Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 824: Chapter 502: You Think This Is... a Tomb?

”Do you think... this underground world could be someone’s... tomb?” Jin Yue suddenly spoke up.

”Huh?” Zeng Tao sharply turned to look at her, ”What... tomb?”

”Yes, a tomb.” Jin Yue nodded.

”...Haha, no way?” Zeng Tao suddenly felt a bit creepy, ”Don’t scare me like that, aren’t tombs supposed to be underground pits? Who would build a tomb into an underground city... what would be the point?”

”No, in ancient times, this was rare, but it did happen.” Jin Yue pondered, ”An Emperor’s mausoleum.”

”Emperor... Emperor’s mausoleum?” Zeng Tao’s eyes widened.

”The most famous should be... Emperor Shi’s Mausoleum.”

Emperor Shi’s Mausoleum, the tomb of the first emperor in Huaxia’s history, also the first large-scale and well-designed royal burial site in Huaxia’s history.

This mausoleum covers more than fifty square kilometers, which is more than eighty thousand mu, five million square meters. Its vastness exceeds even the area of some county districts in current cities, over a hundred times the size of Vatican!

According to historical records, the mausoleum of Emperor Shi contains various palaces and displays many peculiar treasures.

And around the mausoleum, there are many different forms and meanings of burial pits and graves. Over 400 have been discovered, including the widely known Terra Cotta Warriors.

Emperor Shi’s Mausoleum is one of the largest, most uniquely structured, and richest in content imperial tombs on Earth. Compared to Emperor Shi’s Mausoleum, the underground city they are seeing now pales in comparison.

Of course, the area here is also very large.

From the edge to the central palace, it seems to be nearly two kilometers, meaning that one side of this square underground area is about four kilometers long. The estimated area is roughly fifteen or sixteen square kilometers.

It is quite large.

Moreover, the entire space is built underground, and in terms of construction difficulty, modern people might not be able to achieve such a stable underground space with heights reaching tens of meters.

Everything here is made with stone blocks and slabs, without using any metals.

Listening to Jin Yue’s explanation, Zeng Tao was speechless, swallowing and saying, ”No way... this couldn’t really be an underground mausoleum, could it? The way you say it makes it seem very possible! The things here have never been used, as though after its construction it was buried deep underground, never to see the light of day again... and this very authentic-looking city...”

She became more and more excited, with her previous small fear of an underground tomb disappearing without a trace. ”Judging by the scale of this city, it’s like restoring the capital city of some ancient empire! The owner of this tomb must be a major figure! Given such a major figure, there must be a lot of burial items! If we could find...”

”We’d get rich for sure! There must be a ton of good stuff!” Zeng Tao suddenly wasn’t as restless or unmotivated as before, her eyes shining, ”That central palace! That stone palace must have good stuff!”

”Don’t get too excited, it’s just my guess.” Jin Yue threw cold water on her, ”We haven’t confirmed if this is an underground mausoleum; it just looks a bit like one. Also, what we should be worried about now is that swarm of insects outside.”

But Zeng Tao was already in the zone. She paced around the room, ”Let’s hurry to that palace! Qin Fu might be here too, he might already be in that palace! If we’re late, he might have already explored the palace completely!”

”...Did you hear what I said or not...” Jin Yue looked at her helplessly, ”We can’t even get out of here now. Even if we could, you can’t run around recklessly. If this is indeed a mausoleum, there will definitely be mechanisms to prevent future grave robbers, and the exploration won’t be easy; it might be life-threatening.”

”Hmm... Indeed.” Zeng Tao’s mind cooled down, and she exclaimed, ”Hey, if this is really a mausoleum, what kind of amazing person is the owner!”

...

Xu Xin and Lou Fei’Er jumped down from the human-faced statue.

The statue’s surroundings were free of insects.

The few remaining insects in the pit were mostly gathered around the bonfire and would soon be wiped out.

”These insects are too easy to deal with.” Lou Fei’Er glanced at the bonfire, ”Burn them all with a little fire?”

”Who was just screaming in fright a moment ago, legs turning to jelly?” Xu Xin glanced at her, smiling.

”I’m just afraid of insects, so what!” Lou Fei’Er defended confidently.

”Alright, let’s hurry and take a look around.”

”Okay, borrow Keke for a bit!” Lou Fei’Er took Keke from Xu Xin’s shoulder and went off to observe.

Meanwhile, Xu Xin turned his attention back to the human-faced statue he had already explored once.

This statue, carved with his face.

He still felt that the key must be with this statue.

The surrounding buildings were all in ruins, and only this statue was still intact. It was the most special existence here.

Now, under the illumination of the fire, its face was even clearer.

”...”

Xu Xin took a deep breath.

Seeing his likeness carved into such a large statue, with those open eyes staring straight at him, it really gave him the creeps.
