Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 337: Chapter 274: New Mutation

Xu Xin stood still, quietly waiting for his mutation to complete.

The scars on the back of Ma Hongwei’s head, and the few scratches on his face caused by his earlier fall from Silver King, had completely healed by now.

”...Is this the process of active mutation?” Lou Fei’Er was somewhat surprised, ”He has so many blood marks on his face. When I mutated, I don’t think I had that many, right?”

During Lou Fei’Er’s first mutation, she had seen her mutated form in the stream. She knew that she only had two blood marks on her face. Even though there were only two, she could hardly accept them, and now seeing so many marks on Ma Hongwei’s face made it even harder for her to accept.

”No, only two.” Xu Xin looked at Ma Hongwei and responded to her.

Perhaps, because a part of the energy from a near-death mutation was used to repair serious injuries, the blood marks were not too dense.

”...Isn’t this what you look like after autonomous mutation? Ugh! I will never mutate on my own in the future!” Lou Fei’Er took a small step back, with a hint of fear on her face.

”Alright, you all step back a bit.” Xu Xin waved towards Lou Fei’Er and the beasts.

Once they moved away, Xu Xin looked at Ma Hongwei, who was about seven or eight meters away, standing still with his head down, feeling a bit strange.

Does he still have his own consciousness now? Or is there only the instinct to attack left?

Why is he not moving?

”You can start now.” Xu Xin tentatively said to him.

As soon as he said this, Ma Hongwei immediately started to move.

He slowly raised his head, revealing a face covered with blood marks and a pair of blood-red eyes.

Then, he stepped towards Xu Xin.

”Bang!”

With a footstep on the ground, a heavy sound echoed, causing the surrounding ground to tremble slightly.

This is...

He took another step forward.

”Bang!”

The ground raised dust.

Xu Xin noticed some dry land under Ma Hongwei’s foot, which cracked directly under his step!

...Is this an increase in power? Did his strength grow?

Is the amplified physical ability from Ma Hongwei’s mutation strength?

With his hearing augmented today, he could hear Ma Hongwei’s muscles and bones making peculiar sounds, full of power, even giving him a sense of scalp tingling.

A person who originally looked skinny now had muscles swelling in all limbs, body included, as if a skinny ordinary person suddenly turned into a low-budget version of the Hulk.

Power mutation!

Xu Xin put away the spear in his hand. His own strength now was also not something ordinary survivors could compare with, so he intended to face Ma Hongwei in this state barehanded.

”Hey! Are you crazy?” Lou Fei’Er, leaning against a tree intending to watch the show, was stunned for a moment when she saw Xu Xin put away his weapon, then she straightened up and shouted, ”Are you going to confront this guy fist to fist? How could you compete!”

In her view, as long as Xu Xin held the spear, he could easily play with Ma Hongwei, who was in a mutated explosive state.

Because she had once suffered from this spear, even when it slashed over her several times without hurting her much, it made her progressively weak, as if it was absorbing her stamina.

But if he put away the spear, without the advantage of a weapon, she did not believe Xu Xin could confront the currently explosive Ma Hongwei.

Xu Xin ignored her, slowly retreating, keeping a certain distance from Ma Hongwei who was approaching step by step, and asked, ”Do you still have your own consciousness now?”

Ma Hongwei still walked towards him step by step, those red eyes fixed intently on him, without saying a word.

”If you still have consciousness, say something.” Xu Xin frowned.

Yet he still got no response, continued to approach Xu Xin with heavy steps.

”Bang! Bang!”

...It seems, he does not have his own consciousness anymore. But what does it mean he’s slowly approaching me?

This state of his looks so dumb, with movements so slow, almost no different from a target.

He slowly retreated to the side of Mimi and the others and said, ”If he doesn’t attack you guys, don’t move.”

Xu Xin retreated past Mimi and the others, as Ma Hongwei followed him step by step.

Even though Silver King Mimi and the others were less than a few dozen centimeters away from him, he ignored them, his eyes fixed intently on Xu Xin, with very heavy breathing.

Because he was too close, Silver King had already bared its fangs, growling lowly in its throat, and Mimi also tensed up, opened its mouth and hissed menacingly at him.

But he ignored their existence, following Xu Xin’s steps, moving forward step by step.

Does he have consciousness at all?

Xu Xin now retreated to Lou Fei’Er’s side and said to Lou Fei’Er, ”You go, don’t attack him, try pushing him twice to see his reaction.”

”Huh?” Lou Fei’Er’s face turned bitter, ”Let me go? I can’t beat him, he’s in an explosive state now, I...”

”If he tries to attack you, just dodge, you’re good at dodging, aren’t you?” Xu Xin recalled when he swung the spear in the tree house, he couldn’t hit Lou Fei’Er no matter what, she was like a slippery eel darting around.

”Alright...” Lou Fei’Er couldn’t disobey Xu Xin’s command, so she could only walk toward Ma Hongwei with a bitter face.
