Chapter 815: Chapter 499: This Giant Bug Is Kind of Cute

”Going back... it’s too dangerous. The opponent’s probing attack was already so powerful...”

The insect turned out to be so cautious.

It believed that the first attack from the treehouse was just a probing attack, and that it couldn’t have been executed with its full strength right away.

If the opponent bombarded it relentlessly, even if it didn’t die, it would be severely injured and on the brink of death.

”This is too dangerous... I’m not the combat type... I can’t die here!”

A red glow suddenly intensified on the giant insect’s body, and then its originally blasted head began to frantically grow and heal.

Xu Xin had a thought.

Not the combat type?

No wonder...

No wonder it stayed in that giant pit, not coming out, just yelling and controlling the swarm while not moving an inch itself.

So it’s because its combat ability isn’t very strong.

Indeed, even when it tried to bite him and Lou Fei’Er earlier, its speed wasn’t very fast, allowing them to easily dodge, leaving it with just a mouthful of dirt.

”Xu Xin! Is it really okay?!” Li Wenxi’s anxious voice came again.

Although Xu Xin’s calm tone earlier put Li Wenxi and Lou Fei’Er at ease, the current situation was truly frightening!

This was obviously the opponent completely enraged!

”Don’t worry, if I say it’s okay, it is.” Xu Xin pressed his lips together, barely resisting the urge to laugh.

At this moment, the inner voice of the giant insect was kind of funny.

”Don’t hit me... Let me go! Once I recover, I’ll take them away! Don’t hit me!”

The giant insect, its body flashing with terrifying blood patterns, its flesh growing crazily, yet it was thinking these things in its heart...

However, taking them away?

It said it wanted to recover its head, or rather, that giant mouth. It seemed like it wanted to use that giant mouth to make a sound, to take the surrounding swarm away from here!

If that’s really the case, then it would be a win-win!

”Hmm... alright.”

Hearing Xu Xin say this, Li Wenxi was reassured, and then curiously asked, ”So, how do you know it’s not dangerous now?”

”This, well, it’s a secret.” Xu Xin rubbed Keke, who looked curiously at the giant insect from his arms, and smiled slightly.

He still intended to keep some secrets to himself.

It’s not that he didn’t trust Li Wenxi, but information always spreads for various reasons, even if not intentionally.

A secret is only a secret if you’re the only one who knows it.

He should have some cards of his own.

”Secret...? Hmm, okay!” Li Wenxi didn’t press further, ”Then I’ll trust you, is there anything else you need me to do?”

”Hmm...” Xu Xin showed a somewhat mischievous smile, ”Control that purple-grade heavy crossbow and aim at the giant insect.”

”Ah? What do you mean?” Li Wenxi was a bit confused, ”We’re out of ammo. I restocked once, you know how much material it consumes.”

”Alright, I’m not telling you to fire, just aim it.”

”Uh... okay, okay.” Li Wenxi was puzzled, muttering, ”Isn’t this a provocation? Are you sure it’s alright?”

However, she did as Xu Xin instructed.

On the treehouse, the gigantic crossbow started moving again, and once more aimed at the giant insect whose head had basically regrown, with its bloody mouth taking shape.

”...!! Don’t hit me! I can leave now!”

Sure enough, when the giant insect saw the crossbow move, it was terrified, screaming inwardly, and even its huge body started to sway.

”Pfft...” Xu Xin couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

This giant insect...

Why does it seem a bit cute?

But those who couldn’t hear its inner voice didn’t think it was cute.

Li Wenxi was somewhat shocked, her face turning pale.

Because, the red glow on the insect became even brighter, and its recovery speed suddenly increased.

A few seconds later, it finally fully restored its head, but immediately after, the blood patterns on its body rapidly dimmed.

Then, the giant insect opened its newly grown huge mouth, and let out a roar that shook the mountain forests.

”————”

In the nearby forest, the swarms that were attacking the bonfire or gnawing at the trees immediately stopped their actions.

Then, out of nowhere, insects swarmed out from underground in the forest!

In an instant, they covered the night sky!

The number of insects was far more than any swarms seen before!

However, around Xu Xin’s current position, not many insects emerged, probably because the previous wave consumed the nearby insects.

”This... this...!” Li Wenxi was at a loss for words, having seen too many intense scenes.

It’s not that she didn’t trust Xu Xin, but one scene following another...

Even Xu Xin’s expression changed.

The number was too astonishing!

Behind him, Lou Fei’Er, who had been silent, suddenly grabbed Xu Xin tightly, her hands trembling continuously.

But Keke, the timid little one, wasn’t scared at all. In fact, it climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder, ”Ying!”

If Keke wasn’t worried, then there was nothing to fear.

As expected, the swarming insects didn’t attack the treehouse nor showed any interest in Xu Xin and the others, but instead flew or crawled collectively towards the giant insect!

They moved at a lightning-fast speed!

”Ah...” Li Wenxi breathed a sigh of relief over the intercom, ”Thankfully they aren’t attacking us, otherwise...”
