Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 830: Chapter 504: So Why Is Shi Wanyun Here? (2)

...Is that so.

”You just mentioned that the bugs inside this pailou,” Xu Xin pointed at the crystal gate emitting a pale white glow in front of them, ”would become aggressive?”

”Yes, exactly. I know you want to enter that palace, and I want to enter it too, but you must be careful. The group attack power of those flying insects and crawling bugs should not be underestimated.” Shi Wanyun looked toward the palace and said.

”No way...,” Lou Fei’Er’s expression immediately dropped, looking distraught, ”They will attack us? Then can our insect repellent potion still be useful...”

”Insect repellent potion?” Shi Wanyun’s eyes flickered, looking at them.

”Let’s get a bit closer and see.” Xu Xin wasn’t overly generous; the stuff in the bottle was rare, and not much was left, so economizing was key.

”...I’ll go with you.” Shi Wanyun said.

Xu Xin glanced at her, ”Are you... really okay with that? This is under my treehouse. Do you think you can make it back?”

He had many questions he wanted to ask Shi Wanyun, but it was clearly not the time.

”Whether I can make it back or not should be discussed after trying hard.” Shi Wanyun retorted, then smiled slightly and shook her head, ”Even if I can’t make it back, if you can take me in, maybe... I can live more easily than before?”

”Not maybe, definitely!” Lou Fei’Er turned her head to look at her and said, ”Living together is much easier than living alone.”

”Alright, enough talking, let’s go in and have a look.” Xu Xin looked deeply at Shi Wanyun, cradling Keke, who was already asleep on his shoulder and somewhat unsteady. He gently rubbed Keke’s little head and walked toward the Crystal City.

Lou Fei’Er quickly followed, also turning back and saying, ”Come on, let’s all go together.”

”Okay.”

The Crystal City was indeed beyond their imagination.

All the buildings in the city were made from materials that emitted a glowing white light.

Xu Xin reached out to touch them, feeling the gentle and delicate texture.

These buildings were as if meticulously polished jade objects, making them somewhat irresistible.

What exactly is this place?

...

Shi Wanyun kept walking behind the two.

Although she also had behaviors of touching and observing the surroundings, her gaze was almost always fixed on Xu Xin.

Her eyes were no longer the same gentle ones from before, but rather somewhat tangled and also a bit... cold.

She gently pursed her lips.

Xu Xin, I’ve finally seen you.

Really took quite a bit of effort.

Didn’t you say before that I’m not good at lying, that I overexert myself in deceit, and that my acting skills are poor?

I wonder if you saw through the lie I just told.

Seeing Xu Xin slightly turning back, she seamlessly and calmly shifted her gaze, gently touching the nearby crystal building.

Everything so natural.

What should I do now...

Do I side with him and tell him everything...

Or do what they said...

Kill him?

...

Lou Fei’Er slightly tilted her head and glanced at Shi Wanyun, a hint of doubt flickering in her eyes.

She always felt there was something off about this woman.

”Xu Xin, Xu Xin...” Seeing Shi Wanyun didn’t notice here, Lou Fei’Er poked him and whispered, ”Do you really believe what Shi Wanyun said? Isn’t it too coincidental? Why would she teleport to us here? And what she just said felt a bit... off?”

”What was off?” Xu Xin looked at her and said, ”Don’t think too much. This place itself is very peculiar, her teleporting here is quite normal, and she’s experienced such things before. It shouldn’t be fake. She’s quite a support to us now.”

”Is that so...” Xu Xin’s words considerably impacted Lou Fei’Er, and hearing what he said, she temporarily put down her guard, ”Hmm... Maybe I’m overthinking it.”

”Don’t overthink. Let’s solve the problem here first.”

”Okay. Keke, Keke, wake up! We’re exploring!”

”Mmm...” Keke moved its little paw to push away Lou Fei’Er’s hand but was still picked up by her.

Xu Xin turned his head and glanced at Shi Wanyun, who was watching them and walking toward them.

Xu Xin faintly smiled, and Shi Wanyun responded with a gentle smile.

He gently inhaled.

He certainly hadn’t dropped his guard.

To be honest, when he first saw her, Xu Xin didn’t actually have any reservations about her.

After all, she was someone he saved, essentially a familiar, with a gentle exterior, and made one feel very close, giving a very good first impression.

But the problem... lies here.

This sense of closeness was a bit too strong.

Strong enough to... feel similar to what Li Wenxi gave him today.

This instead stirred Xu Xin’s suspicion.

Would an ordinary person give him this feeling upon first meeting him?

It’s not like he’s someone who hasn’t seen beautiful people; Li Wenxi and Lou Fei’Er are no less attractive than her. Why on the first meeting with Shi Wanyun, is the closeness so intense?

Do you believe in fate, believe in destiny?

Anyway, Xu Xin doesn’t.

So, he now could almost be certain that this closeness came from an ability he was familiar with.

Came from a skill that Li Wenxi had today.

[Random Amplification: Affinity Amplification]

Yes, that’s the thing.

Random Amplification was the reward for dispelling the tornado before nightfall during the storm season.
