Chapter 1346: Chapter 1347: Mocking, Don’t Let the Female Soldiers Lose Too Badly

...Seems like it.

Oh heavens, just kill her!

It must be her illusion. Yes, it’s definitely just her illusion. Absolutely her illusion.

There’s no way she would develop a crush on him!

Anyway, Ye Zhi simply refuses to admit that for just one fleeting second, she had a crush on Gong Juechen.

...

In the military camp, periodic competitions were already a tradition. Firstly, to satisfy everyone’s competitive spirit, and secondly, to prevent the monotony of daily training by providing some relaxation and joy for the soldiers.

Besides, looking at it from another angle, competitions were also a form of training.

So, when An Jing proposed a competition between the male and female soldiers, the leaders of the Wolf Camp, Tiger Camp, and Leopard Camp agreed without hesitation.

While An Jing didn’t oversee other camps, Wolf Camp, Tiger Camp, and Leopard Camp were stationed outside the Imperial Capital just like the female camp. Naturally, she chose nearby camps for the competition.

To avoid any grievances from competing exclusively against a single camp, An Jing proposed that each of the Wolf Camp, Tiger Camp, and Leopard Camp send a selection of soldiers to compete against the female soldiers.

After discussions, the three camp leaders decided that Wolf Camp and Tiger Camp would each send three soldiers, while Leopard Camp would send four soldiers, making it ten against ten in the competition.

The leaders of the three camps, having witnessed An Jing’s training sessions, coupled with these female soldiers being coached by Xiao Changyi, didn’t dare to underestimate their opponents. The soldiers chosen for the competition were the elites of their respective camps.

The reason female soldiers were often looked down upon was the perception that women were physically weaker and incapable of fighting enemies on the battlefield. However, An Jing didn’t intend for the female soldiers to reveal all their skills to the male soldiers, so after discussions with the camp leaders, they settled on two events for the competition.

The first event was one-on-one sparring between ten female soldiers and ten male soldiers to compare their combat skills.

The second event tested the reinforcement speed: a sixty-kilometer march on foot with a thirty-pound load. Whether the female soldiers or male soldiers arrived first as a complete group would determine the winner. The teams also had to complete the task within four hours. If anyone failed to do so within the timeframe, their individual score wouldn’t count, disadvantaging their respective team.

The competition was scheduled over two days.

October 12th was the reinforcement speed trial. October 13th was the one-on-one match.

When the soldiers of Wolf Camp, Tiger Camp, and Leopard Camp learned that their camps’ elites would be competing against female soldiers, many thought their leaders were overestimating the female camp. Even if the women were trained by Prince Yi, surely it wasn’t necessary to send such highly-ranked elites to face them!

With this mindset, they waited with amusement, ready to watch their elites utterly crush the female soldiers.

Some even joked that the female soldiers were bound to cry when they lost.

The day came — October 12th.

At the fourth quarter of the hour of the dragon.

The ten female and ten male soldiers competing in the reinforcement speed trial had gathered. Surrounding them was a large crowd of soldiers eager to watch the spectacle.

Among the spectators, a few remarked to the participating male soldiers to show the female soldiers some mercy and not beat them so badly that they’d end up in tears, as it would be hard to console them.

Hearing these remarks, the crowd burst into laughter.

An Jing also laughed, though it wasn’t out of ridicule. She laughed because she knew how arrogant these people were now, and how humiliated they’d feel after the competition results were revealed.

Ye Zhi laughed too — she shared the exact same thought as An Jing at that moment.
