Chapter 1329: Chapter 1330: Artificial Respiration

Li Wuyu can now exchange forty moves with Tobanya using a sword.

The swordsmanship of Tobanya and Shi Shi has also improved significantly, and now that Li Wuyu can go forty moves with Tobanya, this progress can be said to be truly great.

An Jing is very satisfied with Li Wuyu’s achievement in learning swordsmanship to such a level in two months.

Liu Feifei also learns swordsmanship. It’s not particularly good, but it’s not bad either.

As for Qin, Qi, Shu, and Hua, the four people can now hit the target with arrows, and occasionally even hit the bullseye’s red heart.

Su Chengyuan really likes using a whip; every set of whip techniques that Xiao Changyi teaches, she learns with great interest. With her decent natural talent and willingness to endure hardship, the whip is now wielded by her like a snake winding through her fingers, extremely agile.

Having used an ax to chop pork bones for so many years at home, Du Aya thinks the difference between this ax and the one for chopping bones is negligible. Previously, she would swing the ax wildly, but now she wields it with more skill, understanding better how to attack the enemy and protect herself.

On May 20th, while An Jing and Xiao Changyi were training the troops, people from the Imperial Palace arrived. They were sent by Su Chengyu, who said that Ning Wenxian had given birth to a boy and a girl.

The girl was born first from Ning Wenxian’s womb.

That is to say, Su Chengyu and Ning Wenxian’s third child is a girl, and their fourth child is a boy.

That evening, An Jing and Xiao Changyi brought generous gifts to the palace to see Ning Wenxian and her two newborn babies, and also to visit their four little ones.

On the way back from the palace to the military camp, An Jing mentioned tomorrow’s task of familiarizing ten female soldiers with water, which means teaching ten female soldiers to swim.

Speaking of swimming, An Jing thought of drowning and suddenly said, ”My lord, getting used to the water can easily lead to drowning, and some cases of drowning can be resolved by artificial respiration, helping the victims to regain spontaneous breathing.”

That is to say, drowning does not necessarily lead to death.

Here, without artificial respiration, most people who suffocate from drowning are on a path to death.

”Artificial respiration?” Xiao Changyi did not know what that meant.

An Jing explained: ”Once someone is suffocating from drowning, they can be saved with this method. It might save lives. This method was always used in my original world. But it involves mouth-to-mouth respiration, and I think people here may not accept it.”

Following that, An Jing explained the specific operation of artificial respiration to Xiao Changyi.

Xiao Changyi listened with a frown and even after hearing what An Jing said, he made a request: ”Besides me, you are not allowed to perform artificial respiration on anyone else.”

An Jing laughed instantly, ”Even if it’s to save a life, it’s still not allowed?”

”No,” Xiao Changyi answered succinctly and decisively.

Seeing Xiao Changyi so serious, An Jing quickly promised then said, ”Okay, apart from you, I won’t perform artificial respiration on anyone else.”

Xiao Changyi’s expression then relaxed somewhat and he said indifferently, ”The method can be taught but not actually practiced. Let everyone know that there is such a method. Whether they will use it or not to save lives in the future is up to their own choice.”

Here, the cultural norms are particularly strict regarding women.

If it is between husband and wife, artificial respiration may be acceptable, but if it is between people who are not married, performing artificial respiration will lead to severe condemnation for a woman.
