Chapter 1318: Chapter 1319: Long Face

Upon hearing this, An Jing did not immediately summon the soldier pointed out by Liu Feifei. Instead, she asked Liu Feifei, ”Are you sure?” She paused for a moment, then added, ”You only have one chance.” She hoped she would be cautious.

Liu Feifei affirmed with particular certainty, ”It’s him! I’m sure of it!”

An Jing nodded, and then had the soldier identified by Liu Feifei come over.

Liu Feifei also hurried to An Jing’s side.

An Jing did not rush to have the soldier clean his face; she simply asked Liu Feifei, ”Tell me, how did you recognize him?”

On the side of the training ground, there was a table with brushes, ink, paper, and an inkstone set upon it.

Liu Feifei walked to the table, picked up a brush, and while she started to draw the portrait of the soldier from her memory on the paper with ink, she slowly explained, ”The soldier I saw just now has a not-so-prominent nose with very small nostrils, fairly distinct cheekbones, a not-so-broad forehead, not overly protruding brow ridges, double eyelids, shallow eye sockets, eyes that are not too large or too small, but the corners of his eyes are slightly upturned.”

”He is about a head taller than me, with slightly protruding ears, his neck slightly leans forward, his shoulders aren’t very broad, but his jaw is somewhat chunky.” By the time she finished speaking, Liu Feifei had also completed the drawing, ”It looks just like this.”

Liu Feifei showed the drawing to An Jing.

”And this soldier,” Liu Feifei pointed at the soldier she had identified, ”looks just like this.”

Quite frankly, the portrait Liu Feifei spoke of did resemble him, and the lines were sketched with remarkable accuracy, exactly matching the facial features of the soldier in An Jing and their companions’ memory.

It was only then that An Jing ordered the soldier picked out to wash off the mud from his face in front of them.

And indeed, once cleaned, he was the same person An Jing instructed Liu Feifei to identify, exactly matching the person in the drawing.

”This...” Qi Tengfei exclaimed in admiration, ”I really didn’t expect Miss Liu to possess such a talent, truly a prodigy.”

The others were also quite astonished.

An Jing was amazed as well; Liu Feifei’s ability to recognize people was indeed incredibly powerful.

She had specifically instructed her husband to ask Qi Tengfei to choose a very ordinary soldier for Liu Feifei to identify.

The more ordinary, the more common they are in a crowd, and to be able to pick them out, that is indeed a true skill.

And in this respect, Liu Feifei had such a skill.

Moreover, An Jing also noticed that Liu Feifei seemed to recognize people not by their appearance but by their bone structure; once she knew a person’s bone structure, no matter how they disguised themselves, she could still identify them.

With such a large display, involving five thousand soldiers, it wasn’t long before Liu Feifei’s exceptional talent for recognizing people spread throughout the military.

Soon, it reached Su Chengyu’s ears.

The next day, during the early court session in the grand hall, Su Chengyu mentioned this incident, calling it a remarkable event.

The Marquis of Boyang stood down at the jade steps, listening to the Emperor speak in front of all the civil and military officials of his daughter Liu Feifei, and he felt enormously proud.

Initially, he was not at all keen on having his daughter join the military, but now that she had, even if he was reluctant, he had to accept it.

Now that his daughter had brought honor to the family, his displeasure about her joining the military naturally diminished.

...

An Jing and Ye Zhi had already tested Liu Feifei and knew that her ability to recognize people was exceptionally strong; they were completely reassured in their minds and ceased to dwell on this matter, continuing with their training.

An Jing and Ye Zhi planned to start teaching the recruits some skills instead of focusing on physical endurance training all day long.
