High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 842: Chapter 190 Selling Medicine

Milton stopped less than a hundred meters away from the shop.

Because he saw a familiar figure.

William Tabot of the Tabbot family was squatting on a stone lion opposite the shop’s alleyway, dangling his long legs, and his gaze was elusive.

As a regular in the Western Fantasy World, werewolves and vampires were not a rare sight. However, compared to reality, those tales often had errors—for example, vampires did not turn to ash after being staked in the heart, and besides having bad breath, eating garlic actually did them no harm. Furthermore, although Wolf’s Bane had many uses for werewolves, transforming into a wolf did not necessarily mandate picking a night with a full moon when the Wolf’s Bane bloomed.

Essentially, among a myriad of legends, only one thing was reliable: werewolves and vampires were sworn enemies.

Although the reason for their initial enmity slowly faded into the many shadows of history with the passage of time, there was no doubt that the deep-seated disgust and hostility that stemmed from their very bloodlines remained as fresh as ever, never failing to dissipate.

Even now, when both were colleagues in the Moon Council, restrained by the covenant, during meetings or official business, the Werewolf Clan and Vampire Clan still often confronted each other tit-for-tat, hurling attacks. As for the underhand blows and sabotage in the dark, that goes without saying.

In the pursuit of Lady Su, the beautiful Su Daxu, the behavior between William from the Tabbot family and Milton from the Karen family was particularly evident—with minor clashes every three days and major ones every month. Armed with reasonable excuses, the two young nobles of the Moon Council had caused quite a few disturbances over the years.

The most recent was the notorious duel at Mount Alps a few months ago.

The two gentlemen, avoiding family and partners and without bringing magic books, talismans, or other magic items, relied solely on their own abilities to enter the deepest parts of the magical wasteland in the Alps. With fists, sharp teeth, and their blood, they fiercely exchanged their opinions.

If it hadn’t been for the Beta Town Post’s article about Su Shi’s premarital pregnancy leading to a severe drop in their fighting will, it’s likely that the two gentlemen would still be fighting and struggling on some desolate mountainside.

”No wonder I felt a dirty miasma in the air as I came down the street, a foul smell... seeing a certain furry big dog, I finally understood,” Duke Milton stood in place, pulling out a piece of white linen from his pocket and covering his nose, he spoke in a muffled voice.

Although he was looking at the entrance of the small shop at No. 97 on Pedestrian Street while he spoke, his eyes were fixed on every move of the man on the stone lion.

William Tabot glanced at the vampire standing on the street and curled his lips.

”I thought vampires had a slightly better sense of smell when they were young... Dead men are still dead men after all, even if they can move, they’re just walking corpses,” he said, blowing his nose with gusto, and he hummed softly, ”even a three-year-old kid passing by could smell the Fishman’s scent in the air.”

”You’re rather talkative today,” Milton lowered his handkerchief, turned his head, and looked at the werewolf with interest.

William Tabot looked sullen and did not respond.

It was now past ten o’clock in the morning, and being the weekend, the flow of people on Pedestrian Street had significantly increased compared to weekdays. Although the passersby were not shoulder to shoulder, there were many more of them.

However, the majority of passersby, when walking past Milton or William, would subconsciously ignore the presence of the two wizards. Even when they approached, they would naturally walk around them.

It was as if an invisible rock suddenly rose in the center of a surging river. The waters could not see or touch it, but they naturally flowed past the rock on either side.

This was a complex composite magic that only a Big Wizard, or an even higher-level wizard, would master—it encompassed multiple magics such as misleading the light, transferring consciousness, and hiding one’s shape. To cast it required extremely advanced magic skills.

Although neither Milton nor William had reached the level of a Big Wizard yet, they both had a very reliable family. The many accessories prepared for them by the family had the relevant spell formulas attached.

Just like that, the two men stared at the bustling street, falling silent for a long while.

It was not until Milton showed a hint of impatience, seemingly ready to enter the shop directly, that the werewolf finally spoke up in a low voice, ”If I were you, I would wait until that little girl in the shop leaves before going in.”

Milton paused for a moment, a sneer appearing at the corner of his mouth: ”That little spiritual wizard from the Li family? Do you think everyone is as dumb as you muscleheads, likely to injure bystanders in a fight more than hitting the actual opponent?”

”Besides, who said I necessarily have to throw a punch?”

”Fighting is a preference for your kind of beast. For the true nobility of Under the Moon, there are more than one ways to negotiate.”

With that, the little duke of the Karen family neatly refolded the white handkerchief, tucked it into the breast pocket, then lifted two fingers, giving a wave to the man on the stone lion, and started walking unhurriedly towards the small shop.

Atop the stone lion, William Tabbot watched Milton’s figure and spitefully spat, cursing under his breath, ”Coward!”

...

...

While Milton Karen and William Tabbot were at an impasse on the street.

Inside the small shop.

Xin Fat Man was promoting his new products to Jiang Yu.

On one hand, he was taking advantage of the lull in customers to practice his sales skills; on the other hand, most people start doing business by overcharging friends.

Admittedly, this might not sound very nice. But in Xin Fat Man’s eyes, D&K’s products were outstanding, and his friends would neither be cheated nor disappointed after buying them, so he felt no burden doing so.

”I absolutely won’t rip you off!”

”This thing is really perfect for Li Meng,” Xin said, as he took a small box down from the shelf behind him and pushed it in front of the witch, opened the lid, and energetically pitched, ”This is a magic potion that I spent a week concocting, primarily to prevent symptoms like unconsciousness and dizziness, and also to help wizards break free from various potent hallucinogens, organizing magic power... The main ingredient is Wolf’s Bane, and Professor Li has also helped to verify it, saying that my potion is well-balanced and completely problem-free!”

”The Qingqiu Club has a Seven-Color Flower. Yesterday, when Li Meng went there, she almost had a pollen allergy again. Luckily, I was carrying a few pills made with Wolf’s Bane... They were originally meant to stock up in the afternoon, but due to tight scheduling, they could only be prepared this morning.”

”You dead fatso?!!” Li Meng’s infuriated voice erupted from the side, ”Didn’t we agree to keep it a secret yesterday? Where is your conscience? I’m definitely not taking you to the Qingqiu Club again!”
