ourselves,” he said, lifting his hand to stop Zheng Qing’s polite offer, and reminded him, ”Over there seem to be a few journalists from the Campus Newspaper... I think as the shop owner, you should prioritize attending to them.”
