Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 822: Chapter 501: Does It Look Like...

Some doors can move, but the window openings can’t be sealed.

The two of them searched for a long time before finally finding this room. They entered the room, slammed the door shut, and threw a torch inside to deal with the insects that had followed them in.

At this moment, the torch continued to burn in the corner of the wall.

Jin Yue walked to the corner and picked up the torch. ”We better not go out for now, the swarm of bugs outside is too crazy.”

”Isn’t that the truth!” Although her hand had healed, Zeng Tao still fiddled with her small hand, speaking with lingering fear, ”There’s no way to fight back, they bit my hand like this!”

”So why didn’t you cover your hands too?” Jin Yue glanced at her. ”You were all wrapped up when we came out.”

”It’s because... with my hands wrapped, it didn’t feel right holding the knife...” Zeng Tao said a bit embarrassedly, ”Besides, the bugs outside didn’t attack us, so I took it off. But now, it’s useless anyway.”

Zeng Tao pointed to the cloth on Jin Yue’s hands that was used for protection, ”It’s all been gnawed to bits.”

Jin Yue pulled all those pieces off.

The cloth was already close to falling apart.

The attack power of those insects was indeed formidable. Even though she kept moving and constantly swatting the bugs off her body, her clothing still suffered.

Fortunately, the purple-grade steel armor was unharmed; the insects’ bite force couldn’t damage the armor.

But this armor couldn’t be of much help.

After all, it’s armor, not a bodysuit; bugs can easily get in through the gaps.

Previously, she had all these gaps covered, but now...

They had already been gnawed open.

If they had been even a minute later, perhaps the bugs would have gotten into their clothes, gnawing them bloody all over...

”...These bugs are acting like a nest of hornets that’s been disturbed.”

Outside, the humming of insects was still very loud, and there were even occasional splatters on the stone door from insects crashing into it.

Fortunately, the stone door was thick, at least ten centimeters, very heavy. Even though there were many insects, they couldn’t break through.

Just a moment ago, even Zeng Tao had quite a struggle opening this door.

Because of this, her hand got gnawed like that.

”This stone door, it’s ridiculously heavy!” Zeng Tao no longer leaned on the door, knowing the bugs couldn’t open it. ”How on earth was this place built? Even with my strength, it’s this hard to push a door...”

”We can only wait here.” Jin Yue sat down against the wall, ”We can only wait for the bugs to leave before we go out.”

The two had just tried using the torch outside too, but just like on the surface, the torch could attract the swarm, but it was extinguished instantly due to the sheer numbers.

”If I had known, I would have brought some of those mutant vines.” Zeng Tao sighed, ”Maybe that thing would have been useful.”

It’s just a pity they wouldn’t carry such things on them.

Now, they could only wait for the right moment.

...

Xu Xin was crouching beside the statue, examining the situation here.

But despite a thorough inspection for a long time, even climbing onto the statue, he couldn’t find anything magical about it.

It seemed like just a very ordinary stone statue.

But...

Why was it... his face?

Or maybe it just looked somewhat similar to him?

But this is... too much of a coincidence?

Discovering a statue that resembles him very much, a few hundred meters underground near his treehouse?

This made him feel a bit uneasy.

”Xu Xin, here! Come over quickly, this looks like an entrance!” Lou Fei’Er called out from about twenty meters away, by the rock wall. ”Keke discovered it!”

Xu Xin immediately stood up and walked over.

The insects scattered because of Lou Fei’Er’s proximity, revealing what was hidden inside on the rock wall ahead of her.

A door.

A double stone door with an arched top.

It looked like an entrance to an underground city.

The stone door was etched with some unintelligible characters.

”Yeep!” Keke climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder, pointing at the stone door with a little paw, ”Yeep yeep yeep!”

It seemed, they were going to continue on from here.
