Chapter 1309: Chapter 1310: The Two of Them Have Such an Understanding

However, An Jing didn’t tell Su Haoyu that Xiao Changyi had ’secretly’ prepared one for him, she just didn’t bring it out to give to him.

Originally, An Jing wanted to make a matryoshka doll for Su Haoyu as well, but thinking that she shouldn’t always take the initiative and Xiao Changyi was so passive, she only told Xiao Changyi to make one for each of the four children, hoping to encourage Xiao Changyi to take some initiative.

And Xiao Changyi did not disappoint her.

When they made the matryoshka dolls for the children, he also had an extra one made for Su Haoyu, his adoptive father.

Even more so, her husband made one not just for Su Haoyu, but also for Su Chengyu.

Before leaving the military camp, she had seen with her own eyes how her husband had packed six matryoshka dolls in a cloth bundle, four for the children, one for Su Haoyu, and without saying, everyone knew the last one was for Su Chengyu.

And though she clearly saw it, and her husband saw that she saw it, she didn’t ask or speak about it, and her husband also said nothing about those two matryoshka dolls.

The two of them shared such an unspoken understanding.

With that thought, An Jing smiled, and then she opened another doll, revealing an even smaller doll inside than the previous ones.

The four little ones saw it and were delighted, clapping their hands, ”A doll, a smaller doll!”

Su Haoyu, seeing each doll smaller than the last, felt even more envious and desired a set for himself even more.

An Jing continued to open them, and with each smaller doll revealed, the children would cheer and clap their hands in great excitement, while Su Haoyu grew increasingly envious and at the same time, more wistful.

He really wanted one...

When An Jing had all the matryoshka dolls opened, twelve dolls were lined up neatly in a row, from largest to smallest, each doll identical in design but different in size, all brightly colored and festive, and all particularly cute.

”Jing’er, Star, Qinger, Yun Er, come, count and see, how many dolls are there?” An Jing asked the four little ones to count how many dolls were in a set.

Su Yixing and An Yiqing could only count from one to ten, and couldn’t count beyond that, while Su Yi Jing and An Yiyun could count from one to twenty, so only Su Yi Jing and An Yiyun answered, ”Twelve dolls, twelve dolls.”

”That’s right, there are twelve dolls.” An Jing smiled and stroked the heads of Su Yi Jing and An Yiyun, then said to the four little ones, ”When you are with grandpa, you must be good and listen to him. If daddy and mommy have any more fun toys in the future, we’ll send them over for you to play with.”

”Yes~”

”So well-behaved.” An Jing was very content.

”Mommy, I want to play with the dolls, Yun Er wants to play with the dolls.” An Yiyun clamored to play with the dolls.

”Then go ahead and play.” It was only then that An Jing stopped holding An Yiyun and gave a matryoshka doll to the little one, letting An Yiyun play by dismantling it.

Seeing this, the other three little ones also clamored to play.

An Jing agreed.

The four little ones sat next to An Jing and Xiao Changyi, engrossed in playing with the matryoshka dolls, giggling with each smaller doll they uncovered, before continuing to dismantle.

Su Haoyu watched the four little ones play with so much joy, growing even more envious and desiring a set for himself. Even if he wouldn’t play with them childishly like the little ones, it would be nice to have a collection.

An Jing, with a quick glance out of the corner of her eye, saw Su Haoyu like this and found it amusing. Then, she nudged the person sitting next to her with her elbow.

Xiao Changyi, nudged by An Jing, looked at her and, seeing An Jing making funny faces at him, as if to say ’hurry up and give the thing,’ he then took another matryoshka doll out of the bundle.
