Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 809: Chapter 497: What Did We Just Unleash?!

”Look over here again!” Lou Fei’Er grabbed Xu Xin’s arm and walked a few meters to the other side, then pointed to the base of another tree, ”There’s more here.”

Xu Xin squatted down, looking at the writing under the treehouse.

The same words again.

[Hurry up and leave, do not come near here]

The handwriting was distorted and peculiar, almost as if...

It was drawn by someone who had never learned Chinese, imitating the shapes of each character.

”There’s more here too!”

Lou Fei’Er led Xu Xin to several more trees, where the same writing could be seen below.

In fact, most of the trees in this area had the same situation underneath.

”The writing is a bit unattractive, but they’re Chinese characters,” Lou Fei’Er shared her thoughts, ”Chinese characters must have been written by fellow survivors, right? Furthermore, these characters are all written below the trees. Do you remember Qin Fu’s ability? His ability is related to plants, isn’t it?”

”This...”

Xu Xin began to ponder.

Lou Fei’Er’s reasoning made some sense.

He was certain that before Qin Fu disappeared, he absolutely did not leave these inscriptions for them.

Because at that time, Qin Fu was on a call with him the whole time.

He disappeared suddenly in the middle of the conversation, and the map also no longer showed his location, meaning he couldn’t have had the time to do something like this.

But, if it was indeed as Lou Fei’Er suggested, then he...

Made the trees do such a thing?

Or was it something else entirely?

Is it even possible to do something like this?

Xu Xin furrowed his brows.

Honestly, he was more inclined to believe this was done by something else to make them leave.

But now that Keke had already noticed the anomaly here, he at least needed to find out what was really going on over there.

”Ying?” Lying on Xu Xin’s shoulder, a lethargic Keke suddenly lifted its little head and looked towards the direction where Zeng Tao was digging a hole.

At that moment, Zeng Tao’s voice also came over.

”Xu Xin, come over here quickly, what’s underneath this is... ah!”

”Zeng Tao! Ah!” And Jin Yue’s voice.

!?

What happened?!

”What’s wrong with you guys?”

”What happened?”

But no one responded.

Xu Xin and Lou Fei’Er exchanged a glance and immediately ran back.

Soon, the two of them arrived at the spot where they had just been digging.

However...

Zeng Tao and the Jin Yue who just called out were nowhere to be seen.

Only a deepened pit remained.

”What happened? Where did the two of them go?”

Lou Fei’Er lay on the edge of the pit and looked down.

The pit wasn’t dug very deep, only about 1.5 meters deep.

Below, the soil was a bit messy from digging.

”... I told her to stop digging!” Xu Xin gritted his teeth.

Logically speaking, he had entered into a contract with Zeng Tao, so under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be able to do anything against his will, which is why he had felt safe enough to look for Lou Fei’Er.

But...

Unexpectedly, Zeng Tao didn’t listen and obediently wait as he advised!

Sure enough, something went wrong!

He knew there was nothing good down there!

On the map, the green dots representing Zeng Tao and Jin Yue had vanished.

It was almost identical to what happened with Qin Fu before.

They suddenly disappeared, right where they stood.

This time, it felt even more intense for him, as he had been just tens of meters away, and they vanished in the blink of an eye!

”What happened?” At this point, Li Wenxi, who had been silent, finally spoke, ”What happened on your side?”

Though she hadn’t spoken, she had been listening to what was happening there, and although she couldn’t understand their conversation, she didn’t interrupt. She only knew that if something happened, she would provide support with her crossbow.

”... Zeng Tao and the others are gone.”

”Huh? This...”

Xu Xin also crouched down to look into the pit’s depths.

In the pit, there was just plain soil, and nothing else.

Keke also jumped down from his shoulder and looked down.

However, it failed to stabilize its claws on the pit’s edge, nearly falling headfirst.

”Yingyingying!” Keke cried out in panic.

Then got pulled up by its tail by Xu Xin.

”Don’t run around!”

”Ying...” The little guy hid behind Xu Xin.

...?

Something’s not right.

The pit was only 1.5 meters deep, which for Keke...

It wasn’t even taller than his shoulder, right?

It jumps around on his shoulders all the time; how could it be afraid of such a height?

”Keke, can you feel that there is danger below?”

”Ying!”

Xu Xin carefully looked down.

In the dark dense forest, it was overly dark, and although he could see at night, he couldn’t perceive colors clearly. It took him a while to realize...

The soil... was red!

Moreover, it wasn’t just light red; the color wasn’t light at all!

”This is... polluted soil!”

Lou Fei’Er was about to jump in when Xu Xin stopped her with an outstretched hand.

”The problem should be with the soil below.” Xu Xin squinted his eyes and looked downward.

They really did find something.

Could this soil... eat people?

”What should we do? I... I’ll go down and take a look! I’ll get the two of them back!”

Lou Fei’Er was somewhat panicked.

The two of them disappeared right under their noses, and they were two of the few people she felt closest to in this world, which left her unable to stay calm.

”No.” Xu Xin slowly shook his head.

Lou Fei’Er turned sharply to look at him: ”You want to give up on them?”
