Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 829: Chapter 504: So Why Is Shi Wanyun Here

If this Crystal City only made him feel shocked, the fact that Shi Wanyun is here was something completely beyond his expectations.

”Shi Wanyun...?” Lou Fei’Er heard the name, paused for a second, then widened her eyes, ”Shi Wanyun? Are you Shi Wanyun?! The one... the number one in District One?”

”...Yes, it’s me. And you are...” Shi Wanyun had seen Li Wenxi in videos before but had not seen Lou Fei’Er.

”I’m Lou Fei’Er, you might have heard my name too.”

Lou Fei’Er also knew about the situation between Xu Xin and Shi Wanyun, immediately putting down her hostility.

”Ah, it’s you.” Shi Wanyun’s soft voice carried a hint of surprise, ”The one originally from District 187, Lou Fei’Er, right?”

Back then, Lou Fei’Er’s story had already spread across the world, known to all survivors.

”Hehe, yes, that’s me.”

”Hmm...” Keke was already beginning to feel drowsy.

It let out a soft sound, looked at Shi Wanyun briefly, then closed its eyes again.

It was already well past midnight, long past the little one’s bedtime. To have stayed awake until now was already quite impressive.

”...So, why are you here?” Xu Xin looked at her.

Her appearance was even more captivating than in the videos.

She had only video-called Xu Xin twice; the first time she had appeared disheveled and had no image, the second time she’d barely escaped, without getting a chance to tidy up.

But now, it was clear she’d freshened up, her hair simply tied, and her soft face exuded an undeniable charm as she gently gazed at Xu Xin and Lou Fei’Er.

”...I’m not sure either.” Shi Wanyun’s eyes flashed with a hint of confusion, then she shook her head, ”I was just exploring around the treehouse. Suddenly, like last time, I got dizzy and ended up here. I didn’t expect to meet you here.”

”Like last time...”

From what she said, Xu Xin clearly knew what she meant.

Last time, she triggered a teleport near the treehouse and was transported to the other side of the planet.

That means this time, she was teleported as well?

Unbelievable...

Why did she happen to be transported to the ruins directly below his treehouse?

Speaking of which, after the last call, Xu Xin’s communication with her had been cut off due to the heatwave, and he still didn’t know what situation she encountered on that giant tree.

”So, you came all the way from District One to our place?” Lou Fei’Er sounded a bit skeptical, ”Really? Did you just arrive?”

”No. I’ve been here for a while, about half an hour, but I’ve been observing the situation,” Shi Wanyun explained, ”Just now, this city wasn’t the way you see it now. The city was made of stone just moments ago.”

She described the recent changes to them.

”Such things...” Xu Xin believed what she said.

Because since a while ago, he had been wondering why there were so many stone debris on the ground around the buildings.

This was the only thing affecting the city’s aesthetic.

Shi Wanyun’s words just explained his confusion.

”Xu Xin...” Lou Fei’Er tugged at his arm, ”Could this... have been caused by us?”

”...It probably was.”

Xu Xin looked back at the corridor he had just walked out of.

The large door wasn’t closed but was actually wide open, they seemed to be able to walk back in at any time.

In other words, they must have opened this door, triggered some mechanism, causing the city’s true appearance to be revealed, presenting such a breathtaking view.

”So where exactly is this place, and how did you get here?” Shi Wanyun was equally perplexed.

Perhaps because she had experienced the same or even more dangerous events before, or perhaps because she saw her rescuer from the last time, despite being teleported to an unfamiliar place again, she remained calm and didn’t panic.

”This is directly beneath my treehouse.” Xu Xin explained only once, and then turned his attention back to the Crystal City.

The Crystal Palace at the city’s center had been capturing his attention from the beginning.

For some reason, he felt that this Crystal Palace had an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

He desperately wanted to go and see.

Thinking about the statue above marked with his face...

He had to go and see it.

But...

”...Why are there bugs here too?” Xu Xin sighed.

Their location didn’t have many bugs, but near the Crystal Palace, there was a dense swarm of insects.

These insect swarms seemed attracted by the brighter light emitted by the Crystal Palace compared to the surrounding buildings, and most of them swarmed around, completely surrounding the Crystal Palace.

”That’s also why I haven’t gone in.” Shi Wanyun said softly, ”Before you arrived, this area was still dark, and the bugs weren’t gathering near the Crystal Palace but were scattered throughout the city. Unlike ground bugs that don’t care about survivors, these actively attacked me.”

”However, as long as you stay outside this plaque area, it’s okay. Flying insects might fly out, but they lose their aggressive behavior.” Shi Wanyun continued explaining, ”So I’ve been in the periphery thinking of strategies, and then you arrived.”
