Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 811: Chapter 498: Another World

The sound of insects chirping around had completely surrounded them.

Countless flying insects were circling all around, on the ground, and in the trees. There were originally not many insects in sight, but now countless bugs had emerged from nowhere!

Soon, the two of them found it impossible to move!

All were insects!

They even obscured their vision!

The giant insect had appeared in Xu Xin’s sight for just a few seconds before being completely covered by swarms of bugs!

Because the sound of insects was so intense, he was now utterly lost.

Damn it, where did these insects come from!

”Xu Xin... Xu Xin!” Lou Fei’Er shouted directly into his ear, ”The insects are all emerging from the ground!!”

Ground?!

Xu Xin immediately looked down at the ground.

The ground was already crawling with black insects resembling beetles, so densely packed that it made his head spin.

Despite this, different insects continued to emerge from below.

Upon closer inspection, there were indeed dense small holes in the ground, and all these insects were crawling out from them!

Moreover, the originally normal soil was slowly beginning to turn red!

The nearby soil was being polluted!

Beside him, Lou Fei’Er was practically hanging onto him, her face filled with fear.

Although each insect was quite weak, there were simply too many, creating a terrifying scene for her!

It was simply Hell!

”Whee!!” On Xu Xin’s shoulder, Keke was frantically waving its paws, trying to drive away the surrounding flying insects.

But how could the insects be afraid of such a little creature? They barely paid any attention to it.

Similarly, these insects did not bother Xu Xin and his companion much.

Xu Xin also realized that these insects were not targeting them. Not only did they show no interest but even treated them as obstacles, avoiding them as they moved.

Despite the ground being densely populated with insects, none climbed onto them.

Flying insects in the air were slightly less controllable, occasionally hitting them, but seemed not doing so intentionally.

Additionally, they were fully covered up when they went out, so speaking was not an issue.

Xu Xin stepped forward with his leg.

The insects on the ground instantly scattered when his foot was about to land.

When his foot hit the ground, there were no insects there, landing directly on the earth.

Oh, these insects actually knew to dodge?

As long as their pace was not too quick, these insects would automatically avoid being stepped on.

It was still pretty good; at least they wouldn’t have to squash dozens of insects with each step, which would be quite gross.

Having ascertained that his current situation was not extremely dangerous, Xu Xin raised his watch to his ear.

”Xu Xin! Xu Xin!! Can you hear me!!”

The shout from Li Wenxi came through the watch.

”I can hear you!” Xu Xin shouted back.

With the insect noise being too loud, if he didn’t shout, the opposite side probably wouldn’t hear.

”Great! You’re okay! Over there... over there... it’s full of insects! Swarming, all flying insects! And, there’s also that big insect, its mouth is facing my way!” Li Wenxi’s voice sounded somewhat hoarse.

The previous yelling had made her throat hoarse, but she continued shouting the words, afraid Xu Xin wouldn’t hear.

”Big... big insect...!” Next to him, Lou Fei’Er was practically hanging onto him, her body feeling limp.

”If the insects attack the treehouse, retaliate directly with the heavy crossbow!” Xu Xin yelled into the watch, ”Ordinary explosive crossbows are ineffective, use the big weapon directly!”

”The giant insect seems not to intend to attack the treehouse, it’s just standing there, but... those small insects have already spread over! Those flying insects! Oh my god!”

Damn...!

This big insect must be the mother bug!

It can control the swarm!

Xu Xin wanted to attempt to read the mind of the giant insect, which should be only a hundred meters away, but due to the overwhelming number of small insects, their chaotic, unreadable thoughts prevented him from pinpointing the target.

In an instant, his head felt like it was going to explode, he quickly exited the mind-reading state, his body swayed, almost falling over.

Damn, the mental exhaustion in that instant was tremendous!

”What’s wrong with you?” Nearby, Lou Fei’Er noticed his face turn red, then pale, and became even more panicked, ”You... you... don’t have any accidents! If something happens to you, I...”

”I’m fine.” Xu Xin waved his hand, stabilizing his spirit.

The number of insects around decreased significantly within a few seconds, and their dispersal direction was towards the treehouse.

Li Wenxi was right; the swarm was indeed heading for the treehouse!

What should we do now?

Head back?

Or... go closer to take a look at the giant insect?

”Wenxi, is the giant insect really not moving now?”

”No! The giant insect isn’t moving! But the small insects are going to reach! Ah! They’re gnawing at the wood!”

”Xu Xin! Over there!” Lou Fei’Er screamed, pointing towards the treehouse, ”They’re so fierce!”

”Whee!” Keke also screamed, its four paws clutching tightly onto Xu Xin’s shoulder.

Xu Xin looked over in that direction, his pupils constricted sharply.
