Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1326: Chapter 1327 Even if she cares, it’s because she feels for him

Taking the clothes and mallet from Tobanya’s hands, he helped wash the clothes while saying, ”Just now, Gong Juechen came to see me. He said he developed a scar removal medicine and wanted me to try it. Maybe it could lighten the scars on my face.”

The slight smile on Tobanya’s lips instantly faded, and her face became expressionless in an instant.

Meng Zhuqing noticed Tobanya’s change and immediately became anxious: ”Yao’er, don’t be angry. I haven’t agreed to try the medicine yet. I came to ask for your opinion to see what you think.”

Tobanya didn’t say whether she was angry or not; she just emotionlessly asked, ”Do you care a lot about the injury on your face?”

Meng Zhuqing was silent for a while, then nodded: ”... Yes.”

”I don’t mind.”

”I know, but I feel like my current appearance is embarrassing you. If the scars on my face can be lightened, maybe it won’t be as unsightly as it is now.”

”Medicines always carry some toxicity. Is this medicine really something to be tested casually?” Finally, Tobanya was truly angry, her voice colder than ever. ”Not to mention whether your face might get even worse from testing this medicine, if something happens to you because of this medicine...”

As she spoke, Tobanya couldn’t continue, her voice starting to choke up. She had been working so hard in the military camp for what? All for him.

Upon hearing Tobanya’s choked voice, Meng Zhuqing stopped mentioning Gong Juechen’s assurance that the medicine wouldn’t harm his face or body. He immediately surrendered unconditionally, rushing to say, ”Yao’er, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have brought this up to you. Don’t be upset; I will just refuse him, please don’t cry.”

Although Tobanya didn’t cry, her eyes were somewhat red: ”Why would you listen to him? Everyone knows he has been making medicine for the deputy instructor’s scars recently. He didn’t give the medicine directly to the deputy instructor but gave it to you, which shows that he himself isn’t sure about the medicine’s effect. And you still naively want to try it, you...”

Seeing his wife like this, Meng Zhuqing felt heartbroken: ”I just didn’t want to embarrass you...”

”I don’t feel embarrassed by you. Do you not know how you got the injury on your face? It was because of me! If I thought you embarrassed me, would I still be human?” After a while, Tobanya choked up again and said softly, ”I barely have time to feel heartbroken, how could I feel you are an embarrassment?”

She had always known his complexes about this, so whenever it was just the two of them, she never allowed him to wear a mask. Why? Just so he wouldn’t dwell on it too much. She really didn’t care about his face at all.

Even if she cared, it was only because she felt heartbroken for him.

Listening to Tobanya choking and saying she felt heartbroken for him, Meng Zhuqing felt even more heartbroken, so anxious that he didn’t know what to say, only repeatedly saying, ”It’s my fault, my fault, it’s all my fault, I always thought I was embarrassing you, never really considering your feelings, it’s me...”

”If you really didn’t consider my feelings, you wouldn’t have reacted like this.” Tobanya cut off his words, and her eyes grew even redder. ”Zhuqing, can’t you just disregard the injury on your face? Aren’t we doing well right now?”

Tobanya didn’t want to cry; she had gotten used to being strong, but facing this person right now, she had cried painfully before and now, she cried again, a heartbroken cry.

A single tear quietly slid down from her eye, silent in the bright moonlight, appearing exceptionally crystal clear.
