Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 802: Chapter 495: Shattered

”Isn’t it unnecessary to think so complicatedly about this kind of thing?” Li Wenxi thought Xu Xin was overthinking, and speculated, ”Perhaps, the high temperature last night was actually the precursor to this insect swarm? The high temperature effect might actually be this insect swarm?”

What she said does seem possible.

”Better be a bit cautious. Preventing danger naturally requires considering the worst-case scenario.”

Xu Xin also felt that there shouldn’t be anything else happening tonight.

Otherwise, a danger that even he might not withstand would spell direct doom for other survivors.

Nevertheless, he had a thought regarding the disasters other survivors were facing.

Perhaps, the disaster level on his side was much more severe compared to ordinary survivors.

This situation...

Seems highly probable.

”Do you remember the beast swarm during the winter season?” Xu Xin turned to look at Li Wenxi who was teasing Keke in her arms and asked.

”Beast swarm during the winter season? Of course, I remember!” Li Wenxi lifted her head and smiled, ”You saved my life then, and my first kiss happened during that time!”

”Haha, do you remember the scale of that beast swarm?”

”The scale? It’s huge! Well, no, I remember... it seemed different for everyone?”

During the last beast swarm, the more people there were in a place, the more severe the disaster.

Shortly after the arrival of the winter season, before the giant stone pillar rose from the ground, they had once faced a snowstorm and attacks from mutant creatures.

Explorers like them, who were surviving with parasitic treehouses, were attacked by swarms of mutant creatures.

Those who were alone and had low-level treehouses basically didn’t face strong attacks.

They had never seen a beast swarm.

So, at that time, everyone in District 188 relied on ordinary treehouse crossbows sold by the explorers and were essentially safe.

Perhaps, this time it will be similar.

To confirm this hypothesis, he had just paid attention when checking Li Wenxi’s situation.

Although there were swarms of flying and crawling insects headed towards the flames, the insect swarm in the jungle was not very dense.

Even compared to the current swarm around him, which had already been mostly cleared, it was much less dense.

On his side, nearly thirty people were gathered, quite a large number.

According to his speculation, he should be facing a more severe disaster.

The facts indeed confirmed this.

Thus, he felt his guess was correct.

The more people there are, the deeper the impact of the insect disaster, and he needed to bear the disaster meant for nearly thirty people.

Where there are no people, the level of the insect disaster clearly decreased, even though his treehouse and Li Wenxi’s treehouse were only about twenty kilometers apart, the change in the disaster intensity was notably distinct.

He hopes his speculation is correct.

Otherwise, under such an extent of the insect swarm, the survival rate of other survivors is incredibly low.

Xu Xin shared this hypothesis with Li Wenxi next to him.

”Ah! Right!” Li Wenxi exclaimed, ”It was indeed like that last time. This time it seems very likely too, after all, last time was the first beast swarm after the onset of winter, and this time, the first... insect swarm? Almost the same!”

Li Wenxi’s perspective was indeed unique, but it made sense.

Seeing it this way, they might not need to worry too much about the survival of other survivors.

First, let’s take care of themselves.

Of course, though the disaster level was severe, accompanying it were greater opportunities.

Though he also didn’t know what opportunities he might have amidst this insect disaster.

During the last beast swarm, the explorers acquired a large batch of materials and profited greatly.

But this time...

The insects flew into the fire and directly burnt to ashes, leaving him nothing, not even points in the reward shop.

”But thinking like this, I feel relieved.” Li Wenxi held Keke in her arms, rubbing Keke’s little belly, ”My treehouse over there doesn’t have people, so there shouldn’t be any major issues, right?”

”Ying...” Keke was feeling comfortable from the rub, squinting and enjoying.

”Yeah, I’ve seen your side. The situation is much better than here, so don’t worry too much.” Xu Xin pinched Li Wenxi’s cheek.

Li Wenxi’s current level of amiability enhancement is indeed somewhat overwhelming...

Stay calm.

Tonight is very dangerous, let’s not do anything like that.

”That’s good then! I’m relieved, I’ll go downstairs to play with them!”

Lou Fei’Er and Zeng Tao were downstairs, and Li Wenxi immediately handed Keke to Xu Xin’s arms and ran downstairs.

The ground floor was filled with laughter and very relaxed and happy atmosphere.

Compared to the situation of other survivors, his place could really be considered paradise.

As long as he can withstand the disaster’s invasion.

”Yingying.” Keke’s small claws nudged Xu Xin’s hand, seemingly wanting him to continue rubbing its little belly like Li Wenxi.

Xu Xin smiled slightly and started rubbing.

”Ying...”

Meanwhile, in his mind, a map appeared.

On the map, most of the jungle around his treehouse was covered in a misty, varied shades of pulsating Red Mist, the closer to the treehouse, the deeper the Red Mist color.

This Red Mist is composed of tiny red dots from these insect swarms.
