High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 818: Chapter 166 Mao Time

Unlike the absent-minded and despondent Jiang Yu, a certain scholarship student from Jiuyou Academy seemed much more energetic.

Early on Saturday morning, as dawn was just breaking, Zheng Qing fumbled to get up, dressed in a brand-new robe with the help of sprites, fastened a shiny new belt, and attached sparkling cufflinks before starting to groom himself in front of the dressing mirror.

”Aren’t you planning to do morning class today?” Xiao Xiao, awakened by the rustling noises in the room, asked groggily.

”Oh, right... there’s morning class.” Zheng Qing only then remembered what he had forgotten and, quite dismayed, took off his new clothes and changed back into his old robe before sitting on the bed, lost in thought.

The sprites, resting their chins in their hands and drooping their wings, sat on his shoulder and joined him in his reverie.

However, the warlock’s daydreaming didn’t last long.

Because Zheng Qing had awakened him, Xiao Xiao could no longer continue to sleep peacefully; he complained as he slowly got up and began to wash up.

”Can’t you two be quiet for just a little while?!” Xin Fat Man muttered with his eyes closed. The Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan on his blanket agreed, swinging its tail in approval.

Correspondingly, two heavy knocks sounded from Dylan’s coffin as well.

”Today is a big day... the business starts at nine o’clock, how can you still sleep?” Zheng Qing, seeing the lifeless atmosphere in the dormitory, couldn’t help but remind everyone.

”The sky is big, the earth is big, but sleep is the biggest... Huh... huh...” Fat Man murmured unclearly as he snored.

Facing the lethargic Fat Man, Zheng Qing was at a loss for words.

So he turned his attention to Dylan.

”Dong Dong.”

The young scholarship student knocked on the coffin lid and raised his voice slightly, asking, ”Could you hear us talking just now? The sound insulation of this board isn’t good... Do you want me to add a layer of cowhide inside later?”

The dormitory suddenly became quiet.

”I, not enough sleep, angry, want to drink blood,” a faint voice came from the coffin.

According to Dylan’s schedule, normally, he would get up between four and seven in the afternoon, and from four to eight in the morning was time to tidy up the coffin and prepare to sleep—on weekdays, from Monday to Friday, he would wait until everyone in the dorm had gone to class before he began to sleep. On weekends, he might go to sleep a bit earlier, around four in the morning.

Last night, in order to visit Greenhill Mansion and soak up the aura of the first beauty of the wizard world, Mister Blood Werewolf had pushed through and skipped half a class. This resulted in him being severely dealt with by the teaching assistant responsible for the night classes.

In the morning, he dragged his weary body back to the dormitory, and less than an hour after the coffin lid closed, he was awakened by the noise in the dormitory.

No wonder his mood was so terrible.

”That’s because you went to help Su Shijun pick pumpkins last night,” Zheng Qing retorted, his tone devoid of any sympathy: ”Nobody forced you to go, did they?”

”That’s not what you said at the time!” Mister Blood Werewolf’s voice buzzed incredulously from inside the coffin.

How could anyone be so utterly shameless?

Zheng Qing pretended not to hear Dylan’s question—or rather, he heard it but simply didn’t care.

”Since you’re awake, hurry up and get out of bed!”

”Lying with your eyes open in a coffin is not a good sign!”

”Today is the grand opening of our shop! Everyone, let’s step it up and drive our opening performance through the roof—I’ll buy you any flavor of blood you want to drink!”

Zheng Qing banged on the coffin and loudly promised, ”I also have a gold card from Wandering Bar... even if you want some forbidden blood, I can get it for you! Like Red Qiuqi Blood?”

”It’s only five o’clock!!!” Dylan finally couldn’t contain his frustration, flung open the coffin lid, and sat up with a bang, his eyelids droopy, glaring fiercely at the young cost student, ”I closed my eyes less than an hour ago!”

Although his tone was filled with irritation, the movement of his throat visibly reduced the threat level of his anger to the minimum.

”Okay, okay, just hang in there a little longer.” The young cost student comforted him, casually adding, ”When I passed by Wandering Bar yesterday, the Wandering Wizard told me they’d gotten a few bottles of Red Qiuqi Blood... blood of a hundred-year-old Red Qiuqi, really packs a punch, I figured you’d like it, so I put down a deposit for you.”

”A hundred-year-old Red Qiuqi? A hundred-year-old Red Qiuqi isn’t even mature yet!” Dylan complained weakly but obediently crawled out of the coffin.

”Anyway, you’re already dead, a little less sleep won’t kill you.” The young cost student cracked a rather punchable cold joke, while lifting his arms high above his head, holding the Sprites aloft.

The Sprites were giggling and frolicking in his palms.

The Blood Werewolf glanced sideways at Zheng Qing with droopy eyelids, ”Why do I get the feeling that you grew a lot bolder after coming back last night... What did you do, drink Dragon Mother’s Courage Tonic?”

Zheng Qing’s raised hand suddenly stiffened in mid-air—indeed, he too felt a bit excessively excited today. However, he attributed it to the excitement of the new shop opening.

After all, in his memory, after turning into a cat last night, he had just stayed up in that big locust tree, all peaceful and quiet. He hadn’t caused any trouble. At most, he petted a white cat, but what effect would that have?

”Misconception.” The cost student chuckled awkwardly, ”I’ve always been like this... it must be your misconception.”

Dylan squinted at him, saying nothing.

An eerie silence fell over the dormitory.

Xin Fat Man’s snoring had also stopped at some point.

”If you’ve woken up, then get up and get to work.” Xiao Xiao, just out of the washroom, casually splashed Fat Man’s face with water, ”He’s stopped snoring, he’s definitely awake.”

”Not awake, not awake,” Xin Fat Man mumbled, adamantly refusing to open his eyes, ”Dylan gets Red Qiuqi Blood for getting up early, don’t I get some kind of reward for getting up early too?”

The response came from the merciless voice of the Hunting Team Leader of Absolution, ”There isn’t.”

”Then I might as well keep my eyes closed.” Fat Man opened his mouth to continue snoring but didn’t anticipate the Fatty Cat on his blanket pressing a paw down on his chin, blocking the snore that was about to escape.

”It’s five o’clock, Mao hour, the time of dawn.”

”This is when the sun begins to show, slowly rising.”

”Today, with the new store opening, this time is just perfect for us... so you have to get up!”

Xiao Xiao explained while changing into a training suit, ”I’m going to do morning practices with Brother Qing, you two head to the store first and start setting up the tables... In the back warehouse, there are over a dozen cages of mice, make sure to brush them up a bit shinier, and feed them one more time.”
