Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 805: Chapter 496: Exploring Anomalies

In the dense jungle after nightfall, it was incredibly dark, with almost no light.

Even though Qin Fu had consumed the blue-grade red berry and acquired night vision, he couldn’t clearly grasp the condition of the ground.

It’s like using night vision goggles at night — the perception of color is significantly reduced.

Thus, when he realized that the soil beneath his feet had turned red, he was already halfway sunk into the ground.

But before he could utter anything, he was completely swallowed by it, disappearing without a trace.

”What happened? Qin Fu?”

Xu Xin’s heart tightened the moment he heard Qin Fu’s abrupt cry.

No matter how he called out, there was no response from the other side.

And then the communication, which had been connected, suddenly stopped after only a dozen seconds.

Trying to reconnect showed that communication was now impossible.

This...

Xu Xin squinted his eyes.

What exactly happened over there?

Qin Fu, did he...

Did something happen?

He immediately checked the names on his private message list.

Fortunately, Qin Fu’s name hadn’t turned gray, indicating he wasn’t dead.

However, his name had dimmed, like those of survivors far away from here.

This meant that it was indeed impossible to establish contact with him now.

What happened to him over there...

Xu Xin glanced at the map.

On the map, the light representing him had vanished.

Disappeared without a trace.

Within the range of several dozens of kilometers around his treehouse, only the green lights representing companions remained dispersed inside his treehouse.

Xu Xin looked out the window, toward the direction where Qin Fu disappeared.

It was around eight hundred meters from his treehouse.

Not very far.

There is indeed danger over there!

...He had to go and see where Qin Fu disappeared!

According to Qin Fu, it was possible that the solution to this insect nest problem lay there.

Moreover, he couldn’t just let his subordinate die without rescue, especially when it was this close to the treehouse.

”Silver King, Mimi, Afu, it’s time for you to take a stroll outside. You’ve been in the treehouse for so long, I fear you might rust.” Xu Xin stood up and spoke to the three beasts lying lazily in the corner, seemingly unwilling to move.

”Roar...” Silver King slowly stood up and walked over.

Afu also stirred and came over.

Mimi, however, remained lying on the ground, only glancing up.

Mimi was supposed to be the most eager to go outside, but now it seemed completely disinterested in going out.

Since the scorching heat arrived, these guys had all been like this.

Keke just didn’t want to go out much, but it still had plenty of energy.

As for these creatures, who knows what has affected them, because they all adopted a lazy, unmoving attitude.

Yet this trip felt potentially dangerous, so he had to bring them along.

Observing their behavior, Xu Xin decisively stored them inside his wristband.

”Keke, you’re coming with me too.” Xu Xin found Keke hiding behind the sofa and picked it up, saying.

Keke could always discover things that eluded his notice. When going out to explore dangerous places, having it around gave Xu Xin peace of mind.

”Huh...” Seeing that it couldn’t evade the outing, Keke’s four short legs and big tail drooped instantly.

It seems this little guy didn’t want to go out either.

But then again, with this weather, he’d prefer to stay cozied up in the treehouse...

But there’s no alternative; he can’t just sit and wait.

Xu Xin promptly went to the second floor.

On the second floor, the girls were chatting.

Xu Xin knocked on the door, and everyone looked toward him.

”Lou Fei’Er, Zeng Tao, Jin Yue, come out. We have work to do.”

Of course, he wouldn’t go alone.

After all, there’s strength in numbers.

”Oh, are you going out again?” Li Wenxi stood up and joined them.

Xu Xin briefly informed them of the recent events.

”Huh? That Qin Fu guy is in trouble again, huh.” Zeng Tao obviously felt annoyed, ”Why can’t he ever stay put? We barely resolved tonight’s issue...”

”...Can we find the source of these insects there?” Jin Yue began pondering.

”That guy’s ability is somewhat amazing, isn’t it?” Lou Fei’Er stretched, saying, ”Maybe he can solve this problem? I really don’t want these insects around the treehouse.”

”I think so too,” Xu Xin said, ”Considering the anomaly is so close to the treehouse, we need to eliminate it. It’s too close; it can easily affect us.”

”You just returned, and now you’re going out again...” Li Wenxi felt a bit down, ”I wish I had your kind of abilities; then, I could go out with you.”

”What good are our abilities anyway? Yours are really strong!” Lou Fei’Er immediately comforted.

”Exactly, thanks to you, our equipment is top-notch!” Zeng Tao also praised, tapping her backpack containing weapons she’s quite satisfied with.

”Huh?” Keke also leaped toward Li Wenxi, hopping into her arms.

Li Wenxi’s amplified charisma was no joke; feeling her dismay, everyone wanted to cheer her up.

”No running away.” Xu Xin pulled Keke from Li Wenxi’s embrace and reassured her, ”Wenxi, don’t worry about us. There’s not necessarily anything wrong over there, and we’ll be back soon.”
