Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 826: Chapter 503: Dream City! Completely Unexpected People!

In front of them was a passage leading downward.

But this passage was completely different from the underground passages Xu Xin had seen before.

This passage was extremely wide and grand, with a width of seven or eight meters, like... the steps in a hall.

There was just not much decoration, apart from the stone walls and the intricate patterns on the steps, there was no decoration at all.

If a few golden wall lamps were hung and a red carpet was laid in the middle of the steps, it might look even more fitting.

”What is this place really...” Lou Fei’Er stood in front of the just-closed door, looking down, ”It’s so deep, I can’t see the end.”

”...Another underground city?” Xu Xin let out a small sigh of relief.

If it’s just an underground city, it might be much simpler.

”Ying!” Keke jumped down from his shoulder and started running down the steps.

”Keke, be careful of traps... oh well, let’s follow.” Xu Xin shook his head and also started walking down.

”Oh, okay.”

Keke ran ahead for a while, as always, waiting for the two behind to catch up.

”Ying!” It chirped, urging the two to hurry up.

”I’ll go ahead and scout too.” Lou Fei’Er quickened her pace and followed.

Xu Xin followed at a steady pace, constantly observing the situation ahead.

Gradually, he felt the surrounding environment getting colder.

Of course, it felt colder to him, but actually, it was just gradually returning to normal temperature.

This underground place couldn’t be affected by the temperature above, so the temperature gradually dropped to normal levels, or even lower.

The temperature was only about a dozen degrees.

This was somewhat surprising to him.

This place was practically a perfect summer retreat.

But for him, this temperature was actually a bit low...

A temperature in the teens, with his reduced cold sensitivity, felt like subzero temperatures to him.

Fortunately, his purple-grade armor still had a thermal effect, and subzero temperatures were quite normal during the winter, so there wasn’t much of an issue.

Of course, if the temperature dropped further, there might be a problem.

But the possibility was low since, on Earth, underground temperatures generally hovered around seventeen to eighteen degrees year-round, and at a certain depth, geothermal heat would increase the temperature, so there was hardly a worry of temperatures continuing to drop.

Since nothing happened around here, Xu Xin quickened his pace and caught up with Lou Fei’Er and Keke ahead.

After walking a few hundred meters, the direction of the steps changed.

Like the construction of a regular staircase, the steps turned in the opposite direction before continuing downward.

It seemed like the place they were heading to was probably directly below the position of the human-faced statue above.

”Right...” Xu Xin raised his watch and tried to operate it.

The watch couldn’t project.

”I knew it wouldn’t work... hmm?” He hadn’t finished speaking when the watch suddenly projected an image.

After operating it, he found that he could actually communicate with the outside world now.

And...

It seemed... he could contact anyone?

Sure enough, everyone’s names suddenly lit up.

”This...?”

He was momentarily puzzled.

What’s going on?

Has the situation on the surface been restored?

He tentatively contacted Wang Lei, who was far away on the other side.

Wang Lei instantly answered the call: ”Whoa? Brother Xin? How did you call me? Are you around my treehouse?”

His voice echoed in the empty staircase corridor, startling Lou Fei’Er ahead, making her turn back: ”Wang Lei’s voice?”

She immediately understood the reasoning and turned around, running back to Xu Xin’s side.

”Ying?” Keke, who was running ahead, also stopped and looked back at the two.

”...It’s actually working.” Xu Xin was a bit surprised.

Wang Lei’s words indicated that the situation outside was still dire, so the fact that he could contact everyone outside was intriguing.

”What’s going on, Brother Xin? Did you find a way to communicate with others?” Wang Lei quickly asked.

Being unable to contact anyone from the treehouse was indeed frustrating.

”No. I’m underground now.”

”Ah, I knew that, Brother Chaoyang just informed us about the situation. I didn’t expect there to be a giant insect controlling a swarm hidden under the ground around the treehouse.” Wang Lei said, ”I’m exploring around the treehouse now, trying to discover anything. It’s a good thing the temperature isn’t too high at night, or else I’d be stuck during the day.”

”Wait a minute, why can you send me a voice message from the underground on your side?” Wang Lei was still confused.

Xu Xin was also very puzzled.

It was indeed strange, not only could he contact Wang Lei, but he could also reach anyone now.

”Could it be because you killed the giant insect around the treehouse, and the insects left, so the area is now connected?” Lou Fei’Er speculated, ”Was the signal interference caused by that giant insect?”

”...Possibly. Wang Lei, can you proactively contact me?” Xu Xin asked.

”Proactively contact? No, Brother Xin, your name is still dim.”

That means he could only connect to others, like a privilege?

”I’ll study it for a bit, let me hang up first.”
