High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 838: Chapter 186: Two Andrews

”Rapid Response Team?”

”A Fishman? Such a matter would also alarm the Trident Sword?”

In the shop, the young male and female wizards looked at each other, greatly surprised by the Fat Wizard’s words.

As a powerful organization under the Mage Alliance, the primary responsibilities of Trident Sword were mostly related to demon activities. For instance, if a demon was wreaking havoc on civilians in a certain area, or if a wizard in a tower was suspected of conducting corrupt experiments, or if an ancient demon seal was found to be loosening and needed checking and reinforcement, and so on.

In short, as most wizards saw it, any job handled by the Trident Sword was high-risk and complex. Hence, it was quite unusual for an officer of the Trident Sword to come just because a single Fishman was wandering on Pedestrian Street.

Detecting the confusion in the young wizards’ brows, the baby-faced wizard named Andrew quickly realized and added a clarification, ”Um, don’t get me wrong... I am not here implying that the Fishman is associated with demons.”

This explanation, far from reassuring the young wizards, only increased their doubts.

”We also have nothing to do with demons!” Li Meng was still crouching on the ground, petting a cat, but that didn’t prevent her from lifting her head and puffing up indignantly to state her position.

Compared to the Little Witch, Jiang Yu’s attitude was much milder.

”Is there a demon lurking nearby? Should we notify the school?” She pressed a hand on Li Meng’s head, stopping the Little Witch’s impolite behavior, while with the other hand she pinched a Paper Crane, appropriately expressing her puzzlement.

Compared to the two witches, Xiao Xiao was much more adaptable.

He fished out a red envelope from a drawer, approached with a beaming smile, and said, ”Hard work, hard work, Commissioner, hard work indeed... Today the store is opening, every visitor is a guest, sorry to trouble you, really, it’s a bother.”

While speaking, he stuffed the red envelope into the Trishula Commissioner’s hand without further ado.

The short, plump baby-faced wizard grasped the red envelope, caught between crying and laughing, and after a long pause, patiently explained again, ”I really just came to check on that Fishman... Most of the members of the Beta Town Security Bureau have been temporarily reassigned to Silent Forest, leaving only a few security officers on the street, all of whom are temporary workers with insufficient experience.”

”For some reasons, I am temporarily stationed here these days, so the bureau coordinated a bit, allowing me to take on maintaining security in Beta Town part-time. That is to say, nominally I belong to the Trident Sword, but in reality, I’m doing the work of the Security Bureau.”

”So, you may have misunderstood something...” he said, waving the red envelope in his hand with a mischievous smile on his face.

Xiao Xiao showed no sign of embarrassment—even though he had indeed misunderstood the commissioner’s intentions just before—but since it was now all cleared up, the atmosphere in the room immediately became much more harmonious.

Just then, Zheng Qing, who had been backstage calming the Fishman client, also hurried over upon hearing the news.

”What’s the matter?” He glanced at the black-robed Trident Sword Commissioner, looking at Xiao Xiao with some puzzlement in his tone. A few minutes earlier, Xiao Xiao had communicated that someone from a powerful department had come to take advantage of the opening. However, returning to the front, Zheng Qing found the scene harmonious, with no sign of any tension.

”It’s just a small misunderstanding, no big deal,” Jiang Yu turned back and said to the warlock with a smile, ”This Trihula Commissioner heard about the Fishman and came to check on its documentation. It brought its permits and such, right?”

Meanwhile, Xiao Xiao also explained to the Trishula Commissioner, ”This Zheng Qing is the manager of our store. If you have any questions, you can ask him.”

”Yes, yes,” Zheng Qing nodded at Jiang Yu and quickly handed a stack of documents to the short, fat wizard in black robes, ”Sorry, Iseni is a bit dehydrated and is hydrating in the back. These are the landing permits, range of movement, and personal information issued by First University. You can take a look at them first.”

From the moment Zheng Qing appeared, the short, fat wizard couldn’t take his eyes off him.

It wasn’t until he took the stack of documents from the warlock’s hands that he said with a grin, ”Is this store really yours? Last time I saw you, you were still a rookie who would blush the second you opened your mouth. Indeed, living independently is the best way to toughen up.”

Zheng Qing looked at the short, fat wizard in astonishment.

Indeed, this black-robed Trishula Commissioner did look familiar, but with many recent worries, he couldn’t recall his name at the moment.

Not until the commissioner with the baby face mentioned Thomas did Zheng Qing realize—he had met this Trishula Commissioner before when he went shopping for study materials with Thomas at Four Seasons Pavilion before the school started. They had been there to deal with a follow-up to an incident involving a Pig Demon.

Thanks to Thomas, Zheng Qing had even chatted with this commissioner for a while.

However, with more than half a year having passed, if it wasn’t deliberately mentioned, Zheng Qing truly wouldn’t have remembered this twice-met wizard.

”...Did Thomas come today? I remember he’s off these days and was hoping to catch up with him, but I haven’t found the time,” the Trishula Commissioner flipped through the stack of documents, casually filled out a form, and then handed it to Zheng Qing, ”Here, check if the information is correct and sign here. It’s required by the procedures.”

”Teaching Assistant Thomas came earlier with Assistant Hilda, but they left before Iseni arrived. Iseni is the name of that Fishman,” replied Zheng Qing cheerfully, taking the form and, after verifying it, signed on it with a circle.

”Hmm, I can see you have a wide network,” Commissioner Andrew’s gaze slid over the group of cats on the floor, and then he said with a smile, ”I heard that someone from your place even took a large snake for a walk on the street recently? Let’s not make that a habit... That deputy was inexperienced and got fooled by you. You know, no matter the breed, if a snake reaches a certain size, it’s considered a high-risk creature. Not to mention it was a venomous snake.”

”Little Dragon has already gone back to school,” Li Meng stood aside, muttering softly. She was holding a cat in her arms, which was comfortably purring.

”Ew, what’s that smell?!”

”...Ugh, it stinks! Zheng Qing?! Zheng Qing?! Did the sewer outside your store explode?”

A familiar but brash voice carried from a distance into the store, suddenly darkening Zheng Qing’s expression.

Before long, another short, fat figure appeared at the shop’s entrance with several companions. He was dressed in a silver-white robe, his ten fingers adorned with gleaming gemstone rings, exuding an aura of extravagance.
