Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 803: Chapter 495: Cracked Open

Sure, here is the translated text:

And the color near the bonfire was the deepest, with the surrounding Red Mist continuously gathering around the bonfire.

The bonfire outside was now burning more vigorously.

Of course, although it was said that the color was deep, it was only a faint red, which was almost invisible unless you paid close attention.

This also explained that the strength of these bugs was indeed very weak.

By the way, where did these bugs come from?

Generally, the swarm...

Will have... a mother bug, right?

Xu Xin saw on the map that the red dot representing Qin Fu was now hovering about seven to eight hundred meters away from his treehouse.

According to what this guy had said before, does it mean that he has discovered...

At this moment, on the ground, an egg rolled to his front.

It’s that giant egg.

”Ying!” Keke wanted to pounce on the giant egg to play, but immediately stopped right before the leap, ”Ying?”

Keke looked at the giant egg and blinked: ”Ying... ?!”

Keke’s movements and sounds interrupted Xu Xin’s thoughts, making him look down: ”What’s the matter, is there something...”

His voice came to a halt as he stared at the egg, his eyes gradually widening.

A thin crack appeared on the eggshell of the giant egg.

Unlike the previous freeze-cracks, this crack seemed to have a special pattern. Although he didn’t know what it meant, at least it was definitely not a sign of damage, but instead...

It was going to hatch!

This egg was going to hatch!

”Ying ying! Ying ying ying!” Keke also cried out in amazement.

It jumped off the sofa and walked to the giant egg, not as roughly as before but instead carefully touched the crack on the egg with its little paw.

The giant egg remained still, letting it touch.

”Ying?” Keke gently pushed again.

The egg swayed like a roly-poly toy, leaning back before wobbling upright again, then settled down after a few more oscillations.

Xu Xin was somewhat puzzled.

What... does this mean?

Ah right, thought reading!

Xu Xin immediately activated his thought-reading ability.

”Outside... go... outside!”

The giant egg emitted a very immature voice, its words unclear, as if a small baby practicing pronunciation.

”You want to go outside?” Xu Xin asked.

The outside now, however, was a high temperature of sixty to seventy degrees.

”Want...” The egg began to wobble.

”Ying?” Keke reached out a little paw and pushed the egg again, causing it to wobble more violently.

”Keke, don’t touch!” Xu Xin picked Keke up by the scruff and tossed it onto the sofa.

”Ying ying ying!” Keke waved its little paws in protest but didn’t continue to cause trouble, instead lying on the sofa armrest, curiously observing the pattern-like crack on the giant eggshell.

The giant egg continued to wobble.

”Want to... go outside!”

The immature voice grew slightly clearer.

”Why?” Xu Xin asked again.

Outside now is very dangerous and so hot, he wasn’t too keen to put the egg outside.

”Outside... hot!”

The egg wobbled more intensely.

Hot?

Ah...!

Xu Xin seemed to understand the situation now.

Perhaps the hatching of the giant egg needed higher temperature!

Once, in the cold environment, the egg suffered severe damage, almost killing the little creature inside directly.

This egg couldn’t bear too low a temperature because it likes heat!

That’s why a crack appeared on the eggshell once the scorching heat came!

Is it trying to hatch amidst this heat?

”Alright, I’ll take you out!”

Xu Xin immediately decided to take it outside.

As for the location, he thought of a good place.

The pangolin family’s burrow beneath his treehouse!

After the scorching heat arrived, he had checked once, finding the pangolin family had expanded the burrow quite deeply.

It seemed like the treehouse also knew a pangolin family lived beneath and either due to the help of the vine heart, the roots of the treehouse adjusted slightly over this time, exposing a spot for the pangolins to dig downward.

Therefore, the burrow of the concubine and her two little ones was now very deep.

Although the underground temperature increased slightly in the heat, it’s still much cooler compared to the sun-exposed surface.

Quite cool, akin to the underground garage during summer.

Moreover, the pangolin’s burrow had the advantage that the deeper you went the cooler it got, while closer to the surface it got hotter.

The giant egg, there, could choose a temperature position suitable for itself.

Plus, although the concubine already became the mother of the two little ones, and despite pangolins being mammals and not laying eggs, she should be able to help somewhat.

After all, of everyone and beasts around him now, only the concubine had been a mother.

He immediately picked up the giant egg with mild cracks in its eggshell and carried it to the bottom side of the treehouse.

With bonfires all around, the outside temperature was absurdly high, reaching seventy degrees that he could even feel discomfort.

Yet the giant egg bounced a little in his arms.

Compared to the treehouse temperature, it seemed to prefer the current temperature.

Xu Xin immediately slid into the pangolin’s burrow with it.

At this time, the initial space of the burrow had become the first layer of this burrow, and concubine along with two small pangolins were not at this layer.

Here the temperature, entering from the entrance bending inward to the end, decreased from over sixty degrees to around fifty degrees.
