Chapter 1306: Chapter 1307: She Overestimated...

Gong Juechen was especially happy that Ye Zhi was talking to him again, and his tone became particularly light-hearted: ”No, I haven’t slept in the last two days.”

Before Ye Zhi could ask why he hadn’t slept for two days, she heard Gong Juechen continuing, ”I had to watch over you. You hadn’t woken up; how could I sleep?”

Ye Zhi’s heart was instantly filled with mixed emotions.

Yet Gong Juechen kept talking, ”Now that you’re awake, I can finally get a good night’s sleep tonight. But don’t worry about not being able to wake me up. If you need anything, just call me, and I’ll get up right away. You can ask me to handle anything; right now, you just need to focus on recovering...”

Gong Juechen chattered on and on, and in the end, as Ye Zhi listened, it was like listening to a lullaby, and she fell asleep.

Seeing that Ye Zhi had fallen asleep, Gong Juechen was initially stunned, then, without saying anything more, he turned off the oil lamp, lay down on the ground, and also began to sleep. Soon, he too entered dreamland.

He truly hadn’t closed his eyes in the last two days.

...

Early the next morning, An Jing came to see Ye Zhi and was very happy to find Ye Zhi had woken up.

The two had only exchanged a few words when Ye Zhi started to inquire about the training of the new recruits. An Jing said, ”You just focus on recovering. I’ve already asked Wild Goose Jade to temporarily take over the responsibilities you were managing. There are no new training programs at the moment, and Wild Goose Jade has been managing quite well these past two days. By the time we add new training programs, your injuries will probably have healed.”

Originally, An Jing had planned to slowly let the new recruits learn some skills after training them for a month, but she realized she had overestimated the overall level of the recruits. Although the physical fitness of the recruits had greatly improved, they still hadn’t met her standards.

Looking at the fifty kilometers weighted cross-country march, out of ten new recruits, only five completed it on time. If assessed on a scale of a hundred, that would be just fifty percent, while sixty percent is passing.

Having not passed, they could only train their physical fitness for another month or two.

When An Jing mentioned that only five people had completed the fifty kilometers weighted cross-country march on time, Ye Zhi was silent for a moment before saying, ”We can’t rush this, but we still need to intensify the training. Let’s do as you suggest and not add new training programs for now. Continue focusing on training everyone’s physical fitness for another month or two.”

”Hmm.” She paused, ”You take good care of yourself, I am looking forward to training with you again.”

”I will take good care of myself.” Then, Ye Zhi sighed and said, ”Training is more interesting; lying around like this, I’m almost getting moldy.”

An Jing burst into laughter, ”Gong Juechen has been taking good care of you, you won’t get moldy.”

At the moment, Gong Juechen was not in the tent. Because when An Jing had arrived, Ye Zhi had asked Gong Juechen to leave so she could talk to An Jing alone.

Ye Zhi hummed, ”You are my boss, yet you let an outsider take care of me! And a man, at that! Everyone already thought what he said was true, and now they must believe it even more!”

”Believe what?”

”Believe that I am his unwedded wife!” Her reputation is completely gone!

An Jing was silent for a moment, hesitating a bit, then finally said, ”Ye Zi, I know it’s not proper for a man to be guarding you, but when you were unconscious, he was really worried. I didn’t have the heart to ask him to leave then. You didn’t see his expression at the time, really—”

An Jing had not finished speaking when Ye Zhi interrupted, ”If this time I hadn’t injured my back, but my face instead, he wouldn’t have stayed by my side.”
